Product Overview

Introducing the only permanent filler for concrete joints and cracks: 125 ft. Medium Gray Permanent Concrete Joint and Crack Filler. This product originated from federally specified highway jobs but the only difference is you do not need a 200 Gal. melter to apply it. Crack-Stix is permanent because it is applied with heat (a simple hand held torch) and it bonds to the sidewalls of the crack. Cracks open up because they expand and contract with freeze or thaw cycles - but Crack-Stix will expand and contract right along with mother nature. Medium Crack-Stix is designed for joints and cracks 1/2 in. to 1 in. in Dia.

California residents: see   Proposition 65 information

  • For concrete joints and cracks 1/2 in. - 1 in. (12.7 mm - 25.4 mm) in Dia

When installing Crack-Stix in spaces which previously had 1x4 wood spacers, does the space below the Crack-Stix need to be filled with something to prevent it from "running" down into the space when heated? Wouldn't backer rod melt when heat is applied to the Crack-Stix? Any usage suggestions would be appreciated.

Answer:
You can find flame retardant backer rod out there, or simply break and stack pieces to fill the area within reason of course.

Answer:
Yes, we do recommend using a heat resistant backer rod or dry sand to act as support for the crack stix product until it is able to set up.

Answer:
I am not sure. The product did not specifically prevent vertical surface application. But common sense says since it requires melt down to install, vertical surface is not a good idea.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 38 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works as advertised Easy to use, easy to put down and it looks great. I used this on my driveway where weeds had started to come through the expansion joint. Make sure you clean the surface well, remove all weeds/dirt, etc. I used a 20lb propane tank from my grill, and a torch with a wand handle. I'm not sure how a small plumber's torch would work, but the big one did the job fast. It made the appearance of my driveway look so much better. August 23, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bubbled and yellowed Wanted to use this instead of messy caulking style. It bubbled and yellowed (not from over heating) just as another review stated. I tried their recommendation and removed the plastic wrapper and it worked much, much better. Probably a four star quality job that way. But it is time consuming and challenging to get the plastic off...not worth the effort. I returned unused product and will use the caulking style. August 17, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Crack Filler Good product, a bit time consuming but the end result is worth the time. On large cracks you have to double up on the Crack Stix to fill it correctly. Be sure to use Backer Rod to fill the crack first then place the Crack Stix on top of that ...The item does self level... August 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Spendy but works good This works great but you can't fill in large cracks very easily. You have to do multiple applications. Works best on shallow cracks a little less than a half inch and then you can fill about a quarter of an inch per length. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The best product for the job. THIS STUFF IS GREAT! I will use it for future projects. July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by crack filler Product is very easy to use and durable. I have had this in my driveway for two years, and is still holding up. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ideal solution for replacing wood expansion joints in concrete I had several areas in our driveway and walk way up to our front door where the wood expansion joints were either rotted or missing. I was looking for a product like this and it was ideal for my application. It was easy to install using a MAPP torch. The key is to make sure the depth of the crack is not more than the manufacturer specs...if it is, you can use stone dust or similar fill material to bring up to an appropriate level. June 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Product Great - Home Depot Service Poor The product is great. Took 10 hours to do about 75' of 3/4 cement expansion seems in my garage. But well worth the effort once done. I recommend Mapp gas, as it got hotter and worked better. Home Depot sent the wrong size, even though my online order was correct. This required me to do all seems twice. I ordered grey medium and received black small. Tired of Home Depot mistakes. August 4, 2015
