Excellent product!
I had badly cracked boards, but no rot just deep cracks. I started to apply the prep coat to fill the cracks in the direction of the cracks. I finally figured out I needed to apply perpendicular to the crack and then a light feather stroke in the direction of the grain. It’s amazing the coverage.
I wanted a smooth coverage but the 1/2” nap gave me a texture I did not like. So, I applied crack filler with a brush and used a foam roller to smooth. Goes on like melted butter!!!!

Deck rotted within a year
Followed all directions to a tee. Allowed deck to dry in non humid heat for 3 days and half by deck boards are completely rotted throughout. They were fine beforehand, just wanted to do some preventative maintenance. Should’ve just left it alone. Can’t believe this stuff is still on the shelves. Same thing happened to a friends deck. Do NOT use this stuff!

Stay away. Simply not suitable for cold climates.
Absolute garbage. Spent hours and hours prepping wood per instructions. Looked great during the summer. After 1 winter its all peeled. Great concept but simply does not work in cold climates. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from this junk as possible.

To fix the issue, I recommend removing the loose coating by scraping, sanding, or power washing at a low level. Then clean the surface with the All-In-One Wood Cleaner and let it dry, then apply 2 coats of the Advanced Deckover per the label directions. Horrible
2 years applied properly and I went through my deck. No problems were visible before my foot went through the deck. I then took a scraper and peeled back the paint at all Butt end joints which is where the board failed. I found wet boards under each joint sitting between the paint and the wood. Wish I had read the class action lawsuit but a Home Depot worker suggested it! I’ve jumped through Behr hoops with samples of paint and wood mailed for $15 and pictures and questionnaires filled out.

Too early to tell if it will last
I like the idea of this product, that it covers thickly, flaws and cracks. It took me at least three coats. It goes on like gravy, or like a chocolate sauce. I want it to last a few years. I hope it will. I am giving three stars for the idea, and the color, but I cannot rate it higher until time has passed. Also, a bit disappointed that it took so many coats. However, I was painting over an old surface that was not perfectly prepped.

NO.
Virgin wood. A full day of sunny drying time after ANY rain. Dozens of hours painting two coats on my 350 sq ft. deck. PEELING IN WEEKS. ZERO STARS. I will never shop at home depot again.

Perfect for refinishing old decks
I used just under a gallon to refinish 2 small decks. The wood on the decks is in rough shape so this was a great product to use in the meantime until they can be replaced

Do not use this!!!!
At first it was great pretty color felt good. Did all the prepping I needed to do before application. Fast forward to 3 years later and almost $1000 spend replacing the rotted wood. My entire stairs were rotted!! A lot of the boards on my deck are also rotted. Trust me if you want your deck to last…stay away from this crap! If I could give it 20 negative stars that would t be enough.

Great for the purpose it was made for.
This is great paint. Covers well, texture is amazing for the deck and home depot matched our color perfectly. The biggest drawback is it is very thick so it is difficult to apply with a roller.

Disaster on the deck
A year after applying this product I found it was not only peeling off, but where I peeled it away the wood was wet – so it was sealing water in instead of repelling it. It was a disaster. Forget the $ I paid for it, what I really hate is the time I spent prepping the surface (washing with a special cleaner, filling and sanding), and scraping it off most recently. After 10 hours of scraping at least enough of it has been removed so I think it will not cause more dam.ge to the deck, even while it still looks terrible!

Deckover works.
It is true that Deckover covered many sins on our older deck. It took twice as much paint as the product guidance indicated: 4 gallons to cover our 140 sq ft deck with two coats. After trying with a roller, we had much better results by applying the first coat with a brush; Much easier to fill cracks with this method. Will submit another review after 1 year of wear.

Complete Failure
Needed to scape off the peeling paint a 2 time. Four years ago we applied Deck Over for the 1st time. Followed all the directions on cleaning the deck with Behr deck cleaner. This lasted about 2 years then peeled. This product is creating a film of paint on top of the decking boards, it then forms small cracks which allow water in. The trapped water rots the pressure treated decking. The 2nd time we power washed and re-applied the Deck Over, because Behr is usually a great product. Now we will try an oil based product which pernitrates into the wood.

