I just bought this unit with low expectations since I live in Florida. I decided to go mini splits over conventional so I can control costs. It was a good choice. Easy to install. Wall bracket should be built to adapt to standard 16 on center wall framing.

This is a great DIY project that saved me over $2,000.00 over what I was quoted. Unit is super quiet and works great. Easy to follow instructions and while I have some mechanical experience I think anyone that has some wrenches, a screwdriver and a little sense can install it. I never award 5 stars but I did for this purchase because it deserved it. I have only had it for a month so no comment on the longevity other than to say it seems very well built. So far it has pleased me in every way!

Installed the unit in a basement remodel. The installation was straight forward for a medium skilled individual and the unit looks and fits well into the space. Only recommendation is that I would upsize to the next model as it is having a tough time keeping up in the cold temperatures we are having. I live in Pennsylvania and the temps have been pretty low so believe a bigger unit could provide more heating capability. All other features (cooling, operations) have been very good.

So aside from some basic knowledge on how to screw in a light bulb I had never tackled anything this big, after watching some YouTube videos I felt confident enough to install it myself, the hardest part was making room on my electrical panel to install the new breaker and after purchasing some single pole 20A breakers I had enough room to put the new breaker, the second most difficult part was actually drilling a hole through the wall, simply because the drill bit was not as long and the width of the wall.Let me add that you shouldn't cheap out on the disconnect box for the outside,I initially purchased the $10 one from Home Depot and the disconnect was bent and so I had to troubleshoot from the breaker all the way to the Unit sooo get the $30 one with fuses as a double measure. The unit was installed nat the end of summer 2018 and it cooled my 1200sqft 18ft ceiling main level effortlessly. Heating is not as efficient, specifically here in Atlanta when the temp drops below 40F, the air coming out is not as hot even in turbo mode. All that being said I had gotten mutiple quotes from different contractors and they were all comming in at $4800 plus for a 14 seer 2 ton unit. Total cost of the project was $1490 for the unit, $100 in electrical supplies and $7 for the lineset cover which is basically a square plastic gutter from Ace hardware.If you were having second thoughts...don't this will save you $$$$

(This is not a review for the Oasis hyper 230 volt listed above) I bought the Mr Cool DIY 12,000 BTU 500 sqft ductless mini split air conditioner with heater 115 Volt 20 amp Model DIY-12-HP-115A. I bought this last year to put in our master bedroom for my wife, she has a medical condition so during the summer time we keep the master bedroom between 64° to 66° and during the winter about 77° it has been very practical and was easy to install with the help of my son. I've had no issues with it yet, works great for cooling and heating the master bedroom only. It was the best buy for our needs would recommend whether for one room, or great for shop about 500 sqft. It gets cold enough for me to use an extra blanket during the summer time.

Very simple and strait forward. I am glad they had 25 feet of hose because I needed 24.5 from second story

Purchased this unit because it is DIY (only one on the market), the 110 VAC/20A feature, and superb 5/7 year warranty. Ran the hoses through a hot water heater space inside of 3" ABS. Will use 4" next time, was somewhat of a challenge to thread. This is my 3rd install, intend to purchase 4 more units. Central HVAC is a waste of money and very inefficient in a large expanded floor plan with moderade annual temperatures. I love this product..!

Background - I am very experienced with DIY I have remodeled tons of stuff around the house. - I installed this with my friend who has an HVAC license, but does mostly repair work. He had never installed a mini split. Install - Overall the install took me and one other person about 3 hours, but could easily have been done without the help. I also had already wired up the proper disconnect switch. - As others have said the directions are not very good. Some parts of the directions are well detailed, other parts had one sentence for something that really needed a whole page. - After install it is unclear what to do with the huge hole in your house. I ended up filling it with low expanding spray foam. Pros - This is a high quality mini-split. Despite the cons below the unit works very well and does an amazing job cooling & Heating. It also has a variable speed fan and many other high quality features. Cons - If you are buying this for the wifi look for another unit. Check the reviews for the app on google play or the apple app store. They are all well deserved 1 star reviews. I was able to get the app to work for about 20 minutes, and it has not worked since then. - This is a DIY unit, and by DIY they mean it. You will be traveling to home depot to buy extra components. You need to buy legs to mount the mini split on, as an example. The instructions claim 4 screws was enough to mount the inside unit, I added 6 to be safe, and ended up adding eight in total because the bracket was not secure enough. -I am not also fan of how this unit goes though the wall to the outside. If I installed one of these again I would do some research and come up with a better way. This almost dropped the review to 3 stars. Overall - I am not as happy with the DIY aspect of this install as I thought I would be. I wish it came with more of the necessary parts needed to install and the connection between the inside and outside was better. I would still recommend this unit, and frankly its the only unit of its kind out there.

