I have had MANY hummingbird feeders over the years. They always, ALWAYS attract wasps and ants. Having been stung one too many times trying to get the feeder to refill it, I hit the internet and came across this beauty! The clear, bottom part holds about 3-4 ounces of hummingbird food. Which in the peak season only lasts about a week in my area. But in the heat, you should be changing it regularly anyway. The beauty of this feeder is in the engineering! The little, feeding holes on the red lid are perfect for a hummingbirds long beak and tongue. BUT too small for wasps and bees to crawl into the feeder! And the arch of the top keeps the nectar too low/far away from their tiny bee heads for them to get! Bees can't get to the food, so they don't bother trying! YEAH! As another bonus, there is a tiny bowl where the hanging hook screws into. Make sure you fill this little bowl with water every time you fill the feeder! This way, when the ants come marching down the hook, they encounter a small ant sized lake they CANNOT get across to the same feeder holes the hummingbird use! Holy heck Batman! NO WASPS! NO BEES! NO ANTS! And the last bonus is actually for the hummingbirds themselves. There are little perches for them all around the feeder. Since they beat their wings so quickly and consume so much energy all day, its a nice treat for them to just sit still and drink their fill! Recommend this feeder to all your friends! Give it as gifts to those you know that love hummingbirds as much as you do! It's a 5-star hummingbird feeder winner all around!
