I have a number of security cameras. The view day or night on this particular camera is outstanding! Easy to see things day or night. There is limited free storage with options to purchase more thru the cloud. This camera has two way audio where I can listen or speak to someone. Right now since its inside I chat with my dog at times! I love the ability to log on and see the live feed of what is going on in my back yard. The only negative I can see is I would love to be able to save video locally but since there is free storage. You can zoom in it pixalates a little but not so bad that you cannot make out what is going on. It has great night vision with infrared that lights up even the darkest places at night. Its very easy to set up the motion sensitive areas you want to get notifications on. I get alerts basically immediately on my mobile phone when the camera senses motion. "Not all 1080p video is the same. Kasa Cam is fine-tuned to deliver rich colors, balanced lighting and sharp video quality" I can attest to this. The color and clarity is second to none. "Kasa Cam is part of the Kasa smart home family of devices including plugs, bulbs, switches and more, you can easily control multiple smart home devices with the Kasa app or use your voice for added convenience, with Kasa, your home is never more than a few taps away" My plan all along has been to create a smart home and Kasa has many great products that will allow me to do just that! it is compatible with Alexa but does not require a DVR to connect to. This camera gets Paul's Gold seal of approval! Price is right too!

I really love the Kasa brand of products for their easy set up,fair pricing and good quality products. This indoor cam was added quite easily to my existing account and set up took less than 10 mins. It is not a large bulky camera, and very simple in design. The only down side is that it is fixed and you cannot rotate the camera up or down or side to side. However you can zoom in/out or focus on one area that is in the cams view. The sound quality for hearing background noise is good but talking to someone via the cam is not the greatest but they did hear me. The stream quality and picture is quite clear and sharp and allows a broad view of your image or room. Overall it’s a good cam and does it job quite well. I’m not that fussy but expect a good and clear picture for a decent price that is easy to use and set up. Kasa delivers on those points and having the app makes life easy. Kasa products also work with smart home assistants and it is fun and easy to turn on/off with that. Make the tech products work for you and on your terms.

This is a different class of IP camera. From the hefty base to the app and not forgetting the better than average quality of the video capture this camera does things a little differently from the crowded IP cam’ field. Start by downloading the app to a smartphone and then register and setup the account. It is quick and easy. Two days worth of recordings can be kept in the Kasa cloud free of charge and upgrades to 14 days and 30 days are available for a fee. There is no provision for local storage such as an SD card but clips can also be downloaded and important events can be saved or redistributed as needed. There are many thoughtful touches included with this camera; there is a Velcro wire tidy included to neatly store any of the ten feet of USB cord that is not needed. There are multiple fixing options for the camera; in addition to free standing there is a clip on base that can be fastened to another surface (screws included) and there is a powerful magnet built in to the base that provides adhesion and steadiness. At the end of the day it is about the reaction time of the motion sensor and the quality of the video capture. Neither aspect disappoints with fast reaction times to start recording and very good quality of both video and stills. Strangely, playback can exhibit a bit of speeding up and slowing down of moving bodies. Different resolutions can be set by the user – the sample video is at 720p and that works just fine with great detail. Activity zones can be set to maintain privacy where required. Live view is available anytime and any motion will trigger recording, day or night. It is even sensitive enough to pick up a small cat.

The quality of the video and sound are worth the extra cost IMO. I set up my camera 50 feet away and I can hear my self talking on my phone so the audio is unbelievable. The video is crisp and clear and can zoom in or out with a couple of taps of my finger. The cam has some good weight to it so it won't fall off a mantel easily plus it comes with a ceiling or wall bracket to conceal the cam better. The correct app to use is called the KASA SMART APP which was easy to install and is user friendly. The night vision works excellent also but the cam only moves up and down and not side to side but the camera projection can display most of the room.

With crime increasing in my area as in many areas I feel it is now necessary to have security cameras that can be seen when I am not at home. Many security cameras require extensive installation set-ups and requires someone with that type of training to install cameras. This Kasa has an easy install and set-up. Download Kasa for mobile app from Apple or Google, then plug in your Kasa cam, tap the plus button and follow instructions. Get up to 2 days of free cloud storage, and with motion and sound detection get instant alerts. This is an indoor camera with live or recorded capabilities. This camera works with Alexa and Google.

I’ve been using Kasa smart plugs with switchable outlets/receptacles for more than a year to control some of the lighting in my home. The receptacles and app have worked flawlessly for me. I recently got a Kasa Cam 1080p Indoor Smart Wi-Fi Camera to monitor activity at various locations in my home. The WiFi connectivity of the camera allows it to be placed anywhere that is within range of my WiFi access point. Connecting the camera to my home WiFi using the Kasa app was very easy. I use the Kasa iPhone app to operate the camera and to program its settings and schedule. I am very impressed by the user friendliness and functionality of the app. The sophistication of the app is one of the key reasons why I highly recommend TP-Link’s Kasa smart devices. The camera has many outstanding features. It’s ability to capture video in low-light conditions is astonishing, and I’ve found that the ability to program custom activity zones within the field of view provides a way to (almost) eliminate false alerts. I think it is worth mentioning that the operation of the camera is dependent on a connection to an unspecified website through your internet access point, i.e., your router. As such, the camera fits the definition of an Internet of things (IoT) device, which means it has the potential to be accessed from any other device on the internet. The Kasa Cam is ostensibly under the direct control of an unspecified and unidentified third-party server. The security of any IoT device is a matter of continuing debate. The Kasa app communicates with the third-party server and the server then communicates to the camera in my home. And vice versa. There’s no way to be certain that the server does not and can not communicate to the camera without my explicit direction, nor is there a way to know for certain that the video that it uploads to the server is encrypted and inaccessible to the operator of the server or to external hackers. Furthermore, although the connection to the third-party server is presently provided (mostly) without a fee, there’s no guarantee that a fee won’t be required in the future to maintain connection. There’s also no guarantee that whoever is running the server will be in business in the future; consequently, the server could someday become defunct. The Kasa Cam is completely useless without connection to a third-party server.

