A:  There are several types of peak railing brackets. The type you need would be determined by how the railing would be mounted. There are flush mounted brackets, brackets that pivot horizontal, and vertical for steps or uneven ground, large brackets for top rails, small brackets for step hand rails.

A:  I mounted mine on a wood deck, but had to install additional blocking under the deck and substitute 5/16” x 6” structural screws instead of the short lag screws that come with the posts.  That made the posts very solid.
