It was hard at first but I figured it out. The guard keeps the smoke inside perfectly.

This was relatively easy to install. Everything was included but a screwdriver. Some force is required. The down side to a larger smokeguard like this one is that I worry about knocking it out of place when I throw in a big log. I recommend using the smallest guard necessary. This will also maximize the amount of radiant heat you get out of your fire.

Can't believe it - this actually made a huge difference in my house. No more smoke coming into the room. Highly recommended if the opening to your fireplace is too large. Pretty easy to put together and install.

Once installed, this works very well, but installation is a massive pain: - The spring loaded mechanism is very fussy and cumbersome. - Once in place the center of the unit bends down under pressure so in order to ensure a tight seal at the top when applying the caulk, you need to prop it up with something (I used a 1" x 2" cut to length). Just be prepared to wrestle with this thing, but once in place and the caulk is dry, it holds its place and performs as advertised.

Because my fireplace opening was pretty tall, I got the 6” size, and it’s working great—no more smoke! Installation was fairly easy. There was one screw missing, but thankfully I had the right size already and didn’t have to go buy any. Ordered it online and actually received it early.

Received this item. No instructions. Not real happy about that. Time to Google to try to figure this out!

Assembling this was unreasonably difficult. The inside pieces were stuck in the outside piece. It took an hour to get them separated and then about the same time to get them to retract properly when installing in the fireplace. Should’ve been simple. Could be that this particular unit had been damaged. Hoping it’s safely installed.

This has cured the significant smoke spillage problem we had from our fireplace! It was easy to install, looks sleek, and, most importantly, gets the job done! Very happy with this purchase!

I ended up returning because I ordered the wrong thing. I needed the hood. Waiting for it to be in stock to order it.

It solved my problem of keeping our dog from getting the small stones from the fireplace!

This item was fairly easy to assemble and the instructions were written well. Pay attention and understand the instructions or there will be problems. The sealer was a little messy because our fireplace opening is not smooth ... it's natural rock not brick. There's no more smoke curling into the room now. The Smoke Guard works great. Highly suggest all or most fireplaces should have one.

Easy to install. Looks great. We had a very large opening & this brought it to a size where smoke now goes totally up the chimney.

This is a wonderfull product. I alot smoke in our house comming from the fire place. We decided that we will break dowm the fireplace until I decided to research and found this smoke guard. It works wonders, little to know smoke in the house. Now I burn the wood and warn the house.

This worked to keep the smoke from coming back into the room! A little tricky to install, but just follow the directions and it should work for you as well.

Spring included is not the easiest thing to use. The panel has fallen once, and after adjustment it seems to be holding, but for how long?

For $63, I was expecting a product that would be of a better quality than what arrived. Don't get me wrong, it does the job. The installation wasn't as easy as it's made out to be. The components consist of cheap tin that flexes too easy, basically a curtain rod to keep it tight to the walls and high temp silicone. The spring rod is strong but the design makes it a pain to try to compress.

This thing is magic. Installs in 15 minutes and solves the problem immediately. No smoke in the house whatsoever.

This works great in my gas fireplace. Without it, I could smell the gas because it was not getting properly drawn up the chimney. With the guard installed, I did a smoke test and all the smoke gets sucked right up the chimney.
