Very clean modern look.
This deck railing system was very easy to work with and assemble. All of the aluminum pieces were protected with a clear film to prevent any marring or scratching during installation. The glass panels were packaged extremely well. We used both the 6" and 66" glass panels. The 6" came with a different style insert system which was slick as can be. The 66" panels push up into a top hard plastic gasket then into the bottom one which was a bit trickier to achieve but once we got the first one in and figured it out, the others went very well. We are project driven grandparents of 7 and installed 8 - 66" and 5 - 6" sections in one day. We have received many compliments on the final look.

Great Product
I highly recommend the Peak Railing system. We purchased the Peak Aluminum Railing System with the 66" glass panels for install on our completed deck. The aluminum posts and rails are very sturdy and have an excellent fit and finish. The tempered glass panels look great and are relatively easy to install in the frames. I recommend that you purchase some glass installing suction cup devices in order to safely handle and install the glass sections. We found them to be extremely helpful when installing the larger glass panels. Of particular note, the Peak Sales Representative, Darin Asbjornsen, provided excellent customer service. He reviewed our deck plan and took the time to provide a detailed drawing along with a complete parts list, which allowed us to walk into Home Depot and purchase everything we needed without having to worry that we might forget or miss a particular piece. We just installed the product this past weekend and it looks great!

Study and looks great but a nightmare to install!!!!!
I just finished putting this in and the results look great however installation was a nightmare. First off I've done lots of home repair and I would rate my knowledge and skill high above average. I choose this because it's aluminum and I feel the plastic ones feel cheap. It's extremely sturdy and the finish is great however stain installation was very challenging. I only installed a stair railing off my patio door back steps since we are having a party and i don't want someone to go over and get injured. The brackets mount easily however i don't like that the screws for the brackets are not self tapping and the screws for the bottom and top rail are self tapping. I predrilled the holes and the instructions said and had a hard time getting them in. The system to put in the pickets is horrible...besides being very difficult to mount the upper rail bracket, the pickets fit in so tightly that it's easy to knock them out and everything will instantly fall apart and get scratched...this happened to me multiple times. If you had two people it would be easier but just the picket system is subpar. I saw a competitors product(much more expensive) that all the pickets were mounted and you held the railing up to cut at the proper length and angles(i would go with that system next time. The pickets swung and of course it was more complicated but I really had such a horrible time with these that I wouldn't do it again. Also when installing it you need to leave a lot of screws loose to slide pieces in and out...well when you do that inevitably you will knock everything apart multiple times. I suggest watching the manufacturers installation video online...if you watch the stairs video the guy seems to be struggling because he is. I watched the video multiple times before I started just to get a good grip on the project and thought it was amateurish and unprofessional...it's not the guy does a good just it's just with all the loos screws, and pickets it's a heck of a challenge to do with one person. Needs to have matching touch up paint next to them since you will scratch them up and scratch the screw heads up during installation. I ended up using white appliance touch up paint. But a metal blade for your compound miter saw. I ended up using my bandsaw with a metal blade and doing it by hand with a hacksaw would be horrible, especially if you are installing multiple runs.

Hello, and thank you for your review of the Peak Aluminum Railing system. As an experienced home renovator, we value your comments and we hope that other potential customers will find them useful, and our responses helpful. First, we would really like to thank you for choosing Peak products and Home Depot. We realize there are many guard rail options available in the market, and we really appreciate your business. We are sorry to hear that the stair railing installation was challenging and that this might have tainted an otherwise good experience with our system. The installation of the stair railing is the more complex portion of our railing installation. Having an extra set of hands definitely makes the stair railing installation process easier. Peak is currently developing a new set of installation videos, and these videos will provide more comprehensive instructions, especially for stair installations. The new videos will be posted on our website as soon as they are available. The Peak Aluminum Railing system was designed for maximum flexibility when it comes to customization and fitting railing to any existing or new deck, regardless of size or shape. All of the components were designed to fit together very securely to give total peace of mind that your family and loved ones are protected. This might mean in certain cases, such as the universal brackets, the screws are a very tight fit even after drilling out pilot holes for the self-tapping screws provided. In terms of the stair railing specifically, getting everything perfectly plumb and centered does mean there will be some assembly and disassembly of the components. We also agree with your recommendation to use a miter saw with a good sharp non-ferrous cutting blade for any cuts that need to be made. This will ensure accurate, straight and precise cuts and will result in an installation that you will be proud of. Thank you again for your comments.

