Jealous Devil lump was a key part in my success in KCBS this !! Clean burning and long lasting with great flavor!!

We use this Lump Charcoal in competition, typically when you are cooking at temperatures 300 plus charcoal doesn’t last but not Jealous Devil we have had great success with no problems and adds a great flavor.

Been through a few bags of Jealous Devil XL Chunx and every bag is just as consistent as the next. Very large chunks average size of a fist, burns white hot and very little ashing. Lights up nicely and produces beautiful blue smoke.

I have used many brands of fuel and this is by far the best I have burned. It burns longer and hotter than other brands I have tried. Which in turn means less overall fuel consumption. What I really live is how cleanly and completely it burns. There is rarely more than pure white ash leftover at the bottom of the cooker.

After comparing Chunx to 3 other brands, they have been all I use. Burn hotter than others with no chemical smell. My wife used to complain about the smell on my clothes with other brands, but doesn’t say anything negative about smell or taste when I use Chunx, so that’s a huge win in my book!

The Lenoir City Home Depot was out of Royal Oak, and I was told it was seasonal. I smoke and grill all winter, so I don't understand that. I tried JEALOUS DEVIL 20 lbs. Lump Charcoal/Wood. I was not impressed with the product. The lumps are very large, and it takes a long time to light and get hot. I'll find Royal Oak and use it. KCBS Member

Never buying anything less. This is top notch fuel, low ash and burns forever.

Other lump charcoal spits and pops and is full of dust. Chunx is literally that - chunks of lump charcoal. Very little dust, no snap crackle pop. I’ve had my kettle up to 800 degrees with it and it’ll burn longer than you need it to.

Chunx gives me the longest and cleanest burn in my grills. If I’m doing a long smoke on the drum or a high heat burn on the Kamado, the Chunx are my choice for the job.

Grilling over Jealous Devil lump charcoal has been a game changer for me this summer! This hardwood charcoal lights easily and burns hotter and longer than the briquettes I used to use. I love that this charcoal is made from 100% natural wood with no fillers, chemicals or additives. It lights quickly with minimal smoke or odor. The chunks are nicely sized for good air flow and the bags are packed very densely, giving me more charcoal per bag. The natural wood flavor imparted to my grilled foods from this charcoal has been amazing. Steaks, chops, vegetables - everything gets a delicious smoky flavor that enhances the natural flavors instead of overpowering them. The high heat sears in juices and cooks my food perfectly even when grilling for a crowd. I haven't found a better quality or burning lump charcoal than this Jealous Devil brand. It's clear they use only the best hardwoods and have a top notch production process. The low moisture content means this charcoal burns steady and consistent. I'm hooked and will be buying this for all my grilling needs going forward. Highly recommended for the discerning barbecue master!

My favorite charcoal to use every time I’m cooking. Especially at BBQ competitions. I have consistent cooks. Charcoal performs perfectly. Burns hot and lasts longer then the competition charcoal.

The Jealous Devil large chunks are the best lump charcoal I have found. Can burn super hot for searing, or burns slow and consistent for long indirect smokes.

I like using lump charcoal for smoking, I personally think it gives better flavor than typical briquettes. In preperation for this weekends brisket, i needed to grab a new bag of lump, and this had pretty consistently good reviews. I have a gravity series smoker from Char-griller, and it can burn lump or briquettes, mixed with wood chunks. Previously i mix led all three, but on this smoke i went primarily with the lump witha few wood chunks mixed in. This stuff produced a nice smoke, consistent temps, and burned clean. The only issue that i identified was that because these are large lumps, larger than other brands ive used, sone of the largeest lumps didnt fall all the way down into the burn box. They still smoldered and produced good heat, but because it didnt fall down into place, the grill needed to run the fan longer to maintain the right temp setting. Not a huge deal, and easily remedied by pulling some lump coal out and mixing in some briquettes. They fall down easier without getting hung up, so it keeps the burn box filled while the lump continues to smolder and smoke until it finally breaks and falls into place. I keep a regular eye on my smoke as its going, so i identified this without any impact on my smoke, but if someone were the set and forget type, you could run the risk of inconsistent temps which could affect the overall smoke and meat temp. I still give it 5 stars because this isnt a major issue, and i know going forward to layer in my 3 fuel sources.