Similar to other Kasa products, set up was quick and simple. With the Kasa app and my phone on a 2.4Ghz network, I added the camera on the first try. Once it was in the app, it needed a quick firmware update. After that, it was ready to go. The camera has night vision and a microphone so I can see and hear what is going on in the room live from the app. It also senses motion and sends a notification to my phone, while recording a clip in the app so I can view it later. You can also set up zones if you are only interested in getting notifications about motion in one area of the screen. I like how crystal clear the video feed is. I have a couple of other cams that are supposed to be 1080 resolution, but many times they can be less than optimal due to wi-fi signal, etc. I have this cam down in my basement, 2 floors away from my router and the feed is great. The only downside is the length of time the clips are stored for free; its only 2 days unless you want to pay extra for 30 day storage. But, just like other major competitors, its a standard business practice. It can also be mounted to a wall with an included bracket and screws, but I have it set on a table. The stand itself is a hefty, sturdy metal, which gives it a premium fee. The usb power cable included is 10 feet long so you have some options for where you want to place the cam.

The camera feels very good. It's been a long time since I've said that about a peice of consumer electronics especially in this price range. That's the first thing I noticed when I took it out of the box. The case is metal and it's heavy. The swivel joints work smoothly. TP-Link is a brand of networking equipment I've known about for decades and trust. Installation and setup were very easy. Easier than other cameras I've used. It took care of all the wifi network switching that I've had to do manually in the past and could be confusing for some people. Image quality is pretty good. About what you'd expect for these types of security cameras. Bitrate is low on these types of cameras so you won't be filming home movies on it but picture is clear for security and monitoring purposes. Good exposure in both regular and nightvision mode. It does well in low light even without the IR. There are plenty of IR LEDs to light up the camera's view in the dark. Night vision is switched on automatically by default but you can turn it to be always off or always on. If you're pointing it outside a window for example you might want to turn it off to prevent glare. You can set it so it doesn't record audio if you'd like. The only option for storing videos is in their cloud. You get 2 days of storage for free, for more you need to pay an additional monthly fee. Motion detection is good and includes ways to limit alerts such as setting the sensitivity and defining up to 4 zones. This is good if you have the camera pointed where you see a lot of traffic but only care about traffic in limited areas of the picture. You can also create schedules so you only get alerted about motion during certain times of the day. There's an option to detect and record on sound as well as motion. You can download the images from the cloud onto your device and share them how you would normally share video files from your phone but there isn't a way to share files from within the app directly. There's also no website that would allow you to monitor devices from a computer instead of a tablet or phone. Hopefully those features come soon.

Kasa Cam 1080p Indoor Smart Wi-Fi Camera – This is a decent camera considering the price. The case construction is very sturdy with a weighted metal stand that helps it stay where you set it. The cord from the power adapter is a good length to reach a nearby outlet. The App is easy to understand and setup is very easy and fast. The video is great even the lowest setting with a crappy internet connection is very clear even low light and night vision. The two-way audio works well. Kasa includes 2-day free cloud storage; 1 GB of video. The camera has 3 levels of sensitivity for motion detection which may not provide adequate granularity to avoid activation miscues and false alarms to your phone. There is no micro SD slot for onboard storage since cloud storage is included. Scheduling the camera through the APP is nice, allowing it to shut off automatically during hours when it is not needed.

I've worked with a lot of security cameras, both at home, and for a living. This is by far one of the easiest setups I've ever seen. Download the app, create an online account, add the camera, and you are online. That easy and never before have I had this kind of luck. So, that said, I would recommend this based on that alone. The camera is very decent quality, a magnetic mount base that is heavy enough not to fall over. It has a magnet in the base as well, should you want to mount it to something metal. You get a wall mount plate, if you choose to go down that road. Included is also the USB power supply, and a 10' cable - thankfully it was 10' and not the typical little 3' size. 10' is more than enough to get it to an outlet. (NOTE: This is a WIFI camera, but needs to be plugged into an outlet, no battery inside). The app is easy to use, and easy to setup the various features. I'm a plain vanilla kind of guy so I was just interested in basic recording on motion, which it does very well. You get 2 days of free cloud storage or can opt to buy more days of storage if you want.....it comes with longer as a trial period when first creating an account. It has the ability to do 2 way audio, something I was very interested in....you can also set up notifications based on motion, or loud sounds, and privacy areas. This is a very powerful app and camera that can do such advanced features. You can also setup a schedule for on/off in which the camera will be powered down and up on a schedule. I do this now with a camera in my house, that is recording when the house is typically empty and turned off via a smart outlet switch when everyone is home - this means I only need the camera now and not the smart outlet - yay! You can also choose to record audio with video, or video only. I found I could record video only, but in live mode can hear and talk to the camera....in my case, I would use this to talk to my dog and assure her that she should not lick her paw (nervous tick) or to stop barking at the delivery driver. I am very impressed - in a market full of home security cameras, many of which are very cheap, I'll say you cannot go wrong with this. It connects, records, programs, etc. flawlessly. It has features most don't get close to, and frankly it just works like it should - solid connection every time. Doesn't drop out. 2 way audio, an app that doesn't crash, and analytics like sound recognition to alert you if something loud is happening at home while you are away.