Good product. 5 stars if it came with stainless steel washers...
Using just the screw to connect to post, the handrail was lose and rattle every time you touched it. I put small stainless steel lock washers on the screw-head side of the gap and it made the connection solid with no play.

    Great product
I installed on concrete and used Tapcon+ 5/16". Had to be very precise with hole placement and made sure drill was plumb. Not much room for error with 5/16 Tapcon+'s but very strong installation. I've used 5/16" wooden dowels to make sure things stayed in place while drilling and screwing. Consult local building codes/engineer for proper fasteners.

    Excellent product
Same look as products costing 5 times as much. The customer service phone number was very helpful in assisting us with getting the required product we needed for the space we were installing. We had to order a different length than was carried in the store, which the company was fantastic in getting it expedited. Home Depot on the other hand was a nightmare. Our contractor was waiting on it, and they held it in the warehouse and then had it in the store and didn't notify us. I would use it again in a heartbeat.

      Good quality product
These railing are good quality aluminum. I was very happy to find 42" railings that looked so nice. We had some extra challenges with installation due to the slope of our deck, but our installers put it together well and it looks good and solid.

      Good quality product
The stair railings that use these connectors are difficult to put together. We also used these with stair posts to help account for the slope of our deck. They worked well for that purpose, but were more difficult to put together than the midrails, so definitely use the midrails if you have a level deck.

      Good quality product
The stair railings were difficult to put together, but they look nice and the aluminum is good quality. We bought extra stair posts because our deck has a slope (it is gradual, but amounts to a 4" difference in height over the length of the deck). We used the stair posts and universal connectors to stair-step the railing panels and take care of the slope. It worked, our installer said it was a bit of a pain, but he they did a great job. I imagine a sloped railing would be a bit of a pain for most products. It looks good and we are happy with it overall, and glad we could use the railing we wanted with a few tweaks.

Nice and functional as a table top
We used this glass panel as a table top for our home-built dinner table and are very satisfied with it. We looked up and down for a tempered glass top that is big enough to sit 6-8, steady but not too heavy, able to handle warm plates and coffee cups, and has smooth edges. All the tempered glass that originally are made as table tops are simply too expensive. We were very lucky to find this glass panel as an alternative. As a table top, this glass panel is thick enough to looks elegant. It sits 6 or 8 without a problem. It tolerates warm dinner plates, and the weight from 8 people resting their arms and elbows on the overhangs (7"). Its sleek-looking edges are very smooth. My arms do not hurt after resting on the edge for hours when I work from home. A few other reasons we like it that may or may not apply to others: 1. It is light enough that my husband can easily move by himself. 2. It is nearly transparent and reveals the art panel underneath well. 3. It looks sleek and adds a model element into our rustic-looking table. We have not put anything very hot directly on the table (dutch oven, pie plate, etc) so not sure how "heat resistant" it is. We also have not tried to put very heavy stuff on it (luggage, a child, my husband, etc) so not sure how much weight it can hold.

First let me say it is beautiful. But one Major downfall. It Kills lots of Birds.
I would recommend this product, but "ONLY" If you get some UV Liquid and also Silhouettes to protect the birds. Within the first couple weeks we have six dead birds around the deck. I can't imagine how many others hit the glass and survived, and maybe died later. It was very traumatic for our children to see a wounded BlueJay lay there dying. If you get this system, PLEASE protect the birds. It really does look beautiful, especially in the morning when there is a bit of front or dew on the glass.

