This is a nice piece of plywood for indoor projects that have only one "show" side. The rough-sawn side has a nice rustic appearance. It has good-looking grain and color variation and the rough-sawn saw marks. The opposite side is plain without distinctive grain. The piece I received had no voids on the reverse, but many others have reported voids. This is fine for a lot of projects, definitely good to know ahead if you are purchasing online.

This birch plywood is great, and both sides are constructed slightly differently to give you some flexibility in how you want to use the piece. One side is a solid veneer and smooth, the other side is a composition of 4 different pieces of birch and is a bit rougher. This side looks like traditional paneling. Both sides look great and could be used for your finished piece, it just depends what look you're after. One of the sides had a few big knots in it that you may or may not want in a finished piece. These were filled and sealed, but still present. The piece that I received was straight with perfect 90 corners and laid flat on my workbench with no noticeable warping to it.

I am quite impressed with the quality of this ½” Birch project panel. It has a high quality finish, is perfectly square, and lies flat with no bending or bowing whatsoever. It would look great stained or painted. The board was packaged well for shipping so it arrived to me without any defects. It’s worth noting the two sides have different finishes – one side appears to be four different strips of wood with clearly different grain patterns while the other side is one continuous piece.

Got this board to do a wedding sign for a special family friend. The wood grain is really nice and takes stain very well. Nice and clean lines, but just rustic enough to suit her style! The 1/4" thickness will make it nice and light. The board is a series of panels fused together which was just the look I was after. Came nicely boxed and protected. I'll be getting more of these for my projects!

Very high quality DIY piece of boarding. You could use this for so many different types of projects. I was initially planning to use for my son's old school photos for a Look back on the past school collage. Then, I looked around the room and thought "No, I have a better idea". I decided to remove my wall clock and the Family Live Laugh sign and attach to this plywood to rehang in the same spot in my living room above the mantel. This will assist in hiding the wall imperfections I've created over time from nail holes, etc., that I haven't yet been able to paint or repair. I think I'll probably take this down sometime and paint partially gray and partially redwood or something that showcases the sunburst clock. I'm pretty impressed with my idea. Nice product. Thanks!

This is a piece of plywood. Albeit a very nice piece of plywood. High quality in a plywood package. The ends show the different layers and the very precise cuts look clean. I didn't even need to sand the edges to avoid splinters. This is a heavy stock of wood, even at just 2x4 feet. Using this for small projects is easy, a few pieces for a shelf or a wall backer for tool organizing. The cut is exactly 24" by 48" by 3/4". The finish is good as would be expected. I had a small imperfection on one side but as a wood product, that does not bother me. I would suggest cutting carefully if using any power tools, as the outer Birch layer is thin. Cleans up well and sands smooth. I may need more and this may become my go-to for 3/4 plywood stock.

I used this panel to make Cornhole boards. I opted to use sheets precut to 2’x4’ rather than ripping down a larger piece of plywood solely to make the build faster and easier. I was impressed with the quality of this panel. “Rough Sawn” led me to believe I was going to be doing a lot of sanding to get it nice and smooth, but it was much higher quality than I expected. I performed a light sanding with 220 grit sand paper and it was ready to go. I’m very happy with the way it turned out!

I had purchased one of these smaller panels for some prototyping of a cabinet for my shop. As you can see in the pictures i found two problems with this panel. The first was that the face of the panel had large knotty patches that were uneven ad. This can be dealt with, especially ind would require filling prior to finishing. This also means that using a clear finish is out of the question. The bigger problem is that the panel had quite a few gaps, where the plys below the surface had holes or gaps. This can make an edge look unfinished - again not a huge issue if you are painting, it can be filled, but its just one more step.

This birch plywood panel is just the right size and weight for me to handle. I am planning to make it a companion piece to a ramp I made from another plywood panel for my storage shed, because a wider ramp will be necessary for some items. I am afraid this stage two project needs to be put on hold for the time being due to the time of year - season change, inclement weather, etc. This project board is a great item if you have small projects you want or need to do.

