A: There's a strong stainless rod. You're not going to bend it with a big chicken. I would imagine the limit would be the size or dimension of the poultry. If there's a weight limit to the poultry I didn't see it in the instructions. If it fits, it crisps.
A: If you plan to cook poultry on the rotisserie, weight isn't the problem - size is. The "spit" is pretty high in the oven, so the diameter of the item on it is limited to 5-6" before it collides with the top. We couldn't fit a 5.5 lb chicken in it.
