A: No the head is not removable.
A: No, but a multi-tool will convert to a detail sander. I saw the adapter at Home Depot. It would have costed more in the long run.
A: Hello James, thank you for your question about the RYOBI DS1200 detail sander. The RYOBI DS1200 will not convert to a multi tool, but; the RYOBI P340 can be used as a multi-tool and as a detail sander.
A: Hi dee! Yes, you could absolutely use this product for that purpose.
A: The only problem, if you don't watch out, the sandpaper edges will cut tiny grooves if you get too close. Wrapping the splines with painters tape will delay the edges cutting in.
A: Yes
A: Yes, as long as it can reach the tight spots of what you're trying to sand.
A: Yes! Small enough for those difficult jobs
A: Hi Wally, This should be fine for curves and handrails/bannisters. Thanks for asking. Greg
A: Yes it can but you have to use fine sandpaper.
A: It would take forever. A belt sander would be the most aggressive. An orbital sander has problems with the paper falling off. Needs to be a flat surface. The corner cat would be better for that project. I used the B&D mouse on one of those one time and it worked. Another thought, you can use an right angle grinder with the flappy sandpaper. That's what most people use on handrails. I assume you're talking steel hand rails on this. The detail sander would be great on the corners on the insides. In my opinion, you need a mix of sanders to do it right.
A: You can get a lot of it with this but then will have to follow up with hand scrapers and sanding.
A: It works fine on just about any contour especially tight detailed areas.
A: That's a good assumption. It is most suitable for corners on flat surfaces.
A: Hello gdog60 and thank you for the question. Yes, it is compatible with other brand pads. Thank you!
A: Sure! There are pads of different grits made for it. Also, you can cut your own from any pad that has the flannel-like/velcro-like adhesive.
A: yes you can, if you Google search "Detail Sanding sheets" you will plenty of choices
A: Probably. There are a few sandpaper stores online that sell replacement pad material for other sanders to cut your own pad.
A: Sure! There are different grit pads for it. You may also cut your own from any pad that has the flannel-like/velcro-like adhesive system.
A: No...I returned mine
A: Not to my knowledge. I even bought a replacement head and the same thing happened.
A: No it has not. I was able to pry off one sand paper sheet and I cannot remove the second one.

A: NO
A: No it is not designed to have a dust collector
A: No
A: No
A: No, it does not.
A: No it does not.
A: No
A: No
A: No it does not. It is made similar to an oscillating tool. Also, sanders this small is not very good at collecting dust. Keep a shop vac near by to collect the dust as you go. I had to repaint an outside basement door, so dust wasn't an issue for me.
A: Hi Sherry, This sander does not have a dust collector. Thanks for asking. Greg
A: No.
A: No, this detail sander does not come with a storage bag.
A: No storage bag.
A: No it does not.
A: Hi Jesse, This sander does not come with a tool bag. Thanks for asking. Greg
A: No mine didn’t but it’s quite a slim tool so it first in another sander bag that I have. I think you could get an after market bag. I’ve been happy with it’s performance and it didn’t put me off not having its own storage bag as this would have bumped the price up I’m sure. I hope this helps
A: This was the only drawback to the sander. I had to take this back to Home Depot and instead of buying a replacement they simply gave me a new sander! Incredible customer service.
A: Hi Bill. For any replacement parts for our tools please call our customer service for the best options in your area. 800-525-2579. Thanks for your interest. Greg
A: Home Depot has a great supply
A: Yes. Pads are available in several grit levels. The samples that come with the unit will help you decide which additional pads you may need.
A: Home depot
A: It’s a peel and stick paper. Pull off the backing and it is supposed to stick to the sander but doesyhold very well. I returned mine.
A: Hi Anne, This is a sticky back type sander. If the paper when applied correctly will not stick check the pad on the tool and clean it. That should make the paper stick again. Hope this helps? Greg
A: My pads would not stay on (sanding detail on kitchen ). Fairly big task. I spray just a dab of Spray glue #77. Works great. Great little sander..
A: No glue needed. Peel off the paper in back of the sand paper and apply to pad. The paper lining is very thin and not that easy to start peeling but once you have a corner started, it comes off easily.
A: NO glue needed. The pads are designed to adhere to the soft cushion on the unit.
A: I'd only use the self adhesive sand paper.
A: Don't bother trying to glue it on. Just blow off the sawdust with an air gun every time and it will work great.
A: If you have good adhesive sandpaper and it is still not working then make sure your felt pad is clean and in good shape. If needed you can use blue painter's tape to clean the felt pad off. Once the sandpaper adhesive gets enough sawdust or dirt, it will never stay on again.
A: Hi Anne, This take a sticky back type paper. If it is not sticking then you will need to clean the pad area on the tool and let it dry. If you are using the hook and loop type paper then you will need the sticky back type paper. Hope this helps? Greg
A: Be sure to remove the backing on the pad before attaching to the unit. Also make sure that soft pad receiver is clear of dust and other particles.
A: Hi Anne think you have the wrong pad they are 2 different ones it's the sticky one
A: Blow the felt pad off with air gun. Removes the sawdust and will work great.
