Answer This Question
A: A farmhouse sink requires a specific sink base cabinet or custom build one using a 36x15x18 wall cabinet and building a base to attach it to for the appropriate height.

A: Hi AFizzym,
A standard height cabinet would work just fine with this snink and a garbage disposal.

Q:What faucet is compatible for this sink? (2nd request)

A: You can use any faucet you like. This sink is an under mount. The faucet gets mounted on the counter top between the sink and the backsplash. You would have to drill holes in the counter top for whatever faucet you get or have it done for you.

A: Almost any kitchen faucet will work with this sink depending on the type of countertop being used with it. I do a lot of kitchen remodels and I generally have quartz countertops and use a single hole faucet that unclips to use as a sprayer.

A: Hi Fran,
Thanks for reaching out to us.
It is completely a matter of preference as any one of our Kitchen Faucets would pair nicely with this sink.
Our KPF-1610 and KPF-1690 would be nice options and we would be happy to review a few more with you directly.

A: Hi Key,
This is customizable depending on how far back the sink is placed within the counter and can have an extended front of 3/4" or 1/2".

A: If you're really hooked on this sink, I can send you a picture from the top looking down or a side profile. Just post your email address....
However, I do not recommend this particular model. We purchased it and are not happy with it. What we found is that the sink doesn't pitch enough toward the drain, The bottom is VERY flat....yes it was professionally installed, but the problem lies with the design....we are constantly removing the provided strainers to help move the water along with anything that washed off any plates, utensils etc, toward the drain. If it had a little more pitch, it probably wouldn't be a problem. Good Luck!

A: We installed ours to be even with the edge of the counter top which put it 2" out from the cabinet on the ends and 2 3/4" in the center.

A: Hi Kristy,
Thanks for reaching out to us.
Yes, this sink will include a cardboard template in the box with the sink and we also offer DXF Files directly on our website.
by|May 20, 2021
A: Under mount sinks such as this one usually doesn't come with a template. Whatever counter top is used (granite, quartz, acrylic) the cut pattern is determined by the installer who will measure where the cut needs to be.

Q:I see conflicting information about the correct cabinet width for these apron front sinks. If my base cabinet is 36” wide and manufactured for this type of sink what size sink do I need to order - 33” or 36”?

A: Hi Julie,
Thanks for reaching out to us.
As this sink does not include mounting hardware, our KHF203-33 requires 33" minimum cabinet size and a custom installation with a support system being built within the cabinet.

Q:Why is a 39" cabinet recommended for the 36" sink but a 33" cabinet is recommended for a 33" sink? We are installing new cabinets and will be getting the farmhouse sink cabinet, does that make a difference?

Q:How do you secure to the cabinet? Is it just the plumbing connections and weight of the countertop that holds it in place? Literature doesnt mention

Answer This Question
A: Hi BagonHead,
Thanks for your inquiry.
Below are some by step by step instructions on how to approach a Farmhouse installation:
Please Note: The step-by-step guideline below is a general reference for installing the Kraus Farmhouse Sink. Please keep in mind that this is a custom installation. Kraus cannot be liable should there be any discrepancies with your installation. Kraus recommends installing all Kraus products by hiring a licensed, professional plumber.
Step 1: Measures for Supports
Measure the "true" height of the sink, from where the top aligns with the countertop surface to the bottom of the sink’s sides, which will rest on the supports.
Transfer this measurement to the interior cabinet sides and mark a level line from back to front. This is where the supports will be added to carry the weight of the sink.
Step 2: Install the Supports
On each cabinet side, install 2" x 4' supports. Position the tops of the supports so that they are even with the level lines. Use construction adhesive and 1-5/8" square-drive deck screws to attach the supports. First, apply the adhesive then clamp the supports firmly in place, then drive the screws through the cabinet sides into each support.
Step 3: Cut the Cabinet Front
Measure the height of the sink front, and add 1/8” to this dimension when you mark the base cabinet front cutout. This allows the sink to rest just above the cut edge, without being supported by it. Depending on your base cabinet, it may be necessary to remove the doors and replace them with smaller doors.
Use a jig saw to cut out the sink-front opening.
Step 4: Install the Sink
Test-fit the sink in the opening. The entire weight of the sink should be carried by the side supports. Check that the sink is level from side to side and front to back. If necessary, add tapered wood shims to adjust.
Install the sink and use silicone caulk to fill in the gaps below the sink front, and between the sink and countertop.
