Hoping for the best
No installation instructions came with this product. Between the contractor and myself we figured out the best way to install the insulation. For a product costing $129 I would have thought that the zipper would be a really good one. It is not and I am concerned that it will fail even without a great deal of use. Very disappointing and the reason for my poor rating. As far as the thermal efficiency, it is hard to tell since it's summertime. Will know better once winter sets in.

Dear ThermoClimb Customer,
Thank you for your purchase. I'm sorry that instructions were not included (all installation manuals are available on the RemingtonSolar.com website), however, the installation should be extremely simple as you secure it to your attic frame. The zipper has been tested and should hold up. If there are any defects or problems with your ThermoClimb, please contact Remington Solar we'll be glad to make you happy. By the way, upgraded zippers HAVE been added to new ThermoClimbs. These message and review boards are a great place for customers to vent (hey, we buy stuff too and want it to be right), but our own internal surveys with our customers show the insulation properties and performance of ThermoClimb is fantastic. So please let us know how it works for you this winter. Thank you again...Remington Solar Remingtonsolar

Good product to seal a pull down stairs
This is a good choice if you have an old pull down stairs that needs a rim constructed around it because of the existing height of the metal arms projecting into the attic when closed. Do make sure you have your measurements, in mind, while building the rim.

It works very well
Bought it on a Wednesday received it the following Monday. My husband installed it himself in 30 min. I can't believe how much difference it has made. We have an old house the attic stair doesn't close tightly leaves about a 1/4 inch gap. If you put your hand by it you can feel the circulation of the air. The cover not only sealed off the gap, since it cut off the outtake end if the circulation, it stopped the cold air from being sucked in from our drafty front door when the heat is on. I would imagine it will do the same in summer. Our hall is much warmer now. Love it. The quality is very good. Thick and heavy duty. Haven't had the zipper problem like the other customer yet.

    Fantabulous product
I installed this product myself and it works great. I was initially concerned because it's a little bit bigger than my attic opening, but I was able to pinch the corners and screw it into the stairway opening frame to remove and opening. The thickness and quality of the fabric is very good. There is significant insulation material between the fabric shell. It took me about 20 minutes to install it once I had the right screws and washers. The zippers are a bit thin, but for the price, it's a great value. It seems to work pretty well though. No problems so far. Ok, so does it work? I'm amazed that it makes that much difference. I had a drafty hall that simply is not drafty any more. I didn't realize it was that bad before. I'm really interested to see what happens this summer. I expect it will also keep the cooler air in as well since there can be a pressure difference between my attic and house. (I did research that cold air can escape out the stairway as well since hot attic air is lower pressure, and colder air is higher pressure and can go right out the stairway attic door. Go figure!) I guess it's hard to figure out how long I'll get my money back in actual utility savings, but I know that I'm more comfortable in the house.

    It’s the zipper
It’s the zipper. Bought and installed a new attic ladder and the handyman installer did not center it properly. He left a hairline opening that I initially didn’t notice along one side. Hallway where ladder is located became drafty. I ordered new insulation and the insulation installer told me I needed an attic ladder cover – “the kind with the zipper.” I installed the ThermoClimb Adjustable Attic Stairway Insulator cover with the zipper myself and noticed the different almost immediately. Air movement in that hall is gone. The ThermoClimb Insulator cover comes with two zippers, either of which will zip all the way around. However the zippers are cheap and lightweight. One pulled apart within days of installation. Product does work but it could be even better.
