We would caution against increasing the actual wattage of the bulbs. So, for example, we would not recommend replacing 40-watt incandescent bulbs with 60-watt incandescent bulbs. But, if the bulbs are 40-watt equivalent LED bulbs, there should be no issue with replacing them with 60-watt equivalent LED bulbs.
