It was time for a new workshop heater, and this Turbro Model HR1500 model is a great replacement so far. With this heater, a lot of the output is through the top of the unit, a feature that warms up a cold area more quickly and evenly than similar space heaters that only put out heat to the front. This heater ships fully assembled with the exception of the casters which are attached to two bases. A #2 Phillips head screwdriver is the only tool required for assembly. Once assembled the heater may be rolled around. However, since it gets very hot the positioning should take place before it is plugged in. I haven't gotten into all of the features yet except to note that it has a Low and High selector switch, and a rotating power selector knob which is also the on/off control. A nice extra feature is the freeze prevention setting. When this is selected, the heater does not come on until the temperature is 23 degrees F or below. Conversely, it turns itself off once the temperature is above that.

This is a very useful slim design micathermic heater on casters that delivers heat without the use of a blower. It uses a heating element to heat up the mica stone which in turn emits electromagnetic rays that will warm up a room similar to convection heat that heats up the objects in the room vs the ambient air. Since I spend a great deal of time in my cold garage,especially in winter, I need a heater and so far this has worked really well and keeps me warm. I thought without a blower in the unit,I would not get the warmth I need but I was wrong in a good way. It’s noiseless and delivers a good amount of heat where I don’t even have to keep it at the max setting. The slim design fits nicely near my work table and the casters allow you to move it around easily. It has a simple to use control panel that shows power on/off-power selector(Hi/Low)-and a thermostat. You just turn the power selector to low or high and it will continue to heat until it reaches your intended temperature. It also has continuous heat mode and freeze prevention(prevents freezing with minimal energy). Overall,a great heater that gives off nice heat,easily portable and makes no noise.

I also own a similar-sized oil-filled heater. My first impression in comparing the two is that this one weighs considerably less. It am guessing less than half the weight. It also heats up and cools down much more quickly. It was very easy to assemble. It's just four screws, two for each set of wheels. Each set of wheels has an orientation tab, so there does not seem to be a 'wrong' way to assemble it. Very straight-forward. It took about five minutes to unbox and assemble. Heat output is very good and I do not hear anything while it is operating. Maybe when a room gets up to temperature there is an audible relay click to turn off the heating elements, but I have yet to hear it. I really liked my oil-filled heater, but this one is so much lighter and heats up so quickly, that this may win my favor. Certainly if you have to move this from room to room, weight is going to be a factor in deciding which heater to buy. This seems like a great design. It has all the efficiency and silence of an oil-filled heater, but the weight of a ceramic-element fan-based heater. I would definitely buy this over any ceramic element fan-based heater. The heaters that contain fans are not as safe, are less efficient, and make much more noise. I am really liking this heater and definitely recommend it!

The TURBRO Brand, Arcade HR1500, 1500-Watt Black Electric Space Micathermic Heater with Thermostat and Safety Protection provides virtually silent room comforting warmth. The heater in black is reminiscent of a 60’s Harrison automotive radiator on wheels. The three internal mica panels radiate heat energy from both sides as well as heated air rises from the top openings of the heater. We are using the heater in our living room to supplement our gas furnace to enjoy a greater level of comfort this winter. Because the mica panels produce radiant heat energy absent the red glow of nichrome or quartz elements, that heat objects rather than air, we feel warmth from across our living room without the need for a fan or fan noise from the heater. The heater employees three heat panels and two basic heat selections. One thousand watts, powering the two end panels and 1,500 watts powering all three panels. In addition to providing two basic heat settings, the heater incorporates an adjustable thermostat that controls the two end heat panels only, such that when the heater is operated on the 1,500-watt setting, the center heat panel is always powered on and heating. A fixed 500-watt heat setting can be achieved if the thermostat is turned all the way down and the heater operated on the 1,500-watt setting. The center panel is not thermostatically controlled other than protected by the safety protection systems when the heater is operated on the 1,500-watt setting as the center panel is always on. And while it is listed as having a low noise level, less than 23dBA. Myself, I only hear some sound, a faint buzzing or humming when first turning the heater on if listening carefully. Once the heater is at operating temperature, it seems virtually silent. The user manual cautions against using this heater in a bathroom or using it with a timer, among other cautions typical of portable electric heaters

I've had it about 1 month. It begins warming the whole room and extended areas immediately with an even heat much like wood heat only gentler. I enjoy it so much. It warms in front of it, behind, and above so you get this nice even warm air. The room warms up quickly, so i have used low temperature heat so far. Winter is not here yet but I'm sure it's going to be a much more pleasant one for me with my Turbro

This heater is perfect and it's exactly what I needed. Assembly took barely any time, but you do need to look at the manual. I've had it for several months now and am very satisfied with this purchase. I live in a large studio and it heats up the entire space in a very short amount of time. I have seen several reviews regarding the knob labeling. While it isn't clearly labeled, it is incredibly easy to figure out. The minimal settings makes it simple, which I prefer. One of the best features is that this heater weighs nothing. It is incredibly easy to move anywhere. It is also narrow and sturdy. Lastly, this heater makes no noise at all. It is the best space heater I have owned. The only downside is that there is no feature that displays the temperature. This is something that I liked about other heaters. However, it makes little difference in the end. It does the job of quickly heating a space and that's what matters.

This heater is really good. It helps to heat up small to medium sized rooms. This will not replace your whole house heater. The slim lined look makes it hide itself out of the way of humans. Even at max temp the heater is warm to the touch and won't burn you, excellent for pet safety and kids. If you are looking at this heater don't hesitate to purchase.

This is the best heater I have ever had -- people in my office are very envious!! The fact that it has the plates instead of the coils that heat up make it very comfortable.

Perfect ok for the bed room

I was hoping it would heat my garage gym but it barely warmed the adjacent area. It may be great for indoor use but just wasn't fitting for my needs.

A great heater! It really pumps out the hot air! The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that the 2 stage power switch and the thermostat dial are both totally unreadable! The markings and knobs are brown on brown so it takes a flashlight to read the setting! Really irritating!

Easily assembled, much lighter than old heater. Found the white color clean and neat looking. Only hope this heater lasts as long or longer than last one. Eight years, served its purpose. Very happy!

Don’t buy it. It poses a high risk of fire due to the fact the entire body gets very hot. I returned it.
