Only 260 CFM
Install is good, easier than other brands. Nice finish, lights are decently bright, no brightness setting. Advanced DIY project be warned! Mine required drilling through a 2foot thick stone wall (century home) power from the panel, etc. 1 star: Blower is VERY loud on high and ONLY 260cfm... that's from the manufacturer's specs plate. False advertisement? Yes Sir !!! I would have definitely bought another model instead. I bought this hood thinking about upgrading my stove to gas in the future, which requires 300 cfm. At the advertised 375 cfm on the box, I could, but at 260cfm I'll need to replace the fan when I upgrade. Why does Nutone do that ??

Response from VENMAR Technical ServicesApr 8, 2024
Hello Handy Luke, we apologize for your experience. The hood can be used ducted or non-ducted. When non-ducted, the max CFM is 375. When ducted and static pressure is added to the unit, the max CFM depending on the ducting can be 260CFM. In most cases, 300CFM is not sufficient for a gas stove application. Please contact us at 1-800-567-3855 so we may try to assist. Thank you!
Good but I will recommend to get a higher CFM
Bought it to replace a 30 yo range hood. It's good enough if you cook on a wok, but if I could, I will buy a hood with higher CFM with baffle filter.

      Sleek Appearance and Versatility
Sleek and simple in appearance. Finish is brushed stainless. Light and fan controls are on the underside in front of the screens. Fairly lightweight, easily carried by one person. Overall appears well made. At first I thought mine had a flawed finish. It was actually just very dirty. I used mild dish soap and water to clean it and thankfully found the finish was fine. It did take a while to clean it up. Parts and hardware stored under the screens. This model AVSF130SS has the heat resistant LEDs. I see no way of replacing them. I have bright lighting in my kitchen so won't be devastated when they burn out, but not crazy about LEDs you can't easily replace in an appliance. This model is convertible. Can have ductless installation. You have to buy filters for this method. They are not included. Just has the grease screens. Instructions and template for all modes of installation are included. A bit confusing and diagrams are busy and small. There is a brief Youtube video specifically for the Mantra models that better demonstrate how to install. It is a quick video so you'll still want to keep your paper instructions handy. We are redoing an old kitchen with great wood cabinets. They just are too low over the stove so we have shorten them before installing the exhaust fan. Will most likely install ductless for simplicity and economy. It's a small kitchen so can't add in anything crazy. I like the simplicity of appearance.

      Stylish Hood
As part of our kitchen remodel, we have chosen the Broan NuTone Mantra AVSF130SS 30” Range Hood. This is a very attractive and stylish hood, with the control buttons neatly tucked away underneath up front. The fan blade assembly measures a whopping 12” across which ought to move plenty of exhaust. There’s great flexibility in how you can install this hood as it can be ducted to the rear or to the top or even non vented. As soon as our cabinets come in, we’ve elected to do the non vented mount and utilize the EZ1 brackets included.

Love the stainless steel finish, illuminates nicely, bold Impressive design and easy installation.
What an easy installation with this 30 inch under cabinet range hood. Make sure to remove the blue protective polyfilm prior to use. The mounting hardware included either in framed or frameless cabinet with the EZ1 one person installation brackets or the standard method which will require two person install. Two speed blower, dual LED lighting with one high option light setting. It illuminates my cooking area very well. Wish there was a lower light setting. The stainless steel finish runs throughout the range and looks excellent and matches my kitchen appliances. Plenty of options for ducting position from horizontal, round vertical, non ducted and my selection vertical. Option to hardwire it directly or a power cord which is sold separately. The blower is smooth, quiet and efficient on either low/hight setting. The metal mesh grease filters are dishwasher safe, be sure to use non phosphate detergent otherwise the metal mesh will have discoloration but will not affect the performance. I appreciate the hidden rocker light/fan switches it's not out in front of the range hood. This range hood is two inches longer in depth compared to our previous hood which captures more smoke, odor and all. I really like the functionality, design and impressive bold front portion of the range. It really stands out nicely.

