Brass fittings does NOT mean brass or metal screws and nuts!
The toilet seat is fine. I always order one with "brass fittings" because anything else does not wear well and the seat always starts to shift. But disappointed to realize that came with plastic screws and nuts to fix to bowl. They do not wear well and contribute to shifting. In addition, plastic nuts are VERY hard to tighten and keep tightened. Now must shop for brass screws and bolt separately. I find "brass fittings" designation very deceiving when I get plastic scree and nuts!

Wood began to break down, split and bubble within a few weeks of installation. Had to be replaced.

Mayfair Elongated Wood Toilet Seat
Cracked within the first two weeks. Very poor construction and materials. I would not recommend this product.

For some reason the screws keep loosening on it. I had a friend of mine install it, and he installs a lot of toilet seats. When he came back a second time - he took them off and looked at them. He said they are NOT stripped -so is confused as to why they keep loosening. OTHER than that - the seat seems fine.

This seat replaced a similar one. However we liked the chrome screw fasteners on the old one much better since this one has flimsy plastic ones that do not keep the seat firmly attached. And the finish on these is dull whereas the old ones were glossy. And of course these were almost double the price of those we purchased 5 years ago!