Beautiful 2x4 sheet of 3/4 birch. It is already sanded but I will probably give it another once over before sealing. I’ll be using this to make a seat for a swing under my covered deck. It should be perfect. It was delivered in really good protective packaging and was received in damaged. I would definitely purchase this item again can’t wait to get this cut and stained!

This is a beautiful piece of wood. I plan to use it to replace a tabletop on an old school table that I am in the process of refinishing. It did arrive packaged very well and with no damage. I believe the description of the item does say that it is sanded and it is sanded very smooth on the top side of the board. I would definitely buy this item again

My wife got this dresser on buy nothing. It didn't have a back to it. This birch board worked perfectly to stabilize it side to side. Cut it to fit the dresser width. It wasn't quite large enough to cover the whole back so I ripped it in half and used my air nail gun to secure it to the back. It makes the dresser sturdy and is now good to use. It's thickness is perfect and made for an easy and more durable fix than the cheap backing that comes with most dressers.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this panel. The description says rough sawn so I was expecting something less finished but the panel is smooth and the cuts are all very clean. Because it's only a quarter inch thick its very light weight, and although light weight it is very sturdy. For the piece that I received I found that one side has the look of four side by side pieces but the other side has the appearance of just one large piece. This was very nice and I think the side that I'll display.

Specialty surface for interior use only. Not smooth. Water-based adhesive............................... This is an unbiased review that is unaffected by the fact that I received this product for free. As proof of impartiality, just click on my nickname and see the average of the ratings I have given over 300 reviews to date. Make sure you understand that this is nothing but a special decorative surface. The surface has streaks to simulate rough sawing. If that is not what you want, buy the larger smooth finished panels. They are about the same price per square foot. For the 3/4" think panels, they are described as having 7 layers but, while technically accurate, the two outer decorative veneers/layers are extremely thin. The same goes for the 1/2" thick panels which have three layers and two veneers. I would not try to sand very much on either the top or bottom surface. This plywood does not have the thicker veneers that you used to find in these stores. However the price per square foot is about the same as before. The "bottom/back" surface is similar to the top one, however there may be voids in the bottom layer that would make it unusable when exposed. Of the three panels I received (1/2" Oak, 3/4" Oak and 3/4" Birch), one had a long void, with adhesive showing, on the reverse side. I recommend buying these only in the store so you can examine both sides and edges. I am a little unsure about the soy-powder water-based adhesive used to join the layers. It has not been studied enough over time to be sure it will not de-laminate when damp. These panel are not specified for exterior use. Even the experts in this field say that more testing is needed over the long term. Also, being a food-based substance, I do wonder about the likelihood of insects eating it. Make no mistake, this is NOT a 5-star product but may be useful for specific "projects".

I ordered this panel with a project in mind but now that I have received it I think I may go a different direction. I think the description reading "rough sawn" led me to believe that it was more for projects where you wouldn't see the wood come through but upon receiving it I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it looked. It has a very smooth finish and actually one side has the appearance of one continuous piece and I think I may go for a new project where you can see it more.

The wood material was clean, clear of defects and square making it ready for use without additional preparation. I made a storage box using 1"x1" stock for the corners fastening with wood glue and 1" brad nails from a Ryobi 18+ finish nail gun. I did a light sanding and finished with a latex paint. I added handles on the sides and a hinged door on the front closing with a hasp and lock. The wood material was easy to work with.

This panel is very nice stock for your projects. The panel is flat and consistent in thickness. The rough sawn side has a nice saw pattern. Both side veneers are of the same wood species. The secondary wood (interior veneers) appear to be solid with no voids. The outer veneers are fairly thin, but should be thick enough for light sanding and provide a nice finish when stained, oiled, or varnished.

This is a great, high quality piece of plywood for any small projects. Compared to a full 4x8 sheet of finished plywood, this is a smaller, but in my opinion, better quality sheet. This is very dense, very strong, I really couldn't get much flex out of this sheet at all, which is great. This is more of an arts and crafts kind of board vs building, but I'd recommend this to anyone that doesn't want or need a full 4x8 sheet of plywood. The Home Depot sells a number of sizes of precut plywood, this is the size I'd pick and the quality is excellent.

