either my gophers or moles are the smartest animals or this trap doesn't work. I can move this trap every time I see a new run and the moles will tunnel all around this trap and never get caught.

First year I used one, several moles were caught so we purchased two more. Fast forward 3 years later, only 1 mole has been caught although traps are constantly tripped. Pul them up with no mole. Yard is now a hot mess.

Good Trap

Horrible. Just picked it up after a week, did not catch one. Instructions are horrible, hard to set, unsafe is you have to handle while set. Returning today.

Used for few times and worked well, then very small locking 'foot' broke...no repair part. Trash.

Broke after 3rd use. Only trapped 1 mole upon first use after that they avoided it even when using latex gloves to handle it.

Had tried & failed with gassers & the water hose - this worked first time, wish I went straight to this as my brand new yard would be in better shape..

This is the worst product I've ever had the displeasure of trying to use. It sucks. The directions suck. The products suck. I'm taking it back.

Too hard to set, too hard to trigger.

Set trap as instructed, 2 hours later mole was trapped. Mole problem solved!

I’ve used the old scissors type mole traps for years (Victor Out O’Sight) with good results. This one is made for a simpler set up, but it’s larger, has plastic shears, and will not actuate well in Ohio clay soil. It is also about as wide as most of the moles here.

My husband set it up as instructed and caught our mole the first night! My husband said it was easy to set up.

Extremely hard to set...I gave up.

While I did find it a little hard to set due to the strong spring. Once I got it set in an active mole tunnel, I quickly caught the moles tearing up the yard. One hint. When setting it, make sure there is a hole in the ground deep enough for the trigger.

I’ve been dealing with a mole problem on my otherwise beautiful lawn for the last few years. I’ve tried literally EVERYTHING with no success. After watching the Tomcat video a few times we set the mole trap and WHAM! Got our first mole in under 2 hours. Caught our second one today!

This trap really works and is a lot easier to set than the old metal version. I have killed 3 moles in the past month! Try to set it in the areas with the least amount of roots to allow the trap to spring and close quickly. Make sure the channel is clear so the "teeth" can close.

Very difficult to get into the ground and set. Very poor

I have killed 56 moles in these traps in the last 3 years. Excellent product when had trouble with other products.If they are not working for you then you are not setting them correctly in the right places.

I bought this yesterday and can’t get it set using all my strength. The springs are so tight I can’t get it to budge. Taking it back.

Difficult to use

Good Mechanical Mole Extraction Tool:Tomcat Mole Trap in use for one week, and caught my first very mole. I’m going to move it to other active tunnels until I feel full family eradication. The Trap takes some physical effort to force into the firm ground a flat blade shovel helps with cocking jaws

Caught nine moles with it. If the ground is a little hard, I keep pushing the pedal up and down until it moves freely in the tunnel before setting. It kills the mole, and I just release it and bury them in their own tunnel. Great product. Follow the directions, and it works great.

I purchased this trap after reading both the positive and negative reviews but needing something other than a plunger type trap which has never worked in the past. After watching the video on the Tomcat website I set the trap on what I thought was an active tunnel run and waited. Within the first 3 hours I had trapped the pesky mole, I couldn't believe it! As for the actual setting of the trap I would recommend watching the video because it certainly helped. Once you get the hang of it it's really not that difficult to set. I found that the front forks need to dig in first in order for the foot pedal to depress completely so I just applied more pressure to the end of the pedal which drove the forks into the turf after placing it perpendicular to the tunnel. I would recommend this product, it's not messy to remove the mole from the trap and the the trap itself seems to be pretty sturdy when used correctly.

Did not work

I tried spraying castor oil a few times. It made no difference. I tried a few different baits, and still saw more tunnels in my yard. This trap worked within less than 24 hours of the first time I set it up. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a permanent solution.

Excellent trap. Caught 5 moles recently 2 within 1 hour of setting it. The key is dig the slots deep so the trap can set and close effectively. Much better than the metal scissors trap. You don't have to dig so much and it's safer too. Also, no need to cover it with a bucket and constantly check to see if you caught one.
