A:  Dude ... it's called "lava rock". Think much.

A:  mrobvious not too cool but these state they are for fire pits and yet some customers said they cracked/popped so it seems like a logical question. Be nice

A:  I use the red lava rock in multiple freshwater tanks for shrimp breeding as decor only not as a substrate., I keep one community tank that has corys whose barbs and mouth that might get injured by how rough the lava is.
