Do not buy!
I’ve contacted the manufacturer to report that I’ve had multiple of these that broke. The last one broke and cut skin in two places. I simply wanted to know if there was anything in the design that would be of concern if under the skin. A lady was diligent at their manufacturing plant about taking down every bit of my information but absolutely no one called me back. Home Depot can do better than manufacturing companies like this one!

*** BUYER BEWARE * This toilet seat BROKE 6 times
Broke 6 times in 6 years. Stupid me purchased it two times; the other times was replaced free of charge by HD (but they don't do that anymore). Now no returns after 90 days and no returns of toilet items (per manager at HD). Manufacturer's warranty is supposedly one year, but good luck with that.
Seat breaks. Made out of cheap particle board. You go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and suddenly CRACK! - the seat breaks. Then good luck not geting pinched.
VERY POOR QUALITY SEAT.

DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS
I purchased this toilet seat with the automatic down lid. I thought this was a better quality because that’s what I was looking for and a more sturdy seat. The problem is when I clean it. The finish is coming off of it. It is wearing away at the layers of the paint I even tried just using soap and water but when you wipe it it’s taking off more and more and of course you have to use disinfectant stuff on it and it just is taking it off in spots down to a grayish color . This bathroom is hardly ever used, this doesn’t make sense to me. I do not recommend this at all.

White has a bluish/greenish tint
This product is very nice, but it has a bluish/ green tint to it. I didn't expect it to be a perfect match with the many shades of porcelain already existing, and I wish it didn't bother me so much, but I'm going to opt for the black seat with the chrome instead. Posting this for customers that may also be color sensitive.

Quality has gone way down.
Bemis seats used to be great. Changes to the shape and materials have led to some serious defects. Seats are cracking, mostly on the left side. When you lean to the left to wipe, it puts all your weight on the left side. The composite materials can't handle the weight, and crack. See photos. Based on the other reviews of Bemis seats, this seams to be a common problem.

Gold peels off & lid gets discoloration
I loved the look of this product and was very happy with it initially. It wasn't long before the gold on the hardware started to come off. I didn't realize that the gold was painted on and it was flaking off and looking ugly. The black was getting discoloration all over the place. This is a very disappointing, poor quality piece!

CRACKS EASILY--CHEAP COMPOSITION
I have purchased two of these same seats in less than two years. My most recent one cracked within months, in the same place. In all my life I have never seen toilet seats crack like this--except if they were very old, and then, it wasn't the seat that cracked, but the hinges...and that was after DECADES of use.

Toilet seat was beautiful and looked sturdy. However the seat part you sit on cracked within 3 weeks of purchase, so it is useless now. Sinks that they make these wooden seats out of composite wood now instead of solid wood like they used too. I guess I'll have to replace this seat with a plastic one that hopefully won't break as easily. I do not recommend this product. I read other reviews about this seat cracking but thought that was just a fluke.

3 problems - Broke within 18 months. :(
I HATE when companies make things designed to break. It’s so wasteful, and such a shame.
This is basically crappy particle board painted white.
CONS:
X started bubbling on the surfaces where apparently the wood was not properly sealed. Top and bottom sides. (We absolutely do not leave moisture on the seats).
XX 2/3 seats stopped staying open whilst in use. (Sorry, guys! Pee fast!).
XXX The seat cracked clean through this week after -maybe- 18 mos.
FOR SHAME, BEMIS. DO BETTER.

Great hardware, but seat breaks in about 1 year.
Bought 2 of these in 10/2018. First seat broke in 03/2020. Bought a replacement. Next seat broke in 10/2020. Complained; Home Depot replaced under warranty. Third one broke in 2021; Home Depot replaced under warranty. 03/2022 seat broke; warranty not good anymore, bought another one. Last night seat broke; replaced today 09/04/2023 at Home Depot under warranty.
Really like the way it is a slow close with the hardware. But --- there is a definite issue with the seat breaking.

Bought this toilet seat 6 weeks ago to replace the one that was 15 years old. Sitting on the john and I hear “pop”. It cracked in the same place as everyone elses on the left side. Trash. $30 plus dollars for junk as i didn’t even consider keeping the receipt for a freakin toilet seat!