      Great looking range hood!
I needed to replace my kitchen range hood so I went with the Broan-NuTone Mantra AVSF1 30 in. 375 Max Blower CFM Convertible Under-Cabinet Range Hood with Light in Stainless Steel, Silver. This convertible range hood allows a variety of connections such as a top exhaust, back exhaust and also a room blower if you are not using an external exhaust. It uses am exclusive Broan Captur system, which combines advanced blower design with new filter technology, this 375 MAX Blower CFM-rated hood provides 98.1% removal of smoke and odor to protect your home and family from airborne pollutants caused from cooking. The exhaust hood is an easy installation and kit with a 1 person option using the hangers. The included hardware can be made for frameless or standard framed cabinets. The look of the hood is also great.

Easy up brackets really helped, big screens, flue damper works well
The included installation brackets really do help this be a one-person installation. I did have to open the prongs a bit and accurate location of the brackets is essential. The brackets hold the hood on place so that you have time to put in the screws that actually hold the hood in place. I used larger screws than the ones included because of the size of holes left by previous hoods. Every few years I replace the hood because they get so gummed up by grease that the fan doesn't work as well. These screens will likely do a better job since they are large and are 2 layers rather than the usual one. Time will tell. The rectangular flue flapper is better than the old one as it seems to close more effectively. Nice hood, easier to install, and looks more modern than many but still at a reasonable cost.

      A very nice upgrade
As part of our kitchen remodel, we have chosen the Broan NuTone Mantra AVSF130SS 30” Range Hood. Though it’s a very attractive and stylish hood, caution must be taken when handling it as there are several sharp edges to watch out for. I like that the control buttons are subtly tucked under the front. The fan blade assembly measures a whopping 12” across which ought to move plenty of exhaust. Since I elected to do the non vented mount, I will need to order the charcoal filters to replace the open mesh filters that come with it for vented installations. Also, since I’m not doing the direct connection to my house wiring, I will need to buy an appliance cord - both items I wish had been included.

Great update compared to old one
This Broan- NuTone Mantra kitchen exhaust fan is the best one we've had since owning our own homes. The flimsy builders model was loud and did not get the smoke out or catch the Greece. This model is exactly the same size so it was easy to install with the included attachments. It is supposed to be a one man job, but not for this old guy. I had my wife help me which made it so much easier to install. There is one big fan underneath as you can see in the photos. The stainless matches all other appliances we have. The only thing I wish it had was washable filters. You can buy a two pack at Homedepot and change as needed which is between 3 and 6 months. We definitely recommend this exhaust fan to update all old ones you might have.

Attractive range hood, bright lights, strong fan, surprisingly quiet. Installation might be easier than other models, but it’s definitely not EZ!
NSTALLATION: Don’t let the “EZ1” install system fool you - I wouldn’t recommend this for a novice. It requires knowledge of electrical work, ductwork, and power tools. You will need to procure additional parts. Houses are rarely perfect and you may need to make “adjustments”. This is not the fault of the range hood, just the complex realities of houses. . INSTRUCTIONS: But if you have decent skills then “EZ1” will make it easier than a conventional install. If only the instructions were better! The diagrams are too small, and some of the instructions are worded in a confusing way. Particularly the steps for installing the mounting brackets. It would have been simpler if they said, “use the mounting bracket as a spacer” - i.e., put both next to each other on one side. Mark the location of the “inner” one (away from the sides). Repeat on the other side. You still have to lift the unit tightly up against the bracket and slide it backwards until it clicks into place. Any bumps or imperfections on the underside of the cabinet will interfere. But once it’s there you no longer have to support it while you add four screws to permanently anchor it. . FUNCTIONALITY: The two LEDs are very bright. A “night light” function would have been nice, but as task lights, they’re excellent. The fan has two speeds - the lower is quiet, the faster is noticeable but not at all objectionable - you can hear it in the video. You can install the unit ducted or ductless - I chose the latter, so it blows the hot air or smoke up and over your head. If you’re very tall you’ll want to use the ducted approach. The filters are only grease shields, not charcoal filters. The stainless steel fingerprints VERY easily (see pic right out of the box), but cleans up with soap and water (avoid harsh chemicals or abrasives). . TIP on TERMINOLOGY and PARTS: The instructions call for “Strain relief, 1/2” diameter (to secure house wiring cable to the hood)”. You’ll need this part from Home Depot: “3/8 in. Non-Metallic (NM) Twin-Screw Cable Clamp Connectors (5-Pack)”. Yes, the ⅜” clamp fits the ½” knockout. . Overall a very nice range hood for a reasonable price. Recommended. . gets the smoke out quick
This exhaust fan has three different ways that can be installed vented overhead or the back or not vented at all. I installed it with the vent going out the back. This had a blurb about a one-man install and came with several brackets But there could not be more than a half-inch gap between the vent and the cupboard and how to install them was not clear in the provided directions. But with a helper and a few two by twos we got it installed. The fan has two speeds and when on low you can barely hear it and it did the job on low. when I cooked up some lunch.