Hi IMAng, and thank you for your comments and suggestions. Glass panels and windows do provide an unobstructed view of ones surroundings, which can be quite desirable and beautiful. We believe that careful placement of objects on the inside of the panels and use of the products that you have suggested would be a great balance between maintaining the desired view that you set out to achieve, and providing a diversion for birds away from your windows and railing structure at the same time. We hope you will enjoy your choice to use Peak Aluminum Railing for years to come! If you ever need to contact us, please feel free to do so toll free at (877) 883-7325.

          Excellent Do-it-yourself Aluminum Railing
I used the Peak Aluminum on my deck rebuild (capped composite decking) for a virtually maintenence free deck. Very easy to work with. Top and bottom rails cut easily with a high TPI saw blade made for nonferrous metals. However, I would not recommend cutting the picket spacers using the same blade. The spacers are too short (3 7/8") and several times the scrap end was caught by the blade and went flying. Dangerous situation! When installing the posts, make sure that the supplied 3" lag bolts have something substantial in which to screw. In my installation, two of the lag bolts screwed into the outside joist/face board. For the other two screws, I nailed a 2 x 8 between the joists, horizontally. In my installation, I used a combination of 4', 6' and 8' railing sections. In reading the installation instructions, it states that the widest allowable railing sections are 6'. I called the company and found out the 8' railing sections were being discontinued, but I found enough at a local store to complete the job. I basically did 55 linear feet of railing for about $1300. Much less expensive than pre-assembled aluminum railing sections.

Hello! We wanted to take a moment to say thank you for sharing your experience with the Peak Aluminum Railing system. All of your comments are extremely valuable. The cutting of the spacers is an important one as it involves the safety of the user. This can be challenging and we definitely recommend using a clamp to hold the spacer in place, or a short section of base rail turned upside down with the spacer engaged in it. We are very glad you are happy with your railing, and we thank you for choosing Peak Aluminum Railing!

          Fantastic Product.
Installed this system on my remodeled porch. I had a couple issues regarding quality control but Peak went above and beyond to correct the issue, sending me replacements direct from the factory. Overall it is a great product and company. As far as the installation is concerned Id say it is a little more involved than what a typical weekend warrior may want to attempt. The stair railing system is defiantly not for a beginner. Being that stairs can have infinite combinations of rise and run there is no fool proof railing out there on the market. But with some patience this system is one of the better I have seen. After I completed my project my parents saw it and fell in love with the look and the fact there is no maintenance. I have since replaced all of their old rotted wood railing with this product.

Difficult system in a non-standard setting, need more clarity re: Railing Kit vs. Stair Railing Kit
My "good" review and "yes" recommendation are conditional... This system is solid and is probably pretty easy-ish to install on a nice level wood deck or standard wood stairs. However, it is a complete nightmare on old, uneven concrete steps. Also, you need to be sure you are working an associate who knows that the railing kits ARE NOT THE SAME as the STAIR railing kits. Packaging (some red, some green) does not seem to correspond to anything specific (i.e. railing length, color or use). The colors on the packaging seem random. UNIVERSAL BRACKET NOT SO UNIVERSAL Installation was also complicated by my first sales associate not knowing that railing kits are different than STAIR railing kits. We looked at the available packages in-store and based on the pictures and instructions, it looked like you could just use a "universal bracket" to account for the angle of the stairs. NOT SO. NOT EVEN REMOTELY "UNIVERSAL". The "universal" bracket only works on the standard, rail kits, not with the STAIR rail kits. RAILING VS. STAIR RAILING KITS The railings for the standard kits are much wider from those for the stair railing kits. I found this out the hard way after doing the set up, cutting the metal (non-stair) railing to size, drilling the specified holes in the "universal" bracket and then finding that the railing did not fit the stair bracket that came with the stair post. END POST VS. STAIR POST Again, not the same thing. The end posts have top rail brackets welded on that are designed to fit the wider, non-stair railings. They are not designed to pivot with the angle of a stair. PICKETS VS. STAIR PICKETS Since the first store I went to did not appear to have stair-specific brackets the associate and I looked at the picket box and it looked like these would be the same and work for stairs. NOT SO. Stair kits have the same sized pickets, but different (angled) spaces. Hard to know this since there was nothing else available. I wasted nearly $100 in materials and a full day of work because of the stair vs. non-stair kit issue. This could be solved with: 1. Packaging that clearly identifies the difference between these two kits and notes that they are not compatible. (Not just a disclaimer on instructions inside of the box) 2. Naming - specifically the "universal" connector which is only for use with non-stair kits. 3. Sales education. The associates in the railing and fence department should get better information on the difference between these kits. Thanks for hearing me out.

