Seat Cracked less than 48 hours after installation!
Purchased this because it was constructed of wood rather than plastic and reviews were quite good. Ordered this on October 24, installed on November 2; seat cracked on November 4.

Bought 4, no install issues, and they work great. Toilet manufacturers should stop including cheap, flimsy plastic seats with toilets you purchase. They should let the owner decide what seat they want and lower the price of a toilet because now there are 4 plastic seats sitting in a landfill somewhere. How many new seats get thrown away every year? Darn shame.

We replaced all three toilet seats in our home with the Bemis slow close. We've had them only a week but they seem sturdy and well made. The brushed nickel hinges and glossy finish to the wood provde a clean and modern look to all 3 bathrooms. Love the slow close for when the grandkids visit!

The problem for me is that it wouldn't close all the way down after a few months of use. The lids stayed up in the "Heil Hitler" position....... even oiling them did not help.
For that reason I would not recommend it and gave it a 4 star. Hoping mine was an isolated issue.

Thank you for your review. We apologize for any inconvenience that these issues have caused you. With the paint coming off of the seat, it could be because of the cleanser that you are using to clean your seat with. Bemis Manufacturing supplies cleaning instructions with all toilet seats stating to use a mild soap and warm water. A mild soap is hand soap, such as Dial, or dishwashing detergent. Other cleaners are too strong and will start to degrade the clear coat finish and paint on a molded wood seat. Once the discoloration occurs, there is no way to bring the seat back to the original finish.
