Customer Reviews for Kwikset 910 Signature Series Single Cylinder Traditional Venetian Bronze Deadbolt with Home Connect Technology

I got this Kwikset Home Connect (i.e. Z-wave) deadbolt as an upgrade to a Kwikset deadbolt already installed. As a result, it was a breeze to install, and the mechanical part took less than 10 minutes. Hooking it up to my Z-wave control hub and pairing the devices was another matter, but not because of problems with the lock. In fact, the lock is well designed to make access to the electronics after installation very easy. Simply remove one small screw on each side of the lock and the cover slips off (see photos). Paring the device to the hub is a simple matter of pressing a button inside the lock. After that, the lock can be operated manually or via the Z-wave controller. There's a few seconds of noise while the motor drives the deadbolt, but it's not overly loud. This lock includes Kwikset's “SmartKey” system, so re-keying the cylinder to match my existing keys was simple. All in all, the process of installation and operation was straight-forward, the only challenges being associated with my hub and not the lock. The deadbolt set is well priced for Z-wave locks and the lock looks great.

Assembling this remote controlled deadbolt to a door is very much like installing any other deadbolt and it's very easy if you are replacing an existing one like I did. The look of the large interior locking mechanism takes a little getting used to; it would be more aesthetically pleasing if they could make it more compact. I paired mine to a Wink Hub which was very simple - just follow the screen prompts of the Wink app on your phone. Operating the lock with the app takes just a swipe, then in a second or two, it responds with a whir of its motor. You can also operate the lock like any other with a key outside or using the interior turn latch. This lock is a great solution to providing remote access to our home wherever we may be.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this lock. We purchased 6 for our new home. Since the guest house is separate, I wanted the guests to not require a key. So this feature works great however, when I attempt to remotely lock the doors, the alignment of the bolt and striker need to be almost perfect. I would have designed the bolt with a taper to allow for easier alignment. Three of the (6) need regularly adjusted. I'm certain I'll get it eventually but it's a pain.

The Kwikset 910 was very easy to install and sync to alarm system via the home connect technology. I would recommend this product to others.

The printed directions included in the box are not that great when it comes to programming the lock. After you have added the device to your alarm system (the quick & easy part), you have to “train the lock” as it is called in the printed directions. Best recommendation is to go to Kwikset’s website and watch installation video instead of using printed directions-makes it quick & simple. Main reason it gets a 2 star is because the Ring App does not have a button on the App’s home screen to press to unlock. To unlock it from the Ring App, here is what you have to do to get to a screen where you can FINALLY unlock it (4 screens later in the App): Go into the Ring App, select “Devices”, then select “Alarm Base Station”, then scroll thru looking for the lock’s name and click on it, then you can FINALLY click on “locked” to UNLOCK IT.) Why didn’t Ring think of a lock/unlock button on the Ring App home page??? Ring has buttons on its App’s home screen for video cameras as well as to turn on/off the alarm: this is not a foreign concept to Ring. You will certainly not use this to replace using a key to unlock your door. It is way quicker and easier to just use your key. Should be a one click process. It does lock/unlock the door....eventually. If Ring is listening, hopefully they will fix their app. If Ring did this tweak to their App, I would give the lock a 5 star overall rating!

It’s easy to assemble... but You have to have the smart technology to have this work. Fortunately I was simply replacing the cylinder of the deadbolt and am still using the old fashion unlock it with a key and the interior knob... why does everything have to be smart...?

Works well with the Wink hub. Google Assistant and Alexa will lock the door with voice commands but they will not unlock it for to security reasons. Wink allows for shortcuts to unlock the door on your phone so it is still very convenient.

As much as I like Kwikset, was not happy with this item. I purchased two of these locks for my back doors. Both locks were EXACTLY alike and BOTH had a problem. I am currently awaiting replacement parts for these locks, but Kwikset doesn't seem to be in any hurry. I would stay away from them in the future.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Well Kwikset is really the old standby in hardware. These deadbolts are a good value. I have been in the construction industry for 40 years and I have certainly bought and specified more expensive deadbolts but these work so what id the point? I was a spec write for an architecture firm for 7 years during this 40 years and specified some of the most expensive locks made but I always wondered how much better they really were. My philosophy now is that if I can get 10 -15 years out of an affordable lockset, there is no reason to pay more. By the time they wear out, technology and fashin will have changed anyway. So rock on Kwikset :)

I got this to replace my old ugly lock on my front door which was needing to be replaced for a long time. I love how this looks and it was super easy to install with the included instructions. There were so many different ones I had looked at and am very happy I went with this. I love the bronze look as well. I really like the keyless entry and have always wanted one with that feature. This also comes with 2 keys so you can choose to use the keys or go keyless. I highly recommend this as I think this makes me feel a lot more secure in my home then the old lock this replaced and this looks great too! Even better is the technology with this lets you lock or unlock your door from anywhere which is awesome if your like me and wonder sometimes if you may have left the door unlocked. Great design!