Purchased 2 for home and office both cracked
Purchase first one for a brand new home to replace plastic seat. Installed great no issues tight and no movement.
Bought a second one for my private office bathroom less than a month apart. Same easy install - worked great.
Less than 6 weeks later the office one cracked 2 weeks after that the home one cracked almost in the same place.
Cant find replacement seat only - lid and hardware still brand new.
Obviously this is a manufacturing defect.

Decent Quality, Price a little high
I’ve had this toilet seat for about 6 months and recently the seat cracked on the right side all the way through. So the seat is a decent seat for the brushed nickel and soft close lid maybe just not the best quality seat.

Decent Quality Seat; Crooked Chinese Hardware
The Enameled Wood Seat is pretty good quality (sturdy and solid). The slow close hinges that came with mine were installed crooked which looks distasteful. Slow close is a nice feature.

Seat cracked within two months
Purchased this because it appeared to be high quality construction. Hinges look great and the wood felt solid. Loved that it was quiet close and it was also easy to install.
However, the seat cracked badly within two months of normal, typical usage. After checking reviews here and speaking with the customer service department at Bemis I’ve come to find out that they had many reports of their seats cracking due to the engineering of the seat itself. This was directly from their customer service department, who I’ll admit was very friendly and apologetic.

Absolute trash
Bought a year ago. It is of poor quality. The white paint wears off from cleaning it. Most of the “metal” is plastic with a metalish coating that wears off and peals after a few months, which just looks bad. Had to replace it because the particle board that it is made of stripped from the screws. They didn’t even give you stainless bolts to use. Had to cut the seat off with a jack saw and melt the plastic bolt off to get it off.
Don’t buy this.

Please do not use bleach, vinegar, pine or essential oils, chlorine, acid, scouring powders, detergents, disinfectants, or products in aerosol cans. Harsh chemicals and abrasives can rub away the paint finish on enameled wood and the metal finish on the metal hinges. This can create a dull look on plastic toilet seats and a worn look on enameled wood seats, along with corrosion and peeling of the metal hinge finish.

Broke after 3 years, 4 months.
It was an easy install, and was a perfectly functional seat for 3+ years.
Nice and tight, no flex or movement, and then as I’m sitting I feel a slight movement. Finish up and.. broken seat.
No extreme overweight use, normal ranges up to maybe 250. Regular users under 210.

It will support your butt, but.........
I just installed four of these and I regret it. Yes they function and are easy to install, but I regret buying them. The metal hinges use a cheap "brushed" metal plating that doesn't hold up to standard cleaning supplies. After a short time they start peeling and look *terrible*. I also found a high amount of scratches and had to make multiple trips to return them. The quality control is really bad from the 7 I had to unbox to 4 that only had minor dings. :(

Broke in a week, TWO defects!
What can I say... After I installed it, I noticed that it has a small manufacturing defect in the lid but I didn't want to go through the trouble of returning it. A week later it cracked. Keep in mind, my last lid lasted 20 years. I'm a big guy but I'm not overweight. Avoid this, it looks like it's made from cheap particle board...excuse me, ahem "recycled materials".

This was very easy to install and it appears to be made well-made. I opted for the wood version as opposed to the plastic version and I am glad that I did. I will eventually replace all of the toilet seat covers in our home (4 toilets total) with the same brand and model.

3 weeks later this should NOT be an issue
We had recently shipped at a rival store and saw a similar product that was not in stock. A week or so later we made a stop at HD for another item and walked through the aisle with toilet seats and found this matching item that we liked in stock (yet more expensive), so we grabbed it. This seat replaced one that was over 15 years old that was technically still serviceable, it obviously was worn after so many "uses" over the years. IT was quality. This IS NOT quality. 3 weeks IS NOT quality.

Top quality toilet seat!
I recently purchased a toilet that came with a plastic seat. I found it too beveled to be comfortable, so I bought a wooden one by Bemis. It is very comfortable to sit on, the lid closes quietly and slowly, and the metal hardware that screws into the toilet bowl is top quality! It fits perfectly and looks sturdy.

Well-made and easy to assemble I really like the plastic...
Well-made and easy to assemble I really like the plastic nuts that snap off so you don’t over tighten. I never had an easy close seat it’s a little on the slow side and the hinges look like two rolls of quarters other than that it’s a really great product.
