This is a great product ,,, Easy To Install for any DIYer or seasoned pro,,, This Under Floor Warming Mat System installs between existing floor joists; from available crawl space or basement beneath..It also works under any type of flooring, including tile hardwood, carpets linoleum, etc.... All you do is unroll the heat mat, I found it easier if I folded the edges before putting it between the joists, MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO NAILS poking thru the floor, they can scratch the film and break a connection causing it not to work.. I just tapped over a few nails with a hammer then staple the film as close to the sub floor (touching) as you can. You can then install or re-install your insulation.. wiring it up was fairly easy as it comes with very long leads and the instructions are well written you will have to pick up a thermostat as one is not included. The whole installation takes about 2-3 hours if everything goes in your favor Now I can walk into the bathroom a 2 A.M. and the floor is cozy warm... Before it was like walking on an ice pack, Also nice after you get out of the shower..The total cost is well worth the warmth and comfort as if your feet are warm your whole body stays warm.... I would recommend this to anyone who hates cold feet....

This type of Quietwarmth radiant floor heating film is really convenient for existing floors, but it may be more effective on some flooring materials than others. We installed this in a bathroom with a heavy ceramic tile and it takes a considerable amount of time to get the surface to even approach the temperature of the subfloor. The temp sensor in the subfloor will get to the desired temp far faster than the floor surface of our tiles. For floors with linoleum, laminate or wood surfaces, I'm sure this would work far faster, but the amount of mass that needed to be heated in our bathroom definitely challenged the heater. The install is very simple and the directions were truly excellent, including great tables, planning sheets and tips. This unit installs best with classic dimensional joists. We have wood I-beam type joists which have a slightly greater distance between then them than the thicker dimensional lumber. The panels did reach the adjacent beams, however and could still be safely stapled in. Be careful positioning these above plumbing lines or other obstacles. Kinking the film has to be avoided so that the electrical paths are not broken. The wires that come with these rolls are 12AWG. Each panel draws less than 1 amp, so this wire is far heavier than needed for a single panel. The heavy wire connects to the film with a crimped on connector that is covered in plastic. Great care is needed here too, to make sure that positioning the wire does not kink and break the copper bus strip. Tying a number of these 12AWG wires together is a non-trivial connection. You can gang many of these together in parallel on a single thermostat, but due to the use of 12AWG wire, connecting them will be require more than a couple wire nuts. We really like the convenience and ease of installation, but with our heavy tiles, we would recommend this for floors consisting of material with less mass.

I installed this under my chicken coupe to keep the little guys warm in the winter months. It easily attached under the floor between the "joist's" and wired up to a thermostat I set up inside the coupe. The film is very thin and has edging that folds and staples to the joist for installation. The attached wiring is long and allows for connection to a junction box. The best part (to me) is that the film can be cut and taped off if you need to shorten the total length of a section. I recommend this product, especially if you're adding heat to an existing floor that you don't want to rip up for under floor heating (or creating a 21st century chicken coupe :)

These work well under the subfloor if you have access to that space. They could use a little extra on the sides to accommodate slightly wide joist bays. And as others noted the cables are very thick and stiff so a bit of a wrestle to get them wired together with power. I think the slide-in connectors would work better than wire nuts. Heat up the floor nicely but not enough to heat the room, even a tiny bathroom. I’d supplement with HVAC heat in cold environments like the PNW.

Heating element was fairly easy to install and wiring it in was a snap. The floor took a little while to heat up due to heating from beneath the subfloor, but the floor kept its heat well.

Overall I really love these heaters, heated floors are a great idea. My bathroom floor and the bathroom is much warmer now than it was before I installed the QuiteWarmth subfloor heaters. I had tried space heaters that had 1500W but they were noisy and not as effective. These heaters are fairly easy to install as long as you have access to the subfloor. With these subfloor heaters and a layer of insulation at the bottom of the joists I was able to raise the temperature of my big bathroom floor from 59 degrees to 74.... and this is only with 220W of electric power! Yes the insulation is doing part of the job but these heaters do the rest! The results were excellent.... the reason I rate these good instead of excellent is because I had one of them break during installation and in general I don't think they are as sturdy as they should be. You need to be very careful not to break them during installation. The electric cables are very sturdy but the elements are plastic and one must be very careful not to let the cable break where it meets the plastic ... or the plastic to break during installation. Once installed nothing moves and I do not anticipate any problems.

I purchased this product to install under the engineered wood. It held very good and never torn with even heavy pulling. Time will tell

The electrical wire leads coming off the film ends are somewhat finicky. Caveat emptor: the low power consumption of these panels corresponds to low heat output. My dreams of toasty warm floors have been supplanted by a reality of barely perceptibly warm floors.

First time using these and i'll say i'm very impressed. I have a split level house, the living room/kitchen floor has a 4ft high crawl space underneath it. This crawlspace was not insulated, even the ducts did not have insulation. By the time the "hot" air went through the ducts in the crawl space to the far vents, it wasn't even "luke warm" air coming out. I put these between my trusses against the subfloor. As these are pricey and I didn't want such a majority amount of heat coming from just the split floor and not going to the other 70% of the house, so I did it every other joist. I then put some Rockwell bats against those flush with the bottom of the joists. All I can say is it's night and day difference. Not only that, but my furnace doesn't have to run nearly as much. The install is pretty easy. Though I would say anyone without basic DIY skills would likely have difficulty. Putting it in a crawlspace is very easy. However to install in an existing ceiling/floor would obviously be much more difficult. Talking removing drywall/insulation, putting this in, then redoing it.