      Perfect Kitchen Update
Not only has this got a modern style to it with a clean look to it. From the DIY standpoint, it's the best for self installation. Measure every direction and perfect fir replacement, better size in fact. Extremely flexible design, in that you can square vent it through the wall, square vent it up and out, or traditional round vent up to the roof. You have options with this one. Very easy to attach, frame cabinet or flat bottom. Though this is one of those weekend projects where you buy dinner out so you can get access to the stove area. A very sharp upgrade.

      Broan disappoints.
Design poorly. No grease cover. Grease can accumulate on inside of hood which is hard to clean with sharp edges and crooks & crannies. The only piece that is stainless is the nose which is spot welded to a super thin galvanized hood box. The ez bracket system is NOT that helpful due to a cheap design and very poor installation instructions and you tube video is too simplistic. Also, hood box has many holes on top that allows grease to rise into cavity are beneath the cabinet.

        Looks great and very quiet!!
Hood was easy to install and best of all, the light covers entire stove, not overbearing and almost can’t hear the fan on low, on high is of course not as quiet, however about half the noise that my old fan was on low!

I already installed it when I noticed that the other side was re-soldered. This product is not brand new. If the price that I paid is for a brand new product, it should be a new product.

              Such an easy project!
It was a breeze putting it in! I read other reviews before I started and it was just as they said. Easy and one person could do it. It is so quiet on the first fan speed.

incorrect or misleading information on the box .
Box indicated CFM Max 300 to 360, noticed the power was not what we expected, two times the house was full of smoke (fun on) from cooking. call service, they open the hood and , to our surprise CFM shows Low 150 High 250. Was that a returned item back in the wrong box? We would never know because we bought the range in September 21 when we did the kitchen reno, we got rid of the box.

The specification sheet for this model indicates it has a 375 "maximum blower cfm". Maximum blower cfm is when the motor is freestanding (not yet installed into the shell of the range hood). This number is static, and is therefore the best number to use when comparing range hoods. As soon as the motor is installed into a product, the cfm will lower, and as ductwork/elbows get added to the installation, it will drop even further. So, the final cfm is very dependant on the installation. The spec sheet also shows that at 0.1” S.P. (static pressure), this unit will perform at 240 cfm when using 3 ¼” x 10” vertical or horizontal installation. If using 7” round vertical installation, it is 260 cfm at 0.1” S.P. If the S.P. is greater than 0.1” then the cfm will drop accordingly. Ultimately, the cfm is completely dependant on the installation. The specification sheet should always be referred to for the most accurate information.
                Looks clean
Perfect for us. Clean, not too loud, nice bright lights. Easy to put in as well!

This fan was a little more money then I wanted to spend, but I’m glad I did! I have it exhausting outside my house and with the elongated fan reach In front it fits over my stove perfectly! Great suction and it’s fairly quiet for big of a fan it actually is. Definitely worth the money. Super easy install.

Is very nice and easy for assembly, the fan is very good on the high position! The only bad issue is what the lights come on 3000k only , because on my case I have 5000k on all my house. But this lights give too much the lumines and save too much energy! Its a good purchase!!!!

