This Townsend towel bar from American Standard is a beautiful addition to out bathroom vanity area. It comes packaged with securely with all hardware needed and instructions along with tools needed to install. (including a tiny hex tool). It was easily installed as per the instructions in a matter of about 30 minutes. It is stylish and a perfect fit for the vanity area.

FLAWED; NOT A GOOD REPLACEMENT — The American Standard Townsend 18 in. Towel Bar in Polished Chrome would be an attractive towel bar if did not have the prominent cosmetic flaw that I did not realize until after I had installed it. It is a one piece towel bar that is probably intended for new construction or remodeling. I just wanted to replace an existing towel bar. Since I did not want to do a major repair on my bathroom wall, I used the screw holes from the existing towel bar. The two supports for this towel bar are made for vertical placement of the installation screws rather than horizontal. Since the existing holes where horizontal, that required rotating the supports. Since the supports are round, that worked. One of the photos shows where the towel bar separated from the left external bar support. Another photo shows the other side which is intact. The bar extends 4" from the wall. That extra ½ inch may make it less desirable or unusable in some situations. The towel bar is functional.

Towel bar is perfect for our bathroom. Home Depot handled the order promptly.

For the price, I expected a higher quality towel bar. I have several issues with the towel bar I received: 1. One of the end pieces is not firmly attached to the bar, which makes the entire thing a bit flimsy. 2. The bar is made from a very thin metal that feels almost like plastic. 3. The towel bar is manufactured in three separate pieces. I wouldn't have a problem with that except that the finish on the three pieces don't match. One side and the bar itself are a cold brushed nickel color, while the other side is a much warmer (almost gold) color. I returned the towel bar, so I can't comment on the installation. The mounting bracket is quite small though and I do question whether the provided set screw would be long enough to firmly engage the bracket.

Seems fine. Matches my faucets and seems relatively well made.

I have ordered 3 and 2 were defective. The problem is with the end brackets are milled incorrectly. The cut in the end bracket is in the wrong location and would not catch the mounting disk when pushed against the wall. In both it was on the left side. Returning those 2.

This is a nice towel bar. We just moved into a new home and this towel rack is certainly much nicer than the towel bars the builder provided. The chrome finish is very nice. My husband installed this on the side of a standard base kitchen cabinet we have in the laundry room. The 18" towel bar fits the cabinet just right. The towel bar was easy to install and was installed quickly. In our old house we were lucky enough to have some high end towel bars. I think the finish on this towel bar looks as nice as my old ones. The style would look nice in a contemporary or transitional style home.

this towel bar is very good looking, it is in polished chrome, the directions are very easy to follow and install time is under 5 minutes, it is 18" inches long and once up, will not come loose, it should look great any any bathroom with any decor.i highly recommend this product and it should be a welcome new addition to any house, another great product sold at the home depot!
