Bluetooth Pairing Doesn’t Work
These lights have huge potential to be best in class but the user interface and pairing process are holding them back. I’m a tech guy, have an entire connected home and am pretty experienced in setting up technology. I cannot get Halo lights to pair. I purchased 4 (2 with motion and 2 without). It took me almost 90 minutes and numerous calls to Halo to get the first 3 paired. I still have a motion light that I cannot get the sensor to pair. I’ve tried everything. Will be interesting to see how stable the Bluetooth and UI is over time, I’m expecting issues but hope to be surprised.

Garbage product. Tried to setup account through the app as instructed and had errors on the verification e mail. Sent email to halo no response. Took it back to home depot and bought a different brand. Returned the halo lights as well.

Difficult to install according to my electrician. Worked fine over the summer but first rains have destroyed the motion sensor. It’s full of water and dripping. I will try to see if HALO will offer a replacement as it is still under warranty. Don’t recommend.

The app to control the light is difficult to navigate but it can be done. The range of the controls does not allow the device to be controlled from inside my house which is what I really wanted. Better directions are needed for those of us that don't use electronics very often

It does dim the lights and turn them on/off without the use of the Halo app -- the basic functions of a $10 dimmer for $50 but it's required for these lights. The point of these more expensive lights was to change the color temp without pulling them out of the ceiling. The app is still required for that.

    Fatal flaw in motion sensor
Motion sensor initially show up in list and lots of controls are provided. But after saving settings the first time it disappears from the list of devices and you can’t get to it without a factory reset. A motion sensor that can’t be adjusted is useless for most applications. I see another review with the same complaint so I think it’s a design problem. What a waste of time.

      this product doesnt work
I have brand new wiring in the house. I tried 3 different switches, rebooted the system, rearranged the wires with the electrican who re-wired the entire house. It connects via the app, and then it puts a block in place so I cannot access the smart lights. Can’t change the can colors, can’t dim them through the app. The switch does nothing useful. I can pull that little button on the bottom right side out to turn the lighs off only when the outlet cover is off. The dimmer and rocker switch does nothing. How this product passed the test to be able to get put on the market is beyond me. I am probably going to be taking out all the halo bluetooth smart cans in the kitchen and returning them. Very disappointed in the abilitly for follow through from this company to deliver quality, successful, consitently working products. We just updated the router and modem too. Other brand switches work. Will give an updated review on the lights themselves for which dimmer switch if any works with them

I have mounted 2 units at the back of the house. The intensity is not as great as the halogen bulb units they replaced but the motion sensing is good. The lights detected a fox in the backyard - waiting to find out how well they react when the deer attempt to eat the hostas. Programming was reasonably simple - I have stored schedules for the different seasons and will enjoy the ease of switching schedules as the daylight hours decrease/increase.

SUMMARY: A MISTAKE FOR ME TO BUY THIS SWITCH. NOT RECOMMENDED IF YOU RUN A WIFI SMART HOME SYSTEM. BACKGROUND: I ordered this switch to compare it to other smart-home dimmers. I didn’t realize that is is only compatible with Google Home AFTER you spend another $40 - $50 for a Bluetooth to WiFi bridge. Also, this ONLY works with Halo Home light Bluetooth fixtures. SUMMARY: DON’T buy this unless you are installing Halo Home light Bluetooth fixtures AND you are willing to buy the bridge adapter required to pair your phone app to your smart home WiFi system. CONS: Not WiFi compatible without a separate bridge adapter. Only works with Halo Home light fixtures.

Steer Clear. [Note: a few days after writing this critical review on May13th, Eaton distributed an app update which resolved most of the flaws in the original fatally-flawed. Kudos.] This is a review of Eaton's MST20C18W HaloHome "Smart" Outdoor Security Motion Floodlight. Forget everything you've ever known about motion-activated floodlights. This product is poorly designed, poorly engineered. First, in my 50+ years of handyman work, I've probably installed well over 50 motion-activated outdoor lighting devices ... for personal, family, friends, and customers [residential and commercial]. In this particular case, I was replacing a conventional motion-activated light; it was surface-mounted box, under-eave. The installation was brutal ... two hours [including the machine time required to modify the adapter plate as mentioned in the instructions ... a conventional fixture takes me 10 minutes tops]. The instructions are not clear ... if you've never installed a motion-activated light, you don't want to start here. The electrical connector are third-world; not reusable; I cut them off and went to Wago connectors. Since the "brains" occupies 90% of the usable space, there's too little room to pack the wires into the space provided ... you'll tamp and tamp before you can get the fixture to seal onto the plate I thought that my two hour investment would eventually pay off once installation was complete. Wrong. [The following applies to the initial install. Two days later Eaton distributed a "fix" to the fatally-flawed app, resolving the issues described below.]. The interfacing was nothing like what's described in the pamphlet. [For example, there's no "Save" button on any of the screens; the app developer apparently prefers undecipherable iconography to text ... but the manual writer is apparently from another world.] At least, at the first 15 minutes, I got the phone to recognize the devices [the motion sensor and the light are two separate devices to the app]. But, after another very frustrating two hours, I could never get to any of the settings; to compound my misery, the phone would not ever again find the devices. You know, Eaton, all a user wants to do is emulate a motion-activated light [sensitivity, duration, etc.] ... but somehow you've managed to much that up. I swear it can't be done with the available app and the instructions provided. Yes, it is 'cool' to be able to change the brightness, color of the lights, and the sensor setting from a smartphone. Technology run amok. Pros: Stylish, Unique Cons: poor design.

