It’s such a problem when needing help in lumber or needing wood cut. Some staff are wonderful and love talking home projects and some working on side projects at the store (stocking or what have you) seem like they don’t have the time to do that and help customers.

The helpfulness of the employees was excellent. I purchased a 32'x80" storm door to replace one that had broken. I was sure it would fit in my SUV. It was about 2" too long. An employee not only helped to try and load my car, but went over and above what was necessary for me to get it home. I am elderly and its not always easy to find help in any store. I always seem to be able to find someone at this store that is able to assist me and be friendly doing so.

I told the associate, Selena, that I wanted 3 gallons of "middle of the road" satin finish Behr paint and I asked her to show me the prices. She showed me three options and pointed to the ultra version that was priced at $29.98. I said great, I'll take that. Selena fulfilled my order and when I scanned the first gallon at the self checkout it rang up at $35.98. I told Mary the cashier about this and she said to go take a picture of the price and she would fix it. So I went back to the paint department and I said to Selena that the paint is ringing up at $35.98 and she asked what finish I ordered and I said satin. She said oh that's why, the satin finish is $6 more per gallon. I said well why then when I said I wanted middle of the road Behr paint with satin finish did you just point at the $29.98 price without telling me that it will cost more with Satin finish? She said well this is the price for flat paint. I said I never asked for the price for flat paint, but that I specifically asked for the price of the satin finish. She said well it says it right here, again pointing to the sticker that said $29.98. I said surely you can see where it might be helpful to let customers know the price of the paint they request and not the price of paint that they didn't request. I suggested to her that in the future she might want to let customers know this and I also said that I don't know anything about paint and that you are the expert. Her response was "I am actually not the expert, I just work here". to which I responded with "clearly". I then took a picture of the price she quoted and said let's see what the manager thinks. She told me to have a nice day with a hint of sarcasm and then proceeded to laugh as the next customers approached as if I was the idiot. I showed Mary at checkout the picture of the price i was quoted and she spoke with a manager and promptly adjusted the price to the amount I was told. Mary was very helpful and saved the day. If I would have been told the correct price up front I would have gladly paid that price. I might have even paid that price if Selena would have acknowledged her mistake and apologized but instead she chose to be argumentative and took zero responsibility for quoting an incorrect price. If you are someone that doesn't know anything about paint, be sure to ask what the price will be at checkout for the type of paint you are ordering.

Whether a $5000+ purchase is made or a $5 purchase (of which I have done both), the same poor level of customer service is provided - typically not the sales associates but the management. The check out area with the little lay down area and bagging area make things difficult. The hand held scanners are the worst in this COVID-19 situation because who knows who used it before you. Good luck in trying to find same make/model of item you bought 6 months previously because they change brands to keep their cost down but not the customers. I have tried to speak to management but they only are doing what Regional Area managers and Corporate is mandating - they have very little input and thus very little concern.

I attempted to purchase mulch in store 3828 on 04/20/2020. Due to Covid-19 the entrance and exits are strictly supervised, which I understand. I asked at the service counter how to buy 30 bags of mulch to finish a gas line replacement. I was told, due to Covid-19, bulk mulch loading was suspended and to walk to the garden center to get the mulch and take it to the self check. I had to leave the store to get a dolly, that was outside the lumber loading area, and go back garden center. I was not allowed to re-enter the store in the lumber area and had to walk, the length of the store, back to the main entrance and wait in line again. Since I could not fit 30 bags on the dolly, I went through this process multiple times. Each time the store employees watched and did not help except at self checkout. All three times the self check out clerks assisted is ringing out bags. This took approximately 90 minutes and I was stupid for not leaving at the beginning of the process. If Covid-19 was a concern, then the employees should have been wearing masks, gloves and not be standing next to each other/sharing mobile devices.

This store has all the customers go through 1 cashier and 1 exit from the store. All the customers are together. Spread them out. If a cashier has covid19 everyone going through that line will get the virus. If for example if there were 4 cashiers only 25% of the customer would get the virus. I did not like bringing 20 bags of soil through all the way through the store. I would of preferred to just go through the garden cashier/exit.

I didn't argue with him or get upset with him. I say that because there was no excuse for his unprofessional behavior. He didn't apologize or thank me for shopping.
