Drill some drainage holes in the bottom and you’re set

I have six of these planters in my garden and they are excellent planters that also provide a little height in my container gardening. They hold a decent amount of plants and the black color makes the plants stand out that much more. I do have to drill extra holes in both the urn and urn base so that there is adequate drainage. I needed somethin to keep my indoor plant in to avoid water draining out on har wood floor, As this has no holes in it did the trick.

Great looking planter. I wanted a centerpiece for my garden and this just right. It is very sturdy and durable and exactly the size i needed it held all the plants that I wanted and looks good. A great price too!

I bought 6 of these for my back deck. You just can't beat the size pot for the price anywhere. These were such a great deal, they are nice height and big enough to plant a good variety of plants for the back and front patios at my new house. I am sure these will give me years of use.

Great for the Price. I did drill holes threw the top and stand as I prefer drainage.

The Viceroy urn gives a traditional flair to our doorstep. It created a dramatic look to our front door. The planter has the look of a heavy clay pot but is made of plastic; it is heavy duty. The look is elegant. The design is a basic but classy. My wife filled the urn with colorful flowers that brings out the beauty of our front door. The urn is durable and will stand up the intense sun without fading.

This black plastic urn looks plastic. The statement that the "unique craftsmanship of these urn planters mimics their clay counterparts in traditional design"....not quite. I can always use an extra planter, and this one is doing its job and looks ok, but I'm glad I didn't buy a pair to sit outside the door. You will need to drill some drain holes in the bottom, and I couldn't tell if the base was supposed to twist in, or pop into the bowl, so I hope it's locked on appropriately. I was easily able to place 5, 4" plants into the planter. My wife thinks it looks better than I do, so I guess it's all a matter of opinion.

The Southern Patio Viceroy 18" planter is a great planter for the price. It is a sturdy resin and I have put a younger plant into it that will be outside in summer and inside for winter. It is resin, so being black, it will be in a low sun area. I'm not sure if it would fade and I will bring it back into the house for winter, so I will protect it from the hot afternoon sun. There are no holes in the bottom but you could add some for drainage. I added some crushed aluminum cans to the bottom of the pot before I put the dirt in to keep the roots of the plants out of any water on the bottom because, with bringing it in and out, I don't want the drain holes.

The Southern Patio Viceroy 18" Diameter Black High-Density Resin Urn planter is an excellent planter for the price. IT seems very sturdy when put together. I appreciated that the molding process took care to not leave any visible seam lines, adding to the overall look. They even thought to add a tab to the base that you can pin the urn down with in case of tipping hazards where you are placing it. My only concern is that they didn't plan for any drainage (I was going to take off a star for that, until I thought that they may have intentionally done this in case it was being used for an indoor application). However, you can easily add drainage holes with a drill. I suggest a 3/8" bit in a pattern like I marked on the photos. This will allow excess water to drain out under the urn, not dripping down the base, staining it. I look forward to using it to have flowers by the pool this Summer.

The Southern Patio Victory Planter is an asset to any homeowner. The size gives many opportunities for variety. It can be used in the off season with artificial plants and folage giving a neat appeal. The size is great for potted plants with Spillers and Thrillers. The color compliments any surrounding and can assist with any floral colors. The two sections fit together with interlocking ribs giving the two pieces great stability.

The Southern Patio Viceroy high-density resin urn planter ships in two parts and is easy to screw together. After attaching the two parts, I recommend that 3 or 4 holes be drilled through the two parts so that the planter has sufficient drainage. The manufacturer states that the planter has a UV coating which provides long-lasting color protection. This is especially important since a black planter is likely to fade if it is used in a bright, sunny location. To add weight to the planter and prevent it from tipping over, I put a 5 pound rock in the bottom before filling with potting soil and plants. The planter is a generous size--18 inches in diameter. I was able to fill the planter with 12 light yellow pansies. Later in the growing season, I plan to fill the planter with caladiums and move it to a shady location.

This pot is quite strong for being plastic. I would definately recommend drilling one or two holes in the bottom including the base, to allow water drainage. Many people don't on this type of pot and they will drown the roots of most plants. I see no reason that the pot couldn't be scuffed and painted with a good plastic paint if you would want the pot to match your house or porch decor.

This Southern patio Viceroy 18 in. Dia black plastic Urn high-density resin looked great so I ordered it for my patio to put flowers in it for the summer. It was delivered to my house in a sturdy box and it arrived in perfect condition. When I open the box the Urn was black in color and is made in two pieces. The Urn is 14-1/2 in. in height and 17-1/2 in. wide at the top of the Urn and 9 in. Deep. The bottom of the base is 10-1/2 in. Wide and 4-1/2 in. Tall and you will have to screw them together. This Urn is very elegant looking I think it was a great purchase. I also noticed the Urn did not come with any drain holes at the bottom of the pot so you must be very careful on how much water you give your plants. I also wished that I ordered two of these Urn instead of one. This was a good purchase for me I'm very happy with the product but I did notice they were made in China but I still will recommend the Urn for your home or outdoor needs

We love our new 18 inch black Viceroy Urn Planter! It is made of sturdy High Density Resin with a UV coating that makes it weather resistant, and it is very lightweight. The attractive black color is long lasting and very attractive. It comes in 2 pieces that easily snap/screw together. This makes it easier to take apart and drill holes in bottom for easy drainage. There are endless design options for this beautiful urn!

No hole for water to get out. My plants died from drowning.

Should have had a drainage hole in the bottom. But the plastic is soft enough to drill one in without issue. It’s just that I’m getting tired of fixing manufacturing defects. But it does look nice and works well with our design scheme.

Just need to drill drain holes. I have bought 7 of these.

Right size good quality. Was very surprised that there were no drain holes but a few minutes with a drill took care of that issue.
