Customer Reviews for Danby 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Heat, Dehumidifier, and Remote

We live in a 2 story townhouse with electric baseboard heat. There is an in wall air conditioner located on the upper level. It does not have the capacity to cool the whole house. During the hottest of our seasons, we run the upstairs conditioner, which lowers the temps being cooled by the portable Danby. The Danby does a remarkable job of cooling the rest of the house comfortably.

I bought two of these portable a/c and they really cool the entire home.

I bought this unit for my mom who lives with my wife and I. She takes care of our baby while we work. She lives in a "guest quarters" off the main house which is roughly 600 sq ft. It keeps that area pretty cool during the Texas summer. We played with the de-humidifier setting and that works great! Compared to other portable A/C units we've owned in the past this one is Super quiet. The only downside I say about this unit is that it's NOT energy efficient. I noticed my electric bill shot up once my mother started using this round the clock.

Did not know it needed a drain hose connetion, which I was not preparied for, but improvised and it works as advertised. I do wish I had known about needing a hose to drain both the heater and air.
