The item itself looks OK, but the listed size is not correct and it will not fit in the 17.9 inch space between my ceiling and wood molding below. The stated size of the exterior grille in the listing is 17.75 in long and 17.5 in wide. That is not correct. The actual size is 18.75 in for both length and width.

Biggest gripe, if you use the supplied screws the screwholes in the frame are too close to the edge and interfere with the door closing. And since the door is swung almost shut you can't tell it untill after yo swing the latched close and they completly miss and the door falls open, or you bend the flimsy latches trying to get them to catch and close. I had to grind a flat in the first screws I tried. will try and move the holes inward when I put in the permanent screws.

The grill did just what I wanted it to do.

Generally, this vent filter grille is good. A few cons:1- The corners cut don't make the exact 45 degrees on each side, which leaves unmatched 90 degrees corner.2- The inside of the grille is not exactly square. It needs to be bent a bit and I had to use the vent sticky tape to cover these gaps.

The grill looks like i made it myself at home by hand! The paint terrible! The material is so cheap! The corners are not 90 degree . I’m so disappointed with this product! I want to return it but already mounted ! Please don’t sell this product!

Had to return it, there was a dent in the grille. Customer service was great on the return. Will have to reorder. The average rating was due to the dent.

I guess this register is not a standard size in Texas so it was not available here. I had to order it online and wait for it to ship from Oregon. Other than the wait, there were no surprises and I'm pleased with the purchase.

Orderd 2 units online, picked at my local store (did take some time to get there...). The product looked great seems durable and fit like a glove. Thought it was going to be harder to install but was a breeze. ....

This was a perfect fit. Please note the size is exactly as described. If your vent is smaller than 16x16, this will be too big. However this seems to fit well with a standard 16x16 duct opening. The latches are easy to get to and open with no trouble at all There is a nice bevel around the edge instead of just being flat. I didn't expect that but it works out really well. Also the entire grill easily is removed for cleaning. This is a nice feature which should be emphasized. The grill actually detaches if you so desire and you can then clean and put it back. It is easy enough to detach that you can do it with a single hand. There are four mounting screws included adn several pre-drilled holes in the base that allow you to screw fron the front or from the inside. This uses a standard 16x16 filter and the filter fits well. Snug without having to force it in.

Easy to install, fits perfectly. No more going outside to change the filter!

I recently purchased a very well kept 10 year old condo, but the first thing I noticed during my first walk through, was the awful discoloration of the return air vent grille which was on a wall near the living room, and in full sight. It looked terrible and I knew I had to change it. I went to Lowe's, the closest store to where I live, but they did not have the size, and were no longer able to order it. I was able to order it on the Home Depot website and had it shipped to the store free, which was another great feature. Not only was this product the perfect size, and easy to install, but I saved the shipping charge, and it looks great.. Home Depot is now my # 1 store. If you are military or former military, Home Depot will give you a discount.

Grille was very easy to install. Description was spot on. Arrived on time. Packaged well. Heavy duty feel. Latches well.

Product was good and came quickly. When received I noticed that the base was too big for the space. Rookie mistake, possible? 16x16 is the inside dimension. (and after checking the site again, noticed that there are not any measurements in the drawings to help those of us with an "intuitive" mindset.) So don't take an existing cover, observe that the old cover is 16x16 and assume that this is the right one. Make sure you measure between the studs. Mine turned out to be 14x14. Returned the product to the store without hassle and have since re-ordered the smaller size. My last home had these installed, and they worked great. Glad I finally looked online as these are not carried in the store.

Would have spent more if I had know the low quality of the product. The locking tabs are cheap bent metal. Tiny locking hooks look fragile and could break easily. It did hold itself in place on the ceiling while I drove some screws.

I have purchased and used the 12 x12 and 16x16 both worked great and was easy install. Must admit that I laughed out loud at the sticker on the package "Hands free Installation" so I laid it on the floor but nothing happened.

I am so happy I bought this intake grill cover. It was exactly what we needed for the intake in our living room. I change the filters in the intakes regularly so before I had this one, with a hinged door, it was a real pain. I was so happy to have found the right size online, as they don't carry the 16"x16" in our local store. Installation was very easy, even though I had to prep the register opening a bit by tapping the edge with a rubber mallet. Once I did that (doubt you'll have to) it was a breeze. Now changing the filter is quick and easy! Definitely buy this grille.

Was concerned it would not fit, but it slid perfectly into an existing return vent sleeve that had been used with a standard grille on it.

The grille works as advertised. The easy, no tools required install was a definite plus.

After driving all over town, we finally found the return air vent on line and ordered it immediately. It arrived when it was supposed to and was easy to install. My only criticizm would be that the screws were not included which prompted another trip to Home Depot. Overall we are very satisfied.

The grills look great and are extremely easy to install. I was taken aback a bit because they don't come with instructions, but it only takes a minute of looking at them to figure out how they work. I was hoping they would have a clip that holds the filter since they're called filter grilles, but they don't. They're still heads and shoulders better than what I replaced and I would buy them again.