Well, this is an item I regret getting. I thought that I could use it as a regular dimmer, and that may still work out, but I haven't had a chance to try it. I love HALO products and I currently have some track lighting in my basement that is getting a second life -and its over 30 years old! The blue tooth control of appliances is still rather new. One thing I've learned from technology is the long term does not favor the early adopter. This uses a proprietary system that only works with with HALO lights. I had an application that I could try this on a single light, but I read of a lot of problems with the phone app and decided I did not need the extra aggravation. The system lights seem reasonably priced, but I feel in the next few years a universal standard will rise out of the multitude of blue tooth controlled home devices. Maybe HALO will win out? In any case, I may still give it a go, but for right now it will sit on the bench waiting to be asked to the dance.

Right out of the box, this fixture was problematic. The wall box has it's mounting holes oriented horizontally, but the mounting plate won't accommodate that, so I had to mount the fixture at a 45 degree angle. That was weird. The ONLY way to control settings is by using the app - there are no accessible controls otherwise. I was able to control the brightness and color temperature for a time, until I tried to add the motion detector to the app. Then it crashed. When I restarted the app, it wouldn't find the device, so I had to factory reset it. Then I tried to control the light again, and the app crashed again. This went on for three days, until I just gave up. Now, I just have a light controlled by a switch.

This motion activated outdoor LED flood light provides a lot of area coverage and illumination. If is very convenient to have floodlights motion activated so they are only used when you have need of them. Having to flip a switch to turn on outside lights is an extra step. If you are so inclined, this floodlight can be bluetooth connected. These lights provide security and are bright being LED which use less electricity.

Bluetooth connectivity allows you to choose settings such as light brightness, temperature, and on/off times for each day of the week. The settings are all controlled from your phone app (search for Eaton Halo Home in the App Store), and then are saved locally on the light fixture itself. The downside of Bluetooth is that you can't control the fixture when not at home, but you can purchase their optional Internet Access Bridge if so desired. Motion sensor works best when mounted between 8 and 12 feet above the ground. Additional Halo devices can also be controlled with the same app.

You have to love technology! This motion light is one of the, if not the most versatile motion security lights on the market! Amazing what this light can do! Installation was simple if you have a standard 4" junction box to mount it to. The kit comes with a really nice back plate that mounts to the 4" junction box. The back plate is gasketed has a rubber grommet in the center to push the power wires through and is self grounded once mounted to the junction box. The motion light is also very easy to mount with quick connect leads for the ground, neutral and hot wires. I custom made some glare shields from white vinyl siding and affixed them to the lamps, as to minimize light spill into my neighbor's yards. Once installed and powered up it was ready to go. Bluetooth connection to the motion sensor is pretty straightforward and easy to navigate through. I'm still getting used to all the features, but wow, can this light do a lot. I hope other light manufacturers take note of this product. Being able to change the color temperature and being able to dim are priceless. Often these motion lights are too bright and the wrong color. Not here, problem solved. The color rendition, or CRI, of the light is fairly accurate too, which is a plus for me. The lights are plenty bright at 2030 lumen. The ability to control the motion sensor's photocell sensitivity is pretty cool and the ability to control the motion range is really cool too. I feel the motion range adjustment may need a little improvement however, as it does seem to miss a little in that feature with the range being about 45-ft. There are a ton of features embedded within the Halo Home App which is what is used to connect wireless to the device using Bluetooth technology. I totally love the ability to use just the light and disable the motion sensor. I'm not sure if I'll need to use scenes or schedules with this particular light, but the extension of this app with other lighting products that can work with this one is very promising. I'm sure Eaton Products will expand the usability of this light and app with future app firmware updates. Only two bones I have so far with this appears to be the range of the motion sensor and it's accuracy and the little blue LED light on the bottom of the sensor; its too bright. A little red LED would've done fine, the human eye often misses red light LED, the blue light sticks out and shines against the wall below it, so you know something is there. Now we'll just have to see if this light can stand the test of time and weather. What a cool product! Other manufacturers take note, this is the future of motion lights which can only be improved upon.

