  • Great for cast iron

Just purchased to smooth out new cast iron skillet after seeing this on YouTube video. If using with drill use with side Handel it will run away at higher rpm. At low rpm it's manageable and works great. I used on 12 volt drill and worked great.

My only negative is that I didn't realize how important it is to wear a mask while using it! I had black particles in my nasal discharge for 2 days after using it to smooth a cast iron skillet.

Inexpensive yet impressive tool. I used this to strip a cast iron BBQ grille surface and it took off the oily, carbonized buildup right off. WIth a little more pressure, precision and patience it took off the bubbly rust and smoothed the surface even more. I'm really impressed with the value and quality of the product. It wore down, as expected, but not nearly as much as I expected. Overall, this is a great tool for tough stripping. Word to the wise - use an N95 mask and safety glasses or goggles when using the tool for a job such as this. I always wear safety eyewear when using any rotary tool such as this in case it comes apart, but any abrasive tool will generate particles and dust.

This disc did the trick on an iron skillet rescued from the Smoky Mountain fires this past November. I had seen a video on its use and determined that this would do the trick. The video and my thought were both correct. Fifteen minutes of stripping the rust and residue from the skillet and clean as new. I bought two just in case I wore down the one on one of three skillets I needed to do, but when I compared it with the new one, there was hardly any wear. I would recommend this to anyone doing heavy duty stripping.

I used it to strip rust and chipped paint from a steel door. It worked great. You need to use low rpms and figure out the right angle and pressure.

We used several of these discs to strip paint off of brick and it worked great. Took the paint right off without damaging the brick. Highly recommended.

The Avanti Pro did the job quickly and easily. I had an old iron pot which I was cleaning with steel wool, but it was taking forever to clean off the rust. I bought the Avanti Pro and within about a half an hour the rust was gone. Job well done.

Purchased primarily to recondition an old cast iron frying pan, prior to re-seasoning, this disc did a good job of removing years of build-up and rust. Note....it is a slow process....approximately 30 minutes for a 12 inch diameter pan...but the results were good....
