Q:We have a cabin that we winterize for the winter. This means the temperature would drop to below 32 degrees. Is this refrigerator designed to stand this temperature drop?
by|Jul 13, 2021

Answer This Question
A: Hello - We appreciate your interest and we are happy to help! This refrigerator model is not designed for the temperatures below 32 degrees F. We do not recommend installing a refrigerator where temperatures will go below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. At this temperature, the unit is less efficient and will continue to lose efficiency as the outdoor temperature decreases.
At 32 degrees, there is no cooling capability at all. Below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, the oil could become thick and not circulate properly. We hope this helps. Thanks for checking. Olga@GEA

Answer This Question
A: Hello - Thank you for your interest; we are happy to help! The refrigerator model GTE17GTNRBB is not garage ready. Do not install a refrigerator where it could be running in extreme temperatures. The refrigerator may not work properly, and there is a possibility that some harm could come to the compressor or sealed system by operating the refrigerator at temperature extremes. We do not recommend installing a refrigerator where temperatures will go below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. At this temperature, the unit is less efficient and will continue to lose efficiency as the outdoor temperature decreases. We do not recommend installing a refrigerator where the temperature will exceed 110 degrees Fahrenheit. There is a possibility that operating the refrigerator in extremely high temperature could cause the oil to overheat and break down, thus damaging the compressor or sealed system. We hope this helps. Thanks for checking. Olga@GEA

Q:How many amps does this use?

Answer This Question
A: Hi Bob - Thanks for reaching out to us about this top-freezer refrigerator! We truly appreciate you choosing GE Appliances for your home and are happy to answer this for you. The exact number of amps that an individual refrigerator draws is located on the rating plate. If you cannot check the rating plate, we recommend using the minimum amp breaker or fuse size recommended for this appliance as a guide. Because of the brief surge of power that refrigerators typically draw during start up, (approximately 2 to 3 times the running amps) you will want to account for the start-up amps. This refrigerator requires a120V, 60Hz, 15-Amp dedicated circuit for optimal performance. You can learn more about the electrical supply on page 4 of the Use and Care Manual. We hope that this helps! -Eliza@GEA