The unit performs flawlessly. It was well worth cost. Although not an easy installation, I had only one glitch and it involved a plastic electrical snap-in-connection for connecting the wall unit power from the condensing unit. I installed the unit myself/alone except for a few minutes that I had my spouse help me lay out the line-set as I passed it through the installation wall hole. Diversitech speed channel or a similar line-set cover brand is necessary to cover and protect the line-set (for aesthetic purpose) and it is costly.

In December 2016, we bought a Mini-Split Mr Cool DIY 12,000 btu 110 volts at home Depot and after an easy installation by ourselves without technician, we are extremely satisfied because it has met all our expectations. It is a very efficient, very quiet unit that quickly and efficiently refreshes or heats our whole house (550 sq.ft. +). Congratulations and thank you to these two companies to meet the needs of their customers.

Bought this for the basement of the house and it cools it down great

I spend a lot of time in my garage and was heating it with a pellet stove and kerosene heaters and found that to be time consuming and expensive. I don't usually keep it heated when I am not using it so to heat the garage it takes time to get the pellet stove running and for the garage to heat up. So I bought the Mrcool 36000 diy mini split. I am a Electo- Mechanical Technician so the install was simple for me but this unit is heavy so I suggest help and to consult an electrician on your local codes. The install took about two and a half hours with help not encluding the electrical which I had done on the previous day and it could not be any simpler. The hardest part is hanging the airhandler thats where you need help pulling the tubing through plus i installed the condenser on a side mount bracket and needed help lifting it on. After the install I turned it on and could not believe how quite and hot the air was. I also tested the cooling and now will have the coolest garage in town. The ability to control this unit using the app on my android phone from anywhere is great. I can turn the unit on before I got into the garage and have it heated or cold and ready to go. I suggest this unit to anyone who needs to heat a garage or larger area. The only thing that could be improved on is that this unit requires a 35 amp circuit feeding it and the electrical terminals in the outside unit are to small for 8 awg wire so most do it yourselfers are not going to have the equipment to crimp on the one hole connectors required to make the connection so an electrician might be required to do the connection.

A well thought out design. The air handler that you mount on your wall has the return vent right on the top of it which makes it super efficient. It pulls the hot air from the ceiling and pushes cold air out underneath of it. I use it to cool down a 432 square foot living area and from the start up to comfortable cool takes five minutes. I can honestly say it's the best air conditioner I ever installed for myself. I'm 72 years old and I installed it myself, with the only help, was getting the line set through the wall.

I selected this unit because the warranty is valid for DIY - unlike most competition. Installation was straight forward. If you can tighten a bolt, then you can connect the condenser to the air handler - that simple. Packaging was VERY well done - no chance of shipping damage. Installed just in time to weather a week long heat wave. Unit worked flawlessly. Very happy.

we've had regular window units and we made the switch to Mr. Cool and it has already done spectacular in the IL humidity for us and cooled down the house so quickly. took a couple of people to do the install but we did it as a family ourselves and we are very excited about it.

Bought this to cool and dehumidify my garage. Great packaging...well protected and easy to unpack once it arrived. Just follow the instructions and you will be on your way to a comfortable space. Received the newest Enhance Smart Controller which provides the WiFi link to the air conditioner through the SmartHVAC app on my iPhone. The App is great and has worked flawlessly since I installed the mini-split. I like all the features except the history. I feel the ON duration should track the compressor run time, not the system On time. I find the system on time rather worthless in tracking how efficiently my schedules are working.

I installed this unit in my home in August, 2018. A/C works fantastic! Cools my entire home, with the aid of a box fan to circulate back the hallway to the bedrooms. Very efficient too! My electric bill was quite a bit lower than when I used our central air unit. (It was a 30 year old Carrier and it finally died..). I used the heat pump function as a back up for my wood stove. Works very well as long as the outside temp is 30 or above, which is normal for a heat pump. They are not built to handle frigid weather so the woodstove was necessary from December through February. Installation was simple but having a second person to help is pretty much necessary. This is the largest unit that DIY sells. Smaller units would probably not need a second set of hands. Overall, I am very happy with this unit!!!!

Bought this product and did a self-install, which was not too complicated. Provides adequate heat for an 840 square foot house. So far the unit works quite well. I have no complaints at all.

I have had this installed for about 6 months over the winter in New England. I am very satisfied with its ability to Heat with low outside temps down to 5 degree F. It is heating a 18x20 2 story shop 65 degrees without issues. Love it..
