We're sorry to hear that you had this issue. When installing into hard ground, we suggest loosening the soil with a small trowel to allow the spikes to insert easily into the ground.

Thank you for your review. When fully charged, these lights produce a decorative 5 lumen glow. If you require much brighter and longer lasting light, we would suggest low-voltage lighting. Low-voltage lighting offers much brighter and consistent light output since it uses electricity as opposed to rechargeable batteries. Please make sure that the lights are located in an area that receives full, direct sunlight for at least 8 hours per day. If you feel the lights are not operating properly, please call Hampton Bay customer service at 1-855-HD-HAMPTON (1-855-434-2678) and one of the team members will be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

So far so good. I replaced a set from last year with these. They were glass where these are plastic. Also, I really wanted a set that had the starburst pattern on the ground. Couldn't find that in the store or online. However, they are very nice.

Purchased 3 boxes of 10. Had just enought to complete my wifes project. They were very easy to put together and insert in the ground. The only problem you need direct sunlight to fully charge them in order for them to last throughout the night. Over all they work fine. I would recommend them.