So happy Home Depot now has this charcoal. It’s the hottest cleanest burning charcoal I’ve used and lasts all day for me. No bad smoke or off flavors, it makes bbq taste like it should. Definitely ordering more for pickup at my local Home Depot!

Been using Jealous Devil for 3 years now. I’ll never go to anything less. Larger chunks burn longer, requiring less fuel per cook, the large chunks are reusable when snuffed out

I’ve used many fuels over the years and this one quickly took the top spot. Burns just as hot and clean as they claim. The price may scare newbies but it burns long so less fuel consumption. I won’t cook with any other brand.

Easily the most consistent and highest quality coal I have used in my 25+ years of grilling. No sparks popping in your face, burns long for smokes and hot for searing.

I am one of those people that have to see to believe and with so many different companies I had started with what was cheaper I thought. lump charcoal is not uniformed and it stays hot for longer time and I use less than I would be. saved money. long cook times to short, very easy to guess how much or little u need. practice and learn how it burns. not like no other that I have tried

JEALOUS DEVIL 20 lbs. Lump Charcoal - a Home Depot Seeds Program Review I use my grill almost every night. I’ve probably used my grill more than 350 days out of the last year. At least a few times a month I throw some wood chips on for a smoke flavor. Once a month or so I do a long, serious smoke on some nice meat. Suffice to say I use quite a bit of charcoal and I’m always ready to try a good lump charcoal. This Jealous Devil Lump Charcoal certainly looked like something good to try. The bag doesn’t state what kind of hardwood is used but it seems high quality wood was used. The charcoal burned evenly with very little smoke but not as hot as something like Mesquite. The smell was good and the bag states there are no fillers or chemicals which probably would have been noticable when burning. The taste and smell of the burning charcoal, even without a lot of smoke, is very good. The chunks of charcoal are not as large as some others I’ve used but they are a good size for a long cook and there weren’t a lot of small pieces which burn too fast for me. I haven’t made it to the bottom of the bag where these smaller pieces would likely settle but it looks good so far. I decided to cook a nice pork butt to make pulled pork. I loaded up the smoker’s basket to about ¾ with the Jealous Devil Lump Charcoal and a few nice chunks of Pecan smoking wood and started the pork butt smoking. I was expecting the smoke to take a while and was a little concerned that I might have to add more charcoal during the process. The smoke was 10 ½ hours and I never had to open the lid. When I finally took the pork off I saw that I had a little less that half of it burned and very little ash residue. I could have gone many hours more with that load I used. I was impressed with how long and well the Jealous Devil burned. This Jealous Devil Lump Charcoal is a good choice for long, slow cooks but still very useful for shorter daily cooks. The charcoal is made from a good hardwood and has a nice taste. There are no fillers or chemicals to spoil the taste of your food. The Jealous Devil has pretty large chunks and I would have no problem using it for even longer smokes like a brisket. It’s certainly worth a try if you like cooking with charcoal and doing long, serious smokes.

Yes, it is cookout time! And this product offers some big lumps of charcoal for some tasty grilling operations. The lumps are indeed quite big. Hardly any dust. Easy to light up with those chimney fire-starters, it just takes a couple of minutes to have it going. Very strong flames, very tasty food. This is the real deal, gas grill don't even come close in taste.

This is great charcoal. Huge chunks and very very little amount of damage during shipping. Hardly any tiny particles. Lights very easily. It doesn't seem to have a large amount of popping and sparks. Very neutral flavor. I am really happy with the quality of this product. Looking forward to using it again and again. Wish my local Home Depot carried it so I wouldn't have to order it.
