The twisted Pair Installation Kit was very easy to use. I made several data cables for our computers, printers and also for the modem which provides internet for our house. It works great.

This is a great package for doing Ethernet cables, and at a VERY discounted price when you consider all that you get, including a useful storage bag. My eyes are too bad to see anymore, so I sat my 15 year old down and he learned to do everything himself online and fixed every broken Ethernet cable in the house and at my work!

When we moved into our home, we had the builder include data and power in certain locations so we could wall mount a TV and not have any wires showing. Unfortunately the way they went about installing the data outlets was a head scratcher. Originally (see first picture) we had to connect a CAT 5e cable from the blue jack to the brown jack which was roughly 18" above the floor. Then we had to connect another CAT 5e cable from the brown jack that is up high so it could be plugged into the TV. I went to Home Depot and purchased the tool and a CAT 5e in-line coupling. Then I took the lower blue jack and brown jack out of the wall, used this tool to put an RJ45 on each of them then connected them with the in-line coupling. After that, I tucked them away behind the wall. Now the upper jack behind the TV was live and no wires are sticking out anywhere. This was my first time doing anything with data wire but watching YouTube videos and the instructions that comes with the tool made it very straight forward.

Over all good product. Wire stripper is super easy to use. Punch down tool is not the most sophisticated but is much less fatiguing then the cheap little plastic punch down tools that come with some jacks. Crimper is a high quality tool and does a good job. The 6 rj45 connectors that are thrown in are the cheap non pass through that are harder to use. I like that it includes a pouch to keep everything together. I would love to see this kit made in the USA. I personally think it could be, and for not much more then I paid for it.

Brilliant! Everything you need to get started running structured cabling with a pouch included to keep everything handy and clean. DIY folks, make three cables (6 cat5e ends are included) and these tools have already paid for themselves. Builders, remodelers and handy people, having this tool set with you makes running cables so much easier—smaller holes to drill in top plates, no chance of wrecking the cable end while pulling since it’s not terminated yet, etc. These tools are what you’d expect from Klein—sturdy, functional, and ready for anything you may throw at them. The punch down is static, so you’ll want to add an impact punch down if you’re doing a lot of connections. The radial stripper is almost perfect, and so simple to use. The bottom blade is a great feature—lengthwise stripping of the sheath, odd shaped sheaths, etc. I have audio cable twisted pair that are more flat than round, and this scores the sheath nicely. The crimper is great—4P, 6P and 8P, along with a cutter and a stripper with replaceable blades. I like the feel of the crimper, and it makes great crimps. The tool is consistent, always making sure connections. It will stay closed when you’re done, but that takes more tries than it’s worth for me, and the included zippered pouch is plenty big for the tool in its open position. All in all, this set is everything needed and is a must for a handyman and for DIY folks. And if you have dreams of a home lab, start with this and make your own custom cables!!!

Very complete kit to make 4, 6 and 8 twisted pair cable terminals and 110 connections. What's In The Kit: 1 - Crimper For, 4, 6 and 8 Pair Wires 1 - 110 Type Pushdown Tool 1 - Wire Stripper For Twisted Pair Wire 6 - 6 Pair Wire Terminals 1 - Good Instructions and Color Wiring Chart 1 - Zippered Pouch If you need to make any of the above terminals on twisted pair wires this is a great kit at a great price that makes the work quick and clean. The provided wire stripper makes clean and quick removal of the outer jacket possible without damaging any of the twisted pair wires underneath. The crimping tool also offers a stripper but it's not as handy and fast as the dedicated stripper. Once that's done it’s a quick process to crimp on the provided 6 pair terminal ends. Separate the wires and position them in the correct order then wiggle them into the terminal slots so they are seated and crimp. It's that easy and quick for the 4 and 8 pair wires as well. If you want to make custom wire lengths for clean and sanitary installs this is a must. It also makes wall penetrations much smaller since the wire can be pushed thru a small plastic thimble and then the terminal can be installed. And if cost is a concern bulk wire is the way to go. It's so much cheaper to do your installs and they look much better since you can make the exact length you need. This kit is intended for moderate use and should last the average user a lifetime. If you have never done this kind of work, don't be worried its very easy to master. I recommend that you test your wiring for the first few cable makeups to make sure you have everything connected right.