Worked great to give my deck a touch up
Bought a house that has this on the deck, current paint was about two years old, so bought two gallons to prep for the winter months. Cleaned and dried it, applied with a half inch nap roller and couldn't be happier. Looks great. Goes on fast, so once you start don't stop.

Good coverage on an old deck
Looks great when finished. Yes it’s thick and took a few coats but was it very helpful to get in all the old nooks and crannies of old wood. Gave us at least a few extra years instead of fully replacing the deck.
Behr, any tips on what to add as a final coat to stop dirty puppy paw prints from always sticking? Even after sweeping as in the picture, it still looks dirty.

Peels after a year DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!
Sanded down to the wood and prepped using all the products Behr recommends on the product label and applied using a roller just as recommended. After a year the paint peeled and cracked and looks like complete garbage. Regret spending all the time prepping only to waste the time and money on this product. Please do your research and get a better quality product with a manufacturer that stands behind their product!

Finally got it right
Took 3 tries but finally got it right. You have to water down this product and make sure the boards are waterproof first. Used at least five cans in the past but only needed less than 2 this time. I'll be doing consulting on my technique in the future.

Good, but patchy
The textured paint is just the right amount of grit, but the sheen is uneven. I followed all the directions and used a 1/2 in nap roller with 2 coats, but still came out uneven.
It definitely feels very durable but time will tell if it holds up.

Rotting wood
Less than 2 years ago I had my deck professionally painted using Behr Deckover bought at Home Depot. The deck was in good condition (i.e no rotten boards) and prepped and dry prior to application. Now I'm replacing boards due to rotting wood. It seems the "advanced" formula, which implies it was improved, in all actuality provided a false sense of security and is no better than what was used that prompted a class action lawsuit a few years ago.

Good for now
Our handyman did a great job. Looks good now. Time will tell once we see how it holds up to winter. Only finished 3 days ago. Used it on wooden panels on porch walls.. marks easily.. walking surfaces seems okay for now. Haven’t returned furniture yet due to rain and humidity issues. Unable to post photos since link doesn’t work. Rescue It paint worked better didn’t mark when accidentally bumped with a fingernail.

My husband put a coat of paint on our back porch which is 20 plus years it was recommended by a contractor that just fixed our steps it rained within 8 hours after he painted them but it held up and was fine !

RUINS Deck Boards.
1. Cracks develop soon after application, allowing water to seep in and saturate and rot deck boards.
2. Doesn't adhere to smooth boards at all - peals off in sheets.
3. Sticks to rough boards concealing the rot it causes.
I have had to replace approx half my deck boards within 4 years. More rot to be exposed once the Deckover is 100% removed.
THIS PRODUCT SHOULD NOT BE USED ON WOOD!

Great product..bad color choice
I always heard how durable and awesome this product was. So i finally bought some for my concrete porch which needed a facelift. I did the correct prep work. I love the product..however. heres the downfall..the color. I got cape cod gray which looks more like a light baby blue when put on. I will be ourchasing a darker color to go over it as im not satisfied. And my homedepot doesnt accept returns on this product so im stuck with a gallon.

SO FAR SO GOOD
I vastly underestimated the amount of paint it would take for our 14x24 deck. The final count was 8 cans. Should of bought the big bucket but hindsight and all...
Extra textured x 2 layers with some touch ups afterwards. I neglected to read the part about filling in cracks and screw holes before the first layer so we did that between layers and it worked out fine.
This stuff has the same consistency as chocolate pudding. Just be prepared for some mess as it flies off the roller a bit.

Terrible Product
Unfortunately not possible to leave zero stars. Considering all the negative reviews, I am surprised you are still selling this product. This is the worst product I have ever used. Followed the instructions to the letter and it was like paining with concrete. The following year, it was peeling off! Even though it’s peeling, it’s stuck fast in other places so it is impossible to remove. Had to spend a fortune replacing 32 foot long decking boards. I would appreciate some compensation for the time and money this has cost me!
