Thank you for your inquiry regarding the EMCO Forever Store-in-Door Crossbuck Storm Door. This type of storm door is made of molded polypropylene (vinyl) material. We do not suggest installing a mail slot in on the door. In addition, modifications made on the door will void the Limited Lifetime Warranty. -Ben

The polypropylene used to manufacture the storm door does not lend itself to repainting. Most likely, the paint and/ or primer will not successfully adhere to the storm door over a period of time. Only the Forever Store-in-Door storm doors which were manufactured between 1977 to September of 2002 can be repainted. – Noel Read Less

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Forget the 45 minute install Install more than one and you might achieve the 45 minute install time. Not entirely happy with the screen. It just fits the opening. When pins holding the screen engage the slots available for them, the screen is too high and there is a gap at the bottom. I drilled holes in the door to accept the pins at the proper position. Instructions about attaching the hinge are not clear. I did what I thought was right and then had to remove it and reinstall it. But armed with this information, you'll achieve a faster installation and have a very nice door. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great product easy to install Easy project easy installation. We had this door for many years .Time for a replacement June 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Storm Door Replaced older metal door. This was an easy swap out. Sturdy door love the hidden window/ screen feature Easy installation. May 10, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Save Yourself the Trouble The interior handle of the door fell apart after about 2 years of use, when the metal housing surrounding the pin on the handle pretty much disintegrated. To make matters worse, it is only covered under warranty for 1 year. The real problem is that finding a replacement under $50 dollars is practically impossible due to the depth of the door. I would strongly recommend you think twice before buying this product. And if you don't believe me, do a quick search online to verify that this problem is universal. Good luck! March 16, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good storm door at the coast Installed easily. I had one other same model that lasted 15 years in the salt air. I love the self storing of screen and window. September 1, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by crossbuch storm door Everything went together well and I love the piano hinge I do believe it will be more durable than the 3 hinges and the hide away window to is great! August 18, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by My door lasted 21 years. I do not know if our carpenter got the door at this store or not, but my door lasted 21 years. I started to have trouble with the knob just two years ago. It was 19 years old then. Today, my knob fell off in my hand. That told me I was due for another storm door and you guessed it, I will buy another Forever Storm door. Anything that lasts that long, deserves to be replaced with another just like it. I have another Forever for my back door. They are just great doors. We paid $150 at the time - that comes out to 7 cents a year. I feel bad for the people who have not had great luck with their doors, but we have had great luck with ours. November 4, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Forever repair This is one of the worst storm doors. I bought it because it seemed solid, had the high view with screen option. The door does not form a good seal and the cold air comes through. I have since replaced the door once and replaced the inside handle twice. Right now the handle is broken again, but, I refuse to pay anymore money to buy another one! Currently looking for a better quality storm door that looks like this one. Save your money, buy something else! December 7, 2014
