Answer This Question

A:  Yes they do.

A:  Contact the PRO Desk at Home Depot...who should be able to tell you about the product they are selling.

    by|Sep 13, 2020

A:  I did some quick searches on the Home Depot Website and did not find anything with the compounds you list. I did see MCA, Micronized Copper Azole listed as the pressure treatment chemical for the lumber that popped up in one of my searches including the 2X6 under which you posted your question. From what I read, MCA is less corrosive to fasteners than CA and ACQ. MCA treated lumber is more likely to retain its natural color and can be placed in contact with aluminum. Also, one of the articles that I read grouped MCQ (Micronized Copper Quaternary) and MCA together under one heading which leads me to believe that their properties are similar.

Q:Can these boards be submerged in standing fresh water of approx. 6 inches during rain seasons?

                          Answer This Question

A:  No. If you have a standing water problem, try to alleviate it with a drainage system. If you can't drain the water, I would recommend pouring concrete pliers for the wood to rest on. If this product sits in water for extended periods of time, the treatment will leach out, and with that, the wood is not treated any longer.

A:  This would not be a good application. This lumber is for ground contact only. You would need a marine grade treated timber for that, avail will special order at the Home Depot Pro Desk

A:  Recommend lining the inside walls of the planter box with heavy duty black plastic. As long at the treated wood doesn't come in contact with you planting soil, you reduce any chance of contamination. That said, I think the chance of contamination is low without it.

A:  Pressure-treated wood is softwood lumber, usually southern yellow pine, that's been chemically treated to resist termites, decay & rot. If the wood is marked "Ground Contact", it is treated to be placed directly on or in the ground. That does NOT mean that it will last indefinitely.