I have been a builder remodeler for 48 years, and as such I have had many opportunities to instal a product like this 5 FT. X 16 IN. 240-VOLT RETROFIT RADIANT HEAT FILM FOR UNDER EXISTING FLOORS AND SUBFLOORS. I will often recommend this to my clients, as the comfort and low operating cost pays huge dividends in customer satisfaction. I highly recommend it.

We installed new tile in our bathroom. I decided to provide this in front of the vanity for warmth. My wife likes the added heat over normal tile. I used a controller with this and it heats up pretty quickly and provides enough warmth that you can tell it is adding heat. It changed my wife's perspective that tile is always cold and made the new tile work for us.

This really helped take the chill out of our tiled bathroom floor. We recently built a house and I regretted not putting in a heated under layment before installing the tile. This was just what we were looking for to remedy that problem. Installation is a bit involved, so if you are not comfortable with running electric I would hire someone to do that. If you are familiar with that type of work you will have no problem installing this. You will need a temperature probe and a dedicated thermostat, these things are not included with this. We are happy with the performance of this retro fit floor heater. I attached this to a 10 ft panel to get the coverage I wanted. Having heated flooring is one of those things you never knew you missed until you have it.

I got these to install for my downstairs bathroom after installing another type under new floors. I loved these and wanted to have them in the bathroom without ripping up the floor and installing new ones. The ease of installation will depend on how easy it is for you to get to the floor joists or subfloor of your existing floor. I didn't realize how small a space I would have when doing this which is really my fault not the product. I got two of these to cover the entire area and they are easy to cut down to size if needed. I am happy with the finished floors and how nice these when the floor warms up. It does seem to take a little longer to heat the floors with these than the one's I installed directly below new flooring. I would recommend getting the thermostat to work these with as well.

Talk about easy! This was one of the neatest projects to date. I have an older home, 1950 era. The upstairs bathroom is on an outside wall. When the wind blows and the temperature drops the tub and shower are a quick in and out! I removed the tub and lined the underside with the Retrofit Heat Film. Applied sheeted insulation and replaced the tub. Now I can soak in comfort or shower until the water goes cold.

OK, I'm sure a lot of us do this, get up at night to use the bathroom and walk on that cold wood or tile floor, not fun, but here is the solution, QUIETWARMTH radiant heat film for under subfloors, what a cool idea and very easy to do, the box shows you how to install it, or you can go online for instructions and you'll need to pick up a thermostat, tack the film between the joist in the length you need, cut to fit, add insulation and run your wires to a thermostat and your floors will be toasty warm !! I ran mine the whole 10 feet from the hallway to the bathroom and ran the wires up next to the light switch for the thermostat in about an hour and a half and I Love walking on a nice warm floor and you can do this anywhere you want a warm floor, bath, kitchen, hallway, so cool !!

Extremely simple to install. I used this as a retrofit to enhance my 3/4 guest W.C. and powder room. Save the shipping box. Installation is so easy, there is no instruction booklet. Four steps are captioned under three photographs on the package. One might say installation is intuitive. I did not gain experience with cutting to length; but will do this with additional rolls as I expand the coverage. The type of switch or timer to be used is not addressed by the product literature. But the electrical power consumption is accurately told, so one simply can figure out the electrical power draw for the complete installation. The power leads are nearly 15 feet long and are comprised of solid copper 12 AWG, so one has no difficulty routing adjoining mats into a Code-compliant junction box. The manufacturer also has similar products for use under various other floor finishes. And they produce thermostats that can be controlled through Wi-Fi. Besides expanding my coverage beneath tile floors, I am considering additional of these for use as heater mats under seedling starter trays. Of course I'm going to shelter them with a moisture proof counter top because I don't believe wetting the film is advisable.

Before ordering this product make sure you order the controller need to operate it. It does not come with the matt and you don't want to get stuck in the middle on the installation only to find out what you are missing. Before you start please check the matt with a volt/ohm meter for resistance, and continue to do this thru the installation process. Be very careful when trolling the floor and the wires.

It was only after we moved into our house we realized the open plan first floor had no heat in it. This meant cold floors over our unheated basement. Installation was pretty quick, and fairly painless. Don't forget to purchase a control devise as one is not included with this set up. I am not an electrician, but the wiring and install was straight forward, if you have wired new outlets and switches before this will be on par in terms of difficulty.

This is a radiant heating element that can be trimmed in 12" increments for the length. The width is meant to be installed between floor joists 16" on center. The connecting wires are solid core copper and are quite stiff so routing and attaching are important. You can use multiple mats to heat a large area. A temperature sensor is not included, and although nice to have is not necessary for operation. Being radiant heat, it takes awhile to feel the heat, but it is a very even warmth.

We have an older home that has wood floors and on pier and beam and in the winter time the floors get cold and I have installed insulation under our bathrooms , and this has helped but they still get cold and so I decided to install some radiant heat film under the sub floor and I am really glad I did . Now the floors stay warm and I am very impressed how well these work.

The QuietWarmth 120-Volt Radiant Heat Film for floors is the product you never know you needed. My tile floors are notorious for attempting to give me frostbite in the mornings and when I had a chance to put his below the floor when it got replaced, I jumped right on it. Would probably be best if you hired a qualified electrician to install this for you, but well worth it.
