I have been using this machine for years and it is a beast. It does not have soft start and honestly I would not want it, that is just another complexity that creates problems. I only use D-handle routers because it does not matter how much starting torque there is when you are holding the D-handle. When you use a router a lot soft start is not an issue, and soft start is just time wasted when you are actually using it a lot. I was amazed the router was able to mortise these treads.

Seems absent minded to not have a soft start or variable speed to what is otherwise a good machine. Why?

This is a powerhouse first time i use it and wow just buzzed thru a softwood but never even forced just kept on going looking forward to creating with this tool i am happy

Just what I was looking for, I use it primarily on my router table.

Works well at all angles. Quick bit changeover is a plus.

I have always wanted a "D" handle router. I hadn't seen one in years until I discovered this one and ordered it. It is Awesome!!! It will accept both 1/4" shank bits as well as 1/2" shank bits which makes this router very versatile. It has plenty of power to handle a variety of routing projects both for professionals and the do it yourself people. This router has good weight but is not so heavy that you will not enjoy using it. And as always Milwaukee is the best tool for the money!!

I was a Porter Cable router guy for years. I bought PC routers for a work production setting and personal use for years. I needed a new router for personal use and started researching. Decided I would try this Milwaukee and am very happy I did. The micro depth adjustment is a wonderful feature. It's much more precise and easier to adjust than the PC routers. Power seems on par with what I'm used to from the PC routers. Overall a very nice tool.

Was't sure about the handle but having multiple other Milwaukee products, surprisingly quickly adapted from the conventional knobs. Runs very smooth and easy to manipulate.

I have two conventional routers one a 3 HP Makita the other a 1.5HP Riobi (Junk). While working on cabinet doors with a cabinet professional who had a D-handle I learned about the CONTROL the handle provides and the view of the work the D handle provides while the router performs it's job. It was all it took to convince me I had to have one. The 1-3/4 Max HP D-Handle Router by Milwaukee is a great tool at a reasonable price.

I have used other D-Handle routers but I consider the Milwaukee the best. It is easy to control, the adjustments are easy to use, and the weight is perfect for a production tool. The only improvement I can recommend is soft start. Otherwise it is great!
