Answer:
maybe out of date, some manufacturers have a specified time that these detectors are good for, so they may beep even if you change the battery

Full alarm sound after AC connection

This question is from Hardwired 120-Volt Inter-Connectable Smoke Alarm with Battery Backup

Followed the installation instructions and installed two of these alarms in the basement. They tested ok with only battery power. I then turned on the AC power and the alarms sounded their full blast alarms continuously and refused to stop. I found some reset procedures on the FIREX site, followed those instructions but did not make a difference. The full alarm just came on as soon as I turned on the power at the circuit breaker panel. Any suggestion/help would be greatly appreciated as to how to silence this unnecessary alarm. We have one more of these smoke alarms, plus 3 combo ones to install upstairs. If this alarm doesn't go away, all 6 will have to go back to Home Depot. Thanks.

Answer:
This happened to me, I had a wire nut that was loose on the neutral wire and all the alarms sounded on AC power, I reconnected the wire after I found it and the problem stopped immediately. I have lost power in the house sense then and no alarm. I am sure that was the problem in my case.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Had Issues Make sure you check that the battery is inserted correctly from the factory prior to pulling the activation strip. Believe the reversed 9V shorted out the detector. No fixing it, had to exchange. New one is working fine. October 11, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product in bulk packl for the money! October 25, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product, poor display in store It was just the smoke alarm I needed to replace an old one. But the display in the store was so confusing it took me 20 minutes to figure out which one to buy. Seemed to be pushing alarms in hard bubble packs for different places in house, but there was no way to figure out the connector to see if it would match my existing connector. This one did and was cheaper as it was on a lower shelf and was labeled for contractors. Shame on Home Depot for not being the warehouse store they were when they started. September 20, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by If you like ear-splitting, panic-inducing false alarms in the wee hours, get these! Bought 12 of these, the photoelectric type, because they allegedly had fewer false alarms than the ionization type (same brand). Two days after installation (interconnected), ear-splitting false alarms due to one defective unit. Returned. Exchanged. Disgusted with this company. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by $ for $ a good buy This was a replacement to a 20 year old alarm, mounted up on old plate and same pig tail. Easy for me August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Easy Installation Easy to install smoke detectors--puts our minds at ease. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kidde Smoke Detectors My home is 7 years old and it was time to replace the current Kidde smoke detectors. YES IT IS NECESSARY TO REPLACE THEM WHEN THEY START TO BEEP PERIODICALLY. What I like about the Kidde product is that they continue to use the same electrical connectors and mounting plates which makes the replacemtn quick and easy. June 28, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good product easy install Easy to install. Works like a charm. Was replacing another smoke alarm which didn't sound loud enough, and this replacement even fit into the existing mount. June 28, 2016
