If you are comfortable buying a product that is not supported by the manufacturer, by all means go ahead and buy this. However, if you expect to able to speak to someone if issues arise, think twice before buying this. I have attempted no less that 7 times (phone calls and emails) get support. I have been promised numerous times that someone would get back to me. No one ever has. As far as customer service goes, this gets an "F".

Cost me my job.
I work for a large developer as a site manager, and when they announced we were starting to use these, I was pretty happy to have a bit of load lifted off of my shoulders.
About a month in, two units on our job boxes started having connection issues. The folks up top were receiving notifications, not me, and I had no idea this was happening.
I was twice reprimanded for “moving equipment off site after hours” (or someone I oversaw) despite the boxes being on the site the entire time.
Eventually I was let go for failing to maintain accurate accounts of assets, even though I had logs and sign out sheets showing a chain of custody. I believe these units provided enough cover for the folks above me to make this claim when their real reason was reduced profits.
Seems like trust and honesty in hard work don’t count for anything anymore.

Not so much
Android phone(s) never linked to this device. Just save your money and lock up your tools. This "good" idea doesn"t work
