I have these on two different work benches that did not come with casters. They work GREEAT. I love the fact that the brake stops the swivel too.

I bought these to add to a workbench from HF. They work great! I installed four casters, one on each corner. I can lock any two and the bench does not move. I particularly like the fact that the lock not only stops the wheel from rolling but also stops the caster from rotating.

These casters are awesome, they perform better then I expected. They roll over any surface with ease, they swivel with no problems and no hang up like others I've used. The locking mechanism holds very well with no slippage. Easy to lock and unlock. I changed over to these about 6 months ago, and I'm glad I did. I couldn't be happier, and I would highly recommend giving them a try.

        Losing My Marbles
You know, when ball bearings fall out of the caster when it's brand new and you're just bolting it on, there's a problem.

I used these in an Industrial setting for a mobile scrap bin to collect scrap from a hydraulic punch press. Best bang for the buck Vs. what I had been looking at from McMaster-Carr.

            Ideal wheels
My workshop is outside. When it rains, stuff gets wet, 52 weeks per year. To deal with weather, I built a series of rolling boxes, cabinets, and platforms. This is the best caster I've used. * The polyurethane wheels do well on a deck, on concrete, bricks, and on dirt. * The locking system REALLY locks. * The caster frame has resisted rust for two winters and summers without any protection. * The wheel bearings and swivel bearings still work smoothly. But, after two years, the spring steel piece of the locking system is showing some rust. Still working fine. For my carts and boxes I've learned to use casters that swivel and lock on ALL FOUR CORNERS. As the boxes roll around there are always two brake pedals visible. They "weathervane" behind the box as it moves. No matter which direction the box is pushed there are ALWAYS two brakes available. This is much safer because there are always two brakes available to freeze the box's motion. The 4-inch and 5-inch versions merit the same positive comments. Great stuff.

More to say about casters than one would think
You would think to yourself. Casters! What is there to really say about simple wheels? Well there is quite a bit to say. I have put many different types and brands of casters on many different things and believe me they are not all created equal. Some swivel casters have horrible bearing that do not allow the the wheel to swivel freely. Some caster wheels do not grip smooth surfaces well and makes them slip across the surface instead of roll across. Some casters have bad break mechanisms that renders the break all but useless. These casters are not the nicest I have ever used but in the price range they are pretty great. I picked up 4 of these casters the other day because I needed some wheels to go on the miter saw station I had just built. These are perfect for this purpose because they have the polyurethane wheels that give them adequate grip on the smooth concrete in my garage and they are also soft enough to have adequate shock absorption when moving across rougher surfaces like the concrete in my drive way. The one thing thing that sold me on these casters was the fact that the break lever is on top of the wheel and sticks out the front. Which makes it easy to access when I need my miter saw bench to stay in one place while cutting. Originally I thought about using work bench casters which I would have had to order as they lift the bench up on to the wheels when moving is needed and you can disengage the wheels where the bench sits directly on the legs when stationary. Those type of casters work great for a work bench because work benches need to be perfectly level and those types of casters allow for the use leveling feet along with them. A miter saw bench just does not need to be perfectly level though and the wheel break keeps the bench stationary enough to make cuts on the saw. So these were the way to go and besides that I could pick them up right in the store instead of having to order them. All in all these are great casters for the price. well worth the money.

            Easy fix
Easy enough to put non swivel casters on the other end. Just shim the shorter caster to make it the same height. You are woodworkers right?

Locks wheel from both rolling and turning
Really nice wheels -- have an easy to apply lock which stops the wheel from both rolling and turning so that whatever it's attached to won't move when locked. I took off one star because HD does not carry matching wheels without rotation -- usually you'd put two of each kind on whatever you're building and that would save some money and also makes it' easier to push for long distances as it rolls straight that way.

            Surprisingly good
I didn't expect these casters to be total locking for the price - but they've surprised me. These will have very minimal use, so I felt ok getting them.

