BEWARE of the Insinkerator Evolution Pro Excel!!!
I bought this model to replace a regular Insinkerator because I wanted a disposal that operated more quietly. This model did achieve that goal BUT it has so many nooks & crannies inside that catch bits and pieces of food that the sink begins to stink of rotten food every week…requiring a very thorough hand cleaning of the inside and the rubber gasket. Thank goodness my hand is small enough to fit inside to scrape out the rotten mess. I WOULD NEVER BUY THIS MODEL EVER AGAIN!!!

Hi, thanks for leaving your comments, and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. With our Evolution disposers, the focus is on the fineness of the grind rather than speed. With a finer grind, drain line blockages from food waste can be virtually eliminated. Since the disposer grinds food waste into smaller, finer particles, it may take longer to grind certain items than with other disposers. More and smaller windows on the grind shear ring allow the Evolution disposers to grind the food debris finer, which will help prevent future clogs and plumbing issues. Although it depends on the quantity and type of food waste, the average load takes 2–3 minutes to grind. Try running the disposer, along with a moderate flow of cold water, for a longer amount of time. Continue to run cold water for a few seconds after the grinding is complete. We also have a few tips here on how to clean your disposer: http://tinyurl.com/bdhkhtnc. Your business means a lot to us, so if you ever have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out via https://support.insinkerator.com/app/ask.
      Very Quiet Operation.
An excellent choice for our kitchen renovation. Disposal is very powerful and yet very quiet while operating.

New mounting method - not an improvement.
Just replaced my 30-year-old Insinkerator ISE333, which was still running perfectly. Wife said the internal parts were becoming too contaminated with built-up residue. I have installed dozens of disposals over the last few decades. The new "easy" mounting design isn't all that great. If fact, I found it more difficult. The lock ring needs to be depressed against the top of the disposal before it can rotate. But the rubber seal offers resistance. This means that in addition to having to lift the weight of the disposer up under the drain, you now also have to add additional upwards force to overcome the effect of the rubber seal. The older design only required you to hold the disposer up against the drain. Rotating the ring compressed the rubber seal as it locked. Frankly, I think I prefer the less elegant, older design. Lifting a heavy disposal under a sink is awkward in any case. And you can only lift with one arm, since you need the other to rotate the lock ring. This makes it worse.

Hi HandymanPhil, thanks for leaving your comments. Our new Lift & Latch disposers have a stationary ring with a small notch to make installation easier, and we're sorry this was not met. This small adjustment allows you to simply lift the disposer and make a slight turn to have the tabs latch over the ridges on the slide-up ramps, instead of continually turning until the tabs lock. If the disposer is already hanging in the sink, its weight will slightly pull its body down, and the tab on the lower ring will separate from the notch on the disposer. You may then begin twisting the disposer's body to line it with your plumbing (check out the installation video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELqo9wY7kbw). Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. Your insights are valuable, and we'll definitely take note of your concern. If you have other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us via https://support.insinkerator.com/app/ask.

                So quiet!
My last Insinkerator lasted nearly 12 years. I decided to go up a step in power, hoping not to go noisier. No worries! This one is so quiet, it does not interrupt TV watching. I am following the instructions and grinding a lot of stuff like potato peels, just in small batches.

The product is working well. It is a bit louder than I thought it would be, but overall is doing the job.

Home DIYer, Architect. I would recommend this product.
The instructions were easy to follow. Disassembly of the old, cleaning and installation of the new. Having the right tools for the job, flashlights, clear workjng space and an extra set of hands.

                      Super quite
I did not know a disposal could be this quite. You can talk to someone while its on, and it doesn't sound like someone summoning demons from your pipes. Grinds really well and seems to be great quality.

Excellent Garbage Disposal At A Reasonable Price
I've owned this model in the past. It does an excellent job at grinding the contents into small enough particles as to avoid clogging the drain pipes, which is a problem that I've had with other models.

                            What a great disposal
Replacing a badger after 10 years, I decided to move up in the series. The Evolution Excel series is whisper quiet! It’s easy to install and great so far!

                              Smooth & Quiet
Purchase this to replace a similar model that after 20-odd years gave up the ghost. Must say it's quieter and smoother grinding than it the old one. The outlet was in a slightly different position so had to re-plumb the feed to the drain. No big deal if you are familiar with cutting and gluing PVC pipe. Great unit, has been installed some three weeks now, very pleased with it.

                                very quiet
This model replaces 444, which is no longer made, and lasted over 15 years. I decided to replace an old Evolution Compact garbage disposer, which was working just fine, but felt a pro-active urge to replace as long as I was also replacing a white cast iron Kohler sink with a black cast iron Kohler sink. My only complaint is that the job required replacing a portion of the drain pipe because the new Evolution Compact is about an inch wider than the model it replaced. Much quieter and more efficient, yes, but it still required several hours more to install.

                                        Great features and quality
The quiet operation and reversing feature is why I bought this disposer. This is my second purchased for the house that we’ve been in for 22 years and only because I needed an additional on for our new kitchen. I reinstalled the one I bought 22 years ago in the new sink and it still runs well. Quality…

                                              Soooo quiet!
We replaced a 22 yr old Insinkerator disposal that had served us well, but had progressively gotten to the point where it sounded like it was chopping up glass and silverware. It had always been loud, I was used to avoiding using it after my husband went to sleep, even though he's upstairs and sleeps through almost anything. Then we got this one, and I am still shocked after several months at just how quiet it is! I had debated about going for the even quieter model but decided we weren't made of money and I had to compromise, but I am very pleased that we chose this one.

Absolute cream of the crop - Look no further
I was replacing my 7 year old 1/2 HP Insinkerator unit. It would get clogged every week and I wore out my plunger. I did 3 weeks of research. Spoke to every home remodeling guy and plumber. Price was not a concern. For all those who say "it's too loud" they simply have ZERO idea what they are talking about. This thing is the OPPOSITE of loud. It is FAR lass noisy than my 1/2 HP unit I replaced. Grinds everything - including peach pits and chicken bones. Buy this unit and be happy.

                                                  Replacement
Family uses the garbage extensively. When the previous InSinkErator all of a sudden locked tight I thought that something had jammed in the blade. I was unable to free what I thought was a jam with the garbage disposal wrench to no avail. Tried other means to loose i.e. old broom handle. steel rod from the top of the disposer with no success. Had a friend who is a handyman and has work on all makes of disposals to no success either. Since the disposal was still under warranty I contacted InSinkErator and provided them of the facts of what I and the handyman had done. After trying other steps from from the service center with no success InSinkErator sent me a replacement. Installation was fairly easy since all the sink attachment work with the new disposal. broke the old disposal and the shaft was rusted tight.
