I bought this carbide tipped hole saw to replace a standard hole saw without carbide tips. Went through 1/2" poplar a lot easier and with a cleaner cut. Did jerk a little going through the wood but better than the standard hole saw. Took a little time to remove the plug but not bad. Carbide tips are hard to see. Make sure that you clamp in the wood piece

Great holesaw, the arber I use is a Milwaukee Model # 49-56-7240 7/16 hex shank.
This is a carbide tipped hole saw, they are very small and attached not like carbide on a saw blade where the carbide provide the blade set. the carbide on this holesaw are attached at an angle and form the point of each tooth and are ground flush / smooth with the blade sides then painted . I use it for valve cutouts in fiberglass composit shower and tub kits.

I didn't return it because I needed to cut some holes, so I just burned through it..

4 in. Carbide Tipped Hole Saw
Contrary to one reviewer's statement that this hole saw was not actually carbide tipped, it IS carbide tipped. You can even see them in the picture. They are tiny, and the paint tends to cover them up, but they are!

Great for wood
This but works like a champ in wood. In cement board siding it works great a few times and then gets dull. If most of your work is going to be in wood this bit is great, but if you will be boring holes through all different kinds of siding like I do daily you may want to go with a more expensive bit.

Product performed as intended
Hole saw cut what I needed it for. Don't see where this bit is carbide tipped. Every saw blade I every had that was carbide tipped had very obvious carbide tips on the cutting edge of each saw tooth. This hole saw doesn't have any.

Don't waste money on bi-metal
After annihilating a bi-metal 4" hole saw and remembering how well my 1" carbide held up in STEEL! I went to the carbide. I'll be ordering a 3" as well. Should stock in store too. Lowe's doesn't.
