A:  Thanks for the question! This will work during the daytime for effective mosquito protection, but the light from the Lantern will not be as effective.

A:  We use it whenever we need the protection, either day or night - it works for both. We typically turn it off when it gets cooler at night as the mosquito's typically leave as it gets cooler.

A:  The lantern and repellent features operate independently, so you can use light and repellent separately.

A:  The repellent feature and lighting work from separate switches; so, yes, you can have the light out but still have the repellent feature active.

A:  The light has noting to do with the mosquito repellent, they both work independent of each other. The only reason that we use the light is to remind us that the mosquito repellent is turned on and to turn it off when we're done.

A:  The light works independent of the repellent and has no effect on how the repellent works. You can use either option on their own.

A:  I would not recommend leaving it outside in the rain. The top of the unit has open vents where a small mat saturated with repellent is inserted on top of the metal grill.

A:  This product is water resistant. If it does get wet, ensure it is dry inside and out before using it again.

A:  I’ve left mine outside and the internal cell with repellent was ok but the top where you slide in the extra mosquito repellent isn’t waterproof. Just bring it in if you think of it.

A:  I am going to answer my own question. Patio Lanterns need complete calm to be effective. I bought four for a 20 x 20 patio. One for each corner. Any breeze and flies and mosquitos fly right in. So running ceiling fan is out.