This is an Eaton HALO Series light dimmer that is intended only for use with HALO Home light fixtures. It is compatible with the HALO Home light fixtures which have a great variety of capabilities, including dimming and in some cases changing colors. You must download the Halo Home App to appreciate ll of the features, which unfortunately limits the application to not only the fixtures installed, but also the users internet knowledge and comfort level.

This SMART BLUETOOTH MOTION ACTIVATED OUTDOOR LED FLOOD LIGHT is nice. It is easy to mount and easy to attach to power with the included quick connections, already attached to the back of the light. The EATON HALO HOME APP takes some time to load onto your phone or tablet. Once connected, you have to be close to the light to program it. It is easy to set it up. The light can be set to whatever desired setting you want for brightness and time to stay on. I am very pleased with this motion activated flood light.

The white In-Wall Accessory Dimmer for use with HALO Home Lights is a good looking switch and it functions as you would expect for a wall dimmer. Installation was uneventful as a 2-way switch. And the instructions say the switch can be installed as a 3-way. As noted in the instructions - use this with HALO Home Bluetooth light fixtures. Once installed, download the Halo app. this was pretty standard too - and setup is pretty easy. Once complete, the system worked well. We don't have all the smart home components - this was just an experiment with one light and it went well. It is nice being able to control the light remotely.

This light is unbelievably nice in appearance, function, and ease of installation. It came with everything needed to install. If a new installation you will need to buy the appropriate mounting box that meets local codes. This light is heavier than other lights and is because of its strong construction. I live where we get wind storms and this light stands up to the high winds.

Works ONLY with a Smart Phone or equivalent. I got this motion activated LED flood light to replace a standard bulbed front porch light that had a LED light bulb in it. Not realizing that this light kit could not be manually configured, I installed it. It was very easy to install with all the necessary hardware included. I really liked the electrical wire connectors that only required pushing the house wire into already factory installed quick connectors, meaning no twist wire connectors are required. The installation instructions are adequate. This is a well manufactured product. Unfortunately it will not work with my "dumb" telephone.

I installed this as a replacement light on my detached garage. The old light was worn and had a yellowish color when on. After installing this light, I found how bright it is because it completely filled the driveway and my bedroom with brilliant light. This is where the adjustable brightness feature comes in and is real handy. I also like the whole Bluetooth tech part of the light. There is so much that can be done with the light instead of it going on and off with the motion detector. I intend to install another one of these on the back side of the house. It is nice to be able to customize the settings to taste.

This bronze coated exterior motion sensing light looks like a very durable product. All necessary mounting hardware after the electrical box is included as well as a convenient hook to hang the appliance while you are attaching the wiring; leaving both hands free to make wire connections. No wire nuts with this baby as the more modern insert the wire attachments are attached to the unit. Only one problem as I see it. This unit requires a "blue tooth" program to make fine tuning the unit possible. I have not installed the light due to this. From what I understand if you are technologically advanced you can fine tuen this unit from haly-way around the world. Sounds like a winner but I have not had the time to download the app. Foolish me did not realize what I had subscribed for with this item!

This is an excellent light fixture. It's bright, durable and can be customized in many ways. First, the install is easy, straightforward and anyone, regardless of their knowledge of home wiring, should be able to install this in a few minutes without any problem. Next, the fixture itself can be angled in almost any direction as can the motion sensor. This is a big plus as some outdoor lights have fixed heads so you get what you get. This however can be articulated in many different ways. The operation is very simple but this is where it may get complicated for some users. You make your color temperature, dimming, motion sensitivity and scheduling through the Halo brand app, on your smart phone or tablet. Once utilizing this app, you can customize the operation of this light in many more ways then a conventional light. Great fixture, good light and many more user-selected options than the normal off the shelf light.

The biggest problem with this device is the HALO app. It's terrible to use and you must be signed in and the app must be able to locate you. It has trouble doing this. After finally getting my account setup accomplished & linking to my overhead light, the app does not seem to be able to connect. It loses functionality with bluetooth and I am constantly trying to reconnect. I have a lot of bluetooth devices, and run my house with other types of remote connectivity so it seems HALO is the problem. NOTE: you CAN'T use this dimmer without HALO.
