Installation Instructions

Use the chart below to verify that all parts have been shipped.
Description Qty. Use
Hour meter 1 Install the hour meter.
Installing the Hour Meter
1. Raise the seat.
2. Locate the existing cutout on the seat support, the
main wiring harness leading to the seat switch, and
the hour meter lead affixed to that wiring harness.
3. Detach the hour meter connector from the wiring
harness, move it rearward, and pull it up through the
cutout in the seat support.
4. Connect the hour meter to the wiring harness.
Note: Insert the 2 perpendicular prongs of the hour
meter into the 2 slots in the hour meter connector as
shown in Figure 1.

5. Install the hour meter into the cutout (Figure 1).
Note: Push gently until the integrated clip snaps
into place.
6. Lower the seat.

A: We only need to use two of the three connections with our system. The hourmeter is used in other applications where all three are needed.

Q:I have a Toro ss4225 model 74720, I see the slot in the frame under the seat but there is no wiring harness from the seat to wirer to it, is there a harness to buy ? I tried calling the Toro number but couldn't stand waiting so long. How can I connect the hour meter ??

A: The connector will be taped to the wire harness near the right side of the unit. It may be pulled under the seat support bracket or more toward the engine, so you may have to look around a bit. The tape securing the connector should be removed and then the connector can be secured to the hourmeter module.

Q:Does the meter have an internal battery? Can you unplug it from the tractor battery, and have it keep the meter reading?

A: It has a small battery that keeps a memory. If you disconnect the battery it doesn’t reset your hourmeter to 0.

A: I do not see a place to install a batter in the meter.. I disconnected the meter from the cable for 5 minutes and the hours continued to show. I will assume there is a capacitor holding a charge to keep the hours reading and maintained if you take the battery out or the batter is low.
I record the hours so if the hour meter does drop the hours I will still have a record of the last time it did record.
Answer: Yes, when you disconnect the Hour meter Yes it still holds the time. (how long I am not sure) I would check with the hour meter company.