            Seems great
These casters are sturdy, easy to install, nice looking and most importantly, the brake works well. The only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is I can't yet attest to their longevity. Good for the price.

These are the best casters for the money and work extremely well. Excellent load capacity for the price too.

These Are Great Casters, But PLEASE Home Depot, PLEASE stock a fixed version.
As the other reviewers said, these truly are great casters. They roll easily but they lock down tight. I have a set of four on my lumber cart which, when loaded up at the beginning of a new project, can weigh more than 1000 pounds, substantially exceeding the load rating of these casters, yet they have held up just fine for more than a year. I am adding these to all of my shop carts and cabinets including my router table, table saw cart, planer, jointer, drill press stand and "shop desk". But I agree with the reviewers who are asking for a fixed version. While my lumber cart actually does need to have four swivel casters, my other carts and cabinets would be much easier to move around with just two. There is rarely a need for 4 swivel casters in most applications, and using two fixed and two swiveling casters makes it much easier to "steer" shop carts into place. I do hope that Home Depot pays attention to the fact that 4 out of seven reviewers here are requesting fixed casters in a matching height. Home Depot does have the market clout to make it happen and I think they would sell at least as well as these apparently do. (I visited HD multiple times this week and noted that they had more than 20 on the shelf on Thursday, but less than ten when I went back and bought four more today)

            Great casters - great price
I love these. Quality is excellent and in my searching price for comparable quality is much higher other places. Gradually trying to build a stockpile in case they go away. Locks are great. They firmly lock both the roll and the swivel and make the load almost as stable as if screwed or glued to the floor. I just put them on a large chop saw station and feel very confident with stability when locked and very pleased with mobility when unlocked. Locks are easy to work with your foot. I understand the reviews that wish for two fixed casters, but I personally like the way these drive with four swivels and the locks and driveability are so good, I really don't see a need for the fixed casters. Bottom line - I really like them and want a bunch of them - hope HD continues this item for a long time.

            Lock not strong enough
I need a locking caster strong enough to prevent my heavy workbench from moving when one side is lifted. These don't work for that purpose. Even with the locks, I still have to brace the bench to keep it from rolling.

HEY! HOME DEPOT - WHY DON'T YOU CARRY STATIONARY VERSION???
I Agree with SortaHappy's review. These are great locking casters since the swivel motion locks in addition to the wheels. BUT Home Depot does not sell a stationary version of this caster. For a rolling tool cabinet, you need to use 2 swivels and 2 non-swivel casters. None of the stationary swivels that HD carries matches the height of this caster. Closest one they have is 1/2 inch higher than this one!! Makes this caster worthless in the majority of applications!

              Great Casters
I bought a bunch of these from Home Depot to use for our video camera platforms / risers I built. I have a video business and we work on tight budgets and I simply will not pay the high prices of already built camera risers, beside that, the already built units out there don't meet our needs. We shoot a lot of events where we need our cameras above the crowd and / or straddle theater seating. I had originally designed our platforms to be stationary which sometimes was a pain because when you need to move them to position them perfectly they take 2 people to move. So I sought after wheels but needed some that would lock not only from rolling but swiveling too, these do that. These casters work perfect and hold a lot of weight and roll very smoothly and when locked, only slightly shift but so slightly it does not bother our operation, which requires a solid foundation. I also bought the larger versions to these for when the platforms are broke down they all tie together and we use the larger versions to move the entire unit and roll them right on our trailer with ease.

Good casters, but they don't carry fixed version, how to use?
Very nice casters and I love the brake (much better than typical models) BUT what is HD thinking when the stores carry only the swivel caster and no fixed version? Normal use is two fixed and two swivels, and only occasionally does one want four swivels. The other models they carry that included fixed versions do not have the same overall height. Means one has to shim some of the casters and they don't match.

                Best casters ever
These casters make my saws glide across my shop. One to click and they stop cold. After trying these on a platform for my table saw, I have decided to re-work all my others to include these casters.