Purchased this Broan-NuTone Mantra 30in Range Hood to replace Over-the-Range Microwave. Can install this Range Hood as top, rear or chimney vent and with frame or frameless attachments. It comes with all required attachments/fixtures. For me it was top vent and framed installation. The vent fit in the exact spot of previous over-the-range microwave vent without any modifications at all. The Hood comes without 3-pin plug as its for hard-wiring. As I was replacing my microwave, I had to purchase a plug from HD. Its less than 20 lbs, thus its a single person installation, however, having 2 person helps ! Me and wife installed it in less than 2 hours. The provided AWG 18 wiring is supposed to go out from top via a hole, but the wire is too short. Had to attach another wire to fish it out the top hole and then connect a plug so I can connect it to receptacle inside the cabinet above the Hood as shown in the review photo. It has 2 speeds and 2 LED panels which are very bright. I would certainly recommend this product.

The range hood was easy to install since we already had a cut out in our cabinet from a vented microwave. Simple and Modern looking. The fan has 2 settings, the lower setting is quiet, however the upper setting sounds louder than what the manufacture states on the box. The fan pulls the smoke/steam/air well up the vent to the outside. There are 2 lights but only one setting off/on, very bright. We are pleased with the brightness of the lights, so we don't need all the kitchen lights on. Happy with purchase.

Looks, and preforms, better than expected. I read a lot of the reviews criticizing the LED lights on the range hood as being "too bright". I did not find that to be the case. They are bright, as bright as if you were actually cooking in the light of sun-light, but not overly bright. I find the lighting to be excellent, along with the entire range hood looks and operation. I had it professionally installed by my local electrician and an apprentice electrician that he brought with him. The two men came in, removed the old existing NuTone range hood (installed only 35 years ago; still running but very noisy because of worn out bearings in the motor), had the new range hood installed, and they were out-the-door in 45 minutes. Everything working perfectly. P.S.; I would highly recommend hiring a licensed electrician or H.V.A.C. company to install your new range hood. It only cost me $150.00 for installation. That was $150.00 well spent.

Instructions are simple with three types of vent paths. Damper went in easiliy and the only add on was some metal duct tape around the Damper assembly. The hood unit went in easily (lined up perfectly with previous unit mount holes) with a little assistance from my spouse. Plan for a helping hand in holding unit in place when mounting hood vent. High setting is more powerful than previous unit at about the same or even less sound. Finish matches new stove perfectly. Very happy with this purchase. I also purchased the HOODPT3 Rangehood Cord Connection Kit but would only recommend using it if you have a receptacle installed or plan on putting one in. In the end I didn't need it.

ZERO Stars for serious electrical safety problem! When I went to connect power to my new AVSF130WW range hood (date code 02L18T), I discovered a serious electrical safety problem. The ground bond area under the green ground screws was painted over (see photo); the NEC requires this area to be bare metal to connect properly with the green wire safety ground (NEC regulation quoted at the end of this review). The problem also exists for those local electrical codes that require metal conduit to ground bond the hood - the electrical knockouts are painted over as well. I spoke with an engineer at Broan-Nutone on 10 Feb 2021 about this and he CONFIRMED THE AREAS SHOULD NOT BE PAINTED. Proper grounding to this area of the metal hood is what protects you from being killed or seriously injured by a loose or worn power wire inside the hood, so it needs to be correctly implemented! Because this is a mass produced item, it’s highly likely that this manufacturing problem exists on units other than just mine. Additionally, it seems likely that this metal hood is used for other models with different fan/light/control combinations, so those other models may also have this problem. If you recently purchased one of these, you should turn off the power to it until the ground bond area can be inspected - and repaired, if necessary. If your range hood does require repair, contact Broan-Nutone, even if it's out of warranty. This is a serious electrical safety issue, not a wear issue, and they should repair it, no matter when it was purchased or installed. FYI, my background is: recently retired as a Life Member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). NEC Article 250-96 states: “Metal raceways, cable trays, cable armor, cable sheath, enclosures, frames, fittings, and other metal noncurrent carrying parts that are able to serve as grounding conductors, with or without the use of supplementary equipment grounding conductors, shall be effectively bonded where necessary to ensure electrical continuity and the capacity to conduct safely any fault currents likely to be imposed on them. Any nonconductive paint, enamel, or similar coating shall be removed at threads, contact points, and contact surfaces or be connected by means of fittings designed so as to make such removal unnecessary.”
