What if I have a sliding screen door? Do I have to take the door off the track? Or can I install it while the door is on the track?

For best results, we recommend removing the screen door and installing the pet door while on a clean, flat surface.

There are not many pet doors that can be installed in a screen instead of a door. This purchase was actually a replacement for the previous door. With all the use it gets (including the occasional raccoon) I was impressed that the first one lasted 4 years.

I have 3 cats, ranging from the smallest 7 pounds to the biggest almost 20 pounds...all have no trouble using the pet door. this was a new concept for them, so the first few times i had to encourage them to go through the door, but now they come & go freely. no more having to open the door to let them in or out! and it was easy to install...mine is on pet-friendly screen, so it was a but tougher to cut through the screen, but i feel it adds stability to the pet door. it's been in for about a month now, and so far so good!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great door! I used to keep my slider & screen open about 8 inches so my cats could come & go as desired but, unfortunately so then could all the insects. This screen flap was the perfect solution. At 1st, before my dim cat learned how it worked she'd paw at the screen around the door which caused it to sag but that was easy to fix without removing the door. I just separated the plastic frames on that side with a butter knife, pulled the screen taut & snapped them back together. For $21 this has turned out to be a terrific buy for me & has held up really well.

No problems with placing, snapping in place, and cutting the screen. I will probably choose to reinforce the locking pins just to ensure that the animals don't bust the thin plastic pins.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Make sure you have a hot glue gun to install. We installed two of these doors for the dog in our screened in pool area so she can go outside. The doors over time seperate from the screen and the door stops working for the dog. We have an active dog that doesn't slow down when she uses these doors. They need reinforced snaps around the edges to hold it together something manufactoring should look into. Use a hot glue gun when you install to make sure it does not come apart over time. Item would look better if it was white. The dog loves the doors and there is a magnet at the bottom that holds the door closed to keep wind from moving the door. Great solution and gives the dog her freedom.

The enclosed instructions say that it is only for hinged screen doors. I had planned to install on a sliding door, but there was not enough clearance. Returned.
