Compact but Powerful Enough for Lugnuts
I'm just the occasional DIYer that does various automotive and household tasks. This 3/8 drive stubby is perfect for hard to reach jobs such as removing caliper bracket bolts and suspension components. I like that it fits perfectly in my 3 drawer packout toolbox as well. Although not as mighty as a full-blown 1/2 inch impact wrench, this thing has managed to successfully remove lug nuts on my ram 1500, my travel trailer, and my dump trailer.

Nice, compact and professional drill/driver set
I am just a simple DIY person who bought this item at Home Depot recently for assembling a vegetable garden/shed. I can say with out much ado, compared to my old Ryobi 12v drill, this unit is top notch inside out. Its finish, power, light weight and compact size makes it very easy to get into tight corners. The hammer drill is awesome and was able to drive 6"screws into the 2x8 planks effortlessly. The lithium batteries last a long time as well. One couldnt go wrong with this set. Overall, I am very pleased with Milwaukee's M12 Fuel lineup and hope to add other handheld battery powered gear to my collection in the future.

Bought this to take off lug nuts and make working on cars easier. I was a bit skeptical if it was strong enough, but after several jobs, this tool worked amazing. Took off lug nuts like a champ.

The strength of the drill and impact driver is impressive. The two batteries charge fairly quickly. The battery removal requires a strong squeeze grip of the hand.

Love this tool very very versatile
FYI I purchased this tool in June 20 this review is done in September 20. I was skeptical like everyone else is before they purchase 12-volt tools. I myself own numerous 18v tools. I have become accustomed to there power and torque. I have a friend who spoke highly of 12-volt power and versatility. I understand that the 18 volt and 12 volt systems are apples and oranges in terms of what you can throw at it. I was very very impressed with this tool. I will give you all a very good and very cost-effective way to utilize this tool in two ways being an impact wrench obviously and as well an impact driver. I just picked up a 3/8 in square x 1/4 hex shockwave impact adapter. I use this professionally as a contractor so weight is always a factor. Hey, guys get rid of some weight from the toolbox leave the impact driver at home. If you get this imp. wr. and purchase the adapter your savings alone there is a few hundred dollars. I love Milwaukee tools because everything they make is always multifunctional. I hope this helped.

This kit is great for pro or diy use, representing a good value for both. The M12 lineup have compact designs that fit in tight areas but still have modern settings you would expect on higher end drills and drivers. Having the bag is convenient to throw a bunch of tools in and go. I am happy with this purchase and can't think of a better starting set of 12V tools.

The Hammer Drill and the impact driver didn’t function the way it should. One of them the reverse didn’t work and the other was not strong enough to pull out the work that it was meant to do. I had to take them back to the store two days after I purchased getting a new set back in exchange having the exact same results after using them. This product didn’t not meet my expectations and I was really exited when I bought it for an amazing price but it was not worth it.

          Pretty cool
Alright I have used 18v drills most of my time, but about 2 years ago I bought the Milwaukee m12 screw driver and loved it! I’m a maintenance guy so taking apart things is my job. I do some carpentry. So I was in the market for a new hammer drill and saw the impact came with it in the combo. I like the m12 line because of size, I carry my tools everywhere. So smaller the better for me. The impact is crazy cool! It runs better than my 18v! It has three settings, which I like and I have tried all three but most of the time I leave it on three. It has a sheet metal screw setting which is different. I tried it and it works just different to get used to. The hammer drill seems nice also, I have installed a couple things already with it and I like it. If I was a full-time carpenter, I’m not sure if this set is for you (not because of power, because of battery size). Don’t get me wrong the batteries go a long while. But the size and weight on this set is what had me sold. I’m hoping this set will last me 5 or 6 years. So here is the bottom line ( my opinion). Are you looking for a drill compact? Light weight? Power like a 18v (if not more)? This drill is for you. The m12 line is pretty good, I have the 3/8 impact (older) and it will take bolts out for sure. It came with a free 6.0 battery, so it made the deal sweeter. I also like the carrying bag, which isn’t a cheap one. So I’m just your average Maintenance guy who doesn’t run his drill all day but when I need it I need to know it’s gonna do the job. I’m thinking about buying the hackzall next, just can’t make up my mind. Have a good day!