peak stair railing added to finish project
this is a follow up to our earlier review of the deck rail system we installed. because of building permit issues with regards to stair rail height of the wooden hand rail we had put up we opted to take that down and install the Peak stair rail system. While I still will recommend it, but with reservations. an earlier review from another customer was critical of the directions on installation and the on line video directions need to be more detailed. its not as easy as the video makes it look. we had trouble in determining where to put the brackets on the posts in order to meet the 34 to 36 inch height required by our permit. we struggled with that for a bit but once we got the first 6ft section set we had a guide for the rest. we found that you need at least 2 people to put it together 1 to install balusters and 1 to keep holding it together so it does not come apart while moving it into position. so some take aways Does it look good now that its done.... Yes definitely Ease of assembly.... I would give it 50/50 we had our moments nothing that could not be handled easy for a novice DYIer.. basic skills on how to use drill and hacksaw definitely required Value..... What can I say beauty is in the eye of the beholder its on the pricer side but if you want a good looking result sometimes price does not matter as much as satisfaction with the finished project. Would I do it again .......yes it had its challenges but it does look great \

          Easy to assemble, nice look.
The pickets go into the top an bottom rails very easily if the rails are spaced appropriately. I highly recommend watching Peak Products how-to videos on You Tube. Make sure you get the first picket plumb before putting in the spacers and the rest of the pickets.

new Peak railing sytem on our new deck
we just finished installing the Peak white railing system on a new 16'x14' elevated deck. It came out looking great but the assembly is not as easy as the video portrays. this is not a project for a novice. . biggest issue is that the posts Must be perfectly Plumb. least amount out of plumb was magnified greatly at the other end of the 6' rail. requiring disassembling squaring and reassembly. there is minor tweaking that needs to be done on the spacers to help keep everything looking good. we used the diamond spacers to give the railing a nice look but they are a major pain to screw to the balusters. the self tapping screws are very tiny and the angle that you have to drill them is difficult. best way I found was to pilot drill each one then use a 4" magnetic Phillips driver bit to install the screws. don't know how many of them we had to find in the grass 10feet below when the drill slipped (hint include a few extra screws in package) the railing also has one side that we used two 6 foot sections of the 6 inch glass panels. this part was what we feared doing the most and it wound up being the easiest of the sections to install. the overall craftsmanship of the components was excellent. we had no issues with sliding spacers or balusters into the channels. I will recommend using a new quality hacksaw blade when cutting the channels and spacers. With all the intricate channels in the rail section it was a challenge to keep cutting straight. no fault of the railing just a lot to cut through. Would I recommend this system YES Would I buy this again... YES even though this is somewhat on the pricy side it worked perfectly for our application. I would recommend that you have a basic knowledge of construction and know how to use the needed power tools. and always measure twice before cutting the rails at the price of the rails mistakes are not an option

          Poor Customer Service
I installed this product in three of my houses; over 200 feet of the glass panels and over 100 feet of the aluminum rails. They claim it is easier to install then their competitors. It took me a long time to learn some tricks that did make it less difficult. Stair rails are a nightmare to install. I actually tore down a long set of stairs rather than try and intall the rails. They would not help me exchange the stair posts for other ones I need.
