Great idea! The hole in the drywall never fits the outlet box. New construction, re-modeling, makes no difference... holes and boxes never want to go together. So you whack and you bash. Do-up your wires, put the cover-plate on, there's gaps you can put your finger through. Spackle isn't a good answer. Heavy spackle doesn't want to stay in the gap. You fuss with back-patches, then it doesn't dry for a week and shrinks badly. Lightweight spackle goes right in but is so soft it comes right out. Picture below is typical improvised patching. Outlet-Patch is very thin fiber-board punched to fit an outlet box (several sizes) and treated to take drywall compound. Mud it up, slip over the box, skim the surface. Quick and solid.

With instructions on the pack you can not get any easier. After masking the baseboards and putting down a drop cloth I double checked the breaker, making sure it was off. I lightly sanded the area around the repair and completed the repair in no time. The next receptacle box I repaired was a bit bigger than I thought so I used a bit more compound than was suggested, I let it cure over night and finished it the next afternoon.

Those gaps around electrical boxes when hanging sheetrock are easy to fix with this repair kit. The patch goes on quick and easy.and the gaps disappear! No need to buy oversized outlet and switch covers anymore. .

These patches are so easy to use and get a smooth-looking wall behind outlet and switch covers. They're rigid enough to hold their shape while filling in around them, and they give enough support that you really only need one application (as opposed to repeatedly filling in big gaps, waiting for shrinkage and cracks, refilling, etc.). Over several remodels, I've learned that the drywall cutouts are never exactly the right size, and usually neither the drywaller nor the electrician want to spend much time patching holes around electrical boxes. Any homeowner with a bit of drywall patch compound and a spackle blade can fix imperfections using these patches.

The Outlet Patch repaired and reinforced damaged drywall areas around the receptable boxes for me. It is really quite efficient and easy to use. I would definitely recommend this product.

Beats using drywall tape, hands down. Sheets are just the right size. Thin, but stiff. Wish I had these a long time ago!