            Great IN ADDITION to M18s
Alright folks. First off I must say I'm very impressed with the power, size, weight, and battery life. I started dabbling in the M12 line a while back and now have a pretty solid collection of them. I run a landscaping/construction business, and am also renovating my house. So my tools see a pretty wide array of applications. The impact works great. It's comparable to it's big brother in most applications. However, when used on applications other than soft wood, break out the 18. The drill is good. It's size and ergonomics are great, but it's a little slower than it's big brother. It gets sloppy with bits over 3/8 , and I do not reach for it to drill holes in anything other than wood, vinyl, or THIN metal. I love the M12 line BUT their are a few rules I have come up with. 1. Don't buy anything other than fuel. With the M18s you can get away with cheaping out on some tools, but the brushed M12s are seriously lacking. 2. If you're a homeowner Joe these tools will do all you want and more. But if you're a contractor, remember, these will not replace your 18 volt tools. On 90% of applications, they work awesome. They're smaller, lighter, and cheaper which is great. There are times, however, that you need to have access to the big boys to finish the job. Hope this helps!

Alright, so I'm a Milwaukee guy. I have a full array of M18 impacts (in addition other tools and most of their battery sizes), but recently started dabbling in the M12 line of tools with the purchase of an electric ratchet. So, needless to say I was intrigued by such a small impact putting up torque comparable to most of my M18s. (Not anywhere close to the 1400 ft lbs of a 1/2", but that's not what I got this for). This thing will fit anywhere, so it's super versatile. I had to adjust the cutting edge on my snow pusher which I had tightened with a 1/2 " M18, so I figured I'd put this to the test. It did the job without a sweat and in a timely fashion. I did, however, use 3/4 of a charge in doing so. (Although larger batteries would help, I don't get the impression of great battery life from this tool, and that's okay). So all and all a great little impact that will fit anywhere, and work on MOST applications (I have reservations about ceased bolts)

Really compact. Got this set along with the 3/8” Ratchet (12v Fuel). Worked great for installing accessories for my truck. Batteries last a long time. Love my 18v 1/2 impact so looked no further than Milwaukee. Seen so many mechanics using the 12v, I knew it had to be more than a gimmick. Definitely worth the price.

This is one impressive set of tools. I mainly picked this up to supplement my 18v line of tools when I didn't want or need to drag out my big toolbox. That being said, both the impact and hammer drill have to power to handle most tasks and will probably become my go to for most drilling and driving tasks. It came as a big surprise because as small as they are, they almost look like toys. Can they keep up with current generation, upper end 18v tools, no. Will they keep up with and even outperform older generation and lower end 18v tools, absolutely! After I picked this up, I did a little comparison testing between this impact and my older Ridgid X4 impact (purchased in 2012 and admittedly beat to death) driving 3 inch construction screws and 1/4 x 3 inch lags into a pressure treated 4x4. The milwaukee 12v drove both types of fasteners almost twice as fast. I'm curious to put it against my Ridgid Octane impact which is currently in for service. I will post an update when that happens. After far as the hammer drill, I drilled a few pilot holes for 1/4 x 2 3/4 inch tapcons with both this hammer drill as well as my Ridgid Octane hammer drill. While the Milwaukee 12v couldn't match the speed of the Ridgid Octane (Imo the octane borders on the capabilities of a rotary hammer for drilling smaller holes), it held its own, completing the task in a more than reasonable time frame. If you are looking for the smallest drill/impact out there with little compromise to speed or power, this is the kit to buy. As a nice little extra, the provided toolbag has enough room to squeeze in the M12 Fuel circular saw along with everything in this kit and a couple of extra batteries for a nice little all around compact carry package.

This hard to do, as the overall product is good, but the battery issue is really bad. The battery holds a charge fine, but what happens is the battery will fall off or come loose because the battery clip break really easy. You will have to use one hand to hold the battery with one had and the tool with the other to make it work. I would not recommend M12 products until they change the connection of the battery is fixed. I am almost at the point of taking my tools and selling them to the local Dewalt service center and buying Dewalt tools. What makes this even worse is that Milwaukee knows about the issue for a long time and still hasn't fixed the issue.

The Milwaukee M12 3/8 stubby impact looks, handles and feels awesome but it lacks power. I would have kept it if it had more cojones. In real life usage my ugly 18V Makita impact driver with socket adapter is only about 10% bigger but it was busting off nuts this sexy Milwaukee couldn't budge. If they make a stubby 3/8 in M18 format I'd be all about it, but this one's going back.

I have been waiting to dive in to this platform of tools, but noticed that not all bundles are the same. I love this bundle because both tools are Generation 2 and it also comes with the 4.0 xc battery. Just buy picking up the tool you can tell they are top quality. Then you use them and the power, feel, and performance reinforces the fact the Quality is everything to Milwaukee. Now I start collecting other tools in this platform. Next purchase is probably going to be a cordless ratchet for when I am playing the part of a Backyard Mechanic.