This is a very unique plywood veneer product. It should be exclusively used for decorative projects. It has a unique foam core. It seems very solid. It did suffer some minor damage on the corners during shipping. To be fair I cannot say if and all wood product would have encountered the same damage. I love the Finish. There are two sides. One that is solid. The other side gives the appearance of planks. I have a project that I'm going to do later this winter with it. Can't wait to try it

Columbia Forest Products 1/4 in. x 2 ft. x 4 ft. Rough Sawn Birch Plywood Project Panel I often use a foldable display for my hobbies and project displays. I have, in the past used the standard foam display panels available at the office supplies store (used for science fairs and such). I want to create a more permanent and professional display using the Columbia Forest Products 1/4 in. x 2 ft. x 4 ft. Rough Sawn Birch Plywood Project Panel. Not only is this wood a great choice because of its appearance and its durability, but also for its environmentally safe composition. That means quality woods and veneers, and no formaldehyde used, thus no toxic off-gasses. The product quality will make it easy to cut and shape, then join together with glue, hinges, and small screws. With the wood’s finish, it will take staining well. I’ll add photos on the project when completed.

This birch panel is a nice piece to add a wood grain look for your project. Quality is very nice, but remember, this is a natural wood product and there might be some flaws. My piece had not one. Staining and finishing can proceed with no further sanding or preparation. Compared to lower grades of plywood, this product is superb with no warping, chips or other damage. Even the back side of these pieces looks nice.

This birch panel is a nice piece to add a wood grain look for your project. Quality is very nice, but remember, this is a natural wood product and there might be some flaws. My piece had a small void that was filled and sanded nicely, but will probably not look good once it is stained and finished. Compared to lower grades of plywood, this product is superb with no warping, chips or other damage. Even the back side of these pieces look nice.

This is a really nice 2' x 4' sheet of 5-ply birch plywood, perfect for the small display stand I plan to build. I like that the adhesive used is environmentally friend soy-based rather than urea formaldehyde commonly used in bonding the plywood sheets. There were minimal voids between plys and the surface relatively free of nicks and manufacturing defects. The nominal thickness of this 1/2" plywood is pretty accurate at .49 inches with my digital calipers.

This plywood is topped with birch which makes for a nice looking piece of wood. The plywood is smooth and flat making for an easy piece to work with. The 3/4 inch thickness makes it very strong and as thick as a 1" piece of milled lumber. I am planning on using this piece to make a built-in cutting board to replace a missing one in an old house. This plywood takes nails and screws well and can be glued without issue. It should take an oil or stain well. I would highly recommend this wood for any project where a 3/4" thickness is needed.

I had this birch wood project panel shipped directly to my home. The packaging was sufficient for transporting wood paneling and the box was marked “fragile”. The birch wood panel is 2 sided. One side uses 4 strips of various patterned wood veneer laid side by side. This side of the panel was rough, not sanded completely and had noticeable sideways machining marks and lines. The other side of the panel is one veneer piece so the grain is consistent. This side of the panel is sanded much smoother and has no machining marks. There was one imperfection about the size of a quarter on this sanded side due to a knot in the wood. As such the veneer at this spot was missing so you could see the layer below which was a different color. Overall I liked the golden color of the birchwood and the panel itself seemed sturdy and well built.

Columbia Forest Products 1/4 in. x 2 ft. x 4 ft. Rough Sawn BirchPlywood Project Panel is a great solution for small projects. The surface is rustic hardwood (a rough cut) appearance that works well on any furniture or cabinetry piece. This 1/4 in. panel is comprised of 100% natural wood and assembled with a soy-based, formaldehyde-free glue so it won't subject interior spaces to any toxic off-gassing. The hardwood core substrate is layered in alternating cross bands with the birch veneer, augmenting the rigidity, strength and flatness you expect from hardwood for lasting durability and enduring beauty. I got this as a back up piece to the red oak board.