This is a great starter kit for ethernet installation. The cost of this kit is cheaper than the cost of some crimpers that are sold separately. The kit includes a multi-purpose crimper / cutter, a dedicated wire stripper, and a non-impact punch down tool. The wire stripper works really well, with a spring loaded blade for 'radial' cuts around the wire, and an external blade for slitting the wire jacket--a neat feature that I haven't seen before on an ethernet wire stripper. The crimper works great and is easy to use. The wire cutter on the crimper works surprisingly well, easily cutting ethernet wire, and also trimming the ends of the untwisted wires to even them up before inserting them into the connector. My old crimper doesn't have such a cutting / trimming blade, and it's a great feature. I am not sure why they bothered with the "full cycle ratchet mechanism" on the crimper. The ratchet does technically work, but it only has 4 clicks, and I can't imagine why it is necessary. With a moderate amount of pressure squeezing the crimper, the tool easily crimps the RJ-45 connector, quickly clicking past the ratchet stops, so I don't see the value of the ratchet for crimping. However, one small side benefit of the ratchet is that when you're done with the crimper, you can carefully close it until the ratchet clicks a few times, and use it to keep the crimper handles closed before you put the tool away. The one obvious weak part of this kit, which is likely how they keep the price down, is the non-impact punch down tool. I used a cheap non-impact punch down years ago, and it isn't a pleasant experience. If you only have to do a few punch downs, it will get you by in a pinch, but it simply is not a substitute for a decent spring loaded impact punch down. If you have to do more than a few keystone jacks or punch down blocks, the cost of a proper punch down is well worth the additional cost. The included Klein carrying case is a really nice bonus with this kit. It keeps the kit together, and you can throw in extra RJ-45 jacks, keystone jacks, scissors, and other small items into the pouch to keep everything together. This is a great starter kit for a very reasonable price.

This kit is everything you need to install RJ modular jacks on cable ends for voice and data. The best part is the kit comes with the 3 tools; cable stripper, punchdown tool, crimper. And everything stores in a zipper bag. There is room in the bag for extra modular plugs. I noticed the kit came with RJ45 CAT5E modular plugs. I use only CAT6 and CAT6A now, so I purchased a box of the CAT6 modular plugs. The kit should either exclude the plugs or use CAT6. The instructions and diagrams were marginal and had minor mistakes. Experiment with a few plugs and you will figure it out. The crimper has all the basics of a mid-priced crimper. It takes a bit of getting used to. It only has basic labeling on it, so you will need to refer to the diagrams until you get used to it. The stripper has no adjustments. I was using it on heavy-duty CAT6 cabling and it had trouble cutting the jacket. You may need to spin the stripper several turns to get the cut you need. The punchdown tool is not an impact tool, so you might have to use more force to punchdown the connections. Or set the jack on a hard surface and use the tool. Impact punchdowns set the cable better in keystone jacks. Overall, this is not the quality I expect from Klein Tools. This is a good kit for the home handyperson that needs to terminate a few cables once a year. But if you plan to do any serious cable terminations, buy the individual pro tools separately, and build your own kit. I was not able to find a good kit as a substitute.

This quality tool from Klein Tools has a very specialized use and no other type of tool you may have in your tool box will suffice. This tool is used to install those little plastic modular plugs onto cable like you would use on a landline telephone or a LAN cable for your computer. This kit comes with a crimper/stripper, a twisted pair radial stripper (the crimper stripper has a built-in one too) and a punchdown tool used for inserting twisted-pair cable wires into modular jacks. My issue was I had a closed circuit TV camera cable with a broken tab and the cable wouldn't stay plugged in. I could replace the entire 100' cable but it is fished through walls and in a crawl space, so replacing the plug was the better alternative. You might want to get a few extra modular plugs and practice a bit as getting 8 wires lined up and slid into the plug takes some practice. Also, it is important to make sure you are following the correct color scheme so your connection works. After a little practice, I got the wires installed in the correct order, crimped them into the plug and now my CCTV camera system is secure. NOTE: You can find many videos on the internet that will familiarize you with this procedure.

Klein is my go to brand for all my tools except mechanical (sockets/wrenches/etc.) They have been making the best screw drivers and pliers for as long as I can remember and they do so from the United States. However, this kit is not made in the US. While the durability seems to be high, the plastic is dense and tough, I still want to see Klein as a “Made in the USA” tool company. The kit is nice. It includes everything you need for splicing CAT5/6, RJ66 cables, and a really tough punch down tool. But, it seems to be the same thing you can get from a generic tool company. What made Klein different is the American made aspect of manufacture. I will say the nylon bag is still made in the US was surprisingly my favorite part of this kit.

twisted pair installation kit. for those that do not understand what that is. it is a kit to allow you to make your own CAT-5 type connections. you can also use the crimper for smaller phone type connections. the kit comes with very easy to understand instructions. this is a very simple kit to use. the included storage bag is a nice bonus to keep track of things. i used this to make my own custom length cable to connect router to a device.

Can't believe it finally a great twisted pair installation kit, way better than my old one I have been using for years had to carry two sets one for Rj11 and another for Rj45 and was doing most things by hand, but this kit makes all a lot eaiser with the separate stripper tool, so not using my electrical strippers for most can use one designed for the job, then the punchdown tool that was I was doing most times with a knife or screw driver, then the crimper has all the other stuff you need, RJ 11/12 & 458 cripping space, has stripper for bot flat and round cable and a RJ22 crimp nest. So now all in one tool with two other tools that make for complete set and with the storage pouch for the whole set rather than loose in my tool pouch

Works as intended, nothing to bulky on the tool that limits operability. Nice, satisfying *click* from a crimp and it's a Klein so it's a solid product.
