Bought this for a tiny cabin we are remodeling. We took out a broken turbine fan that had a wonky light in it, and added this. It's all sealed up now and SO BRIGHT (yae for no spiders and natural light!). The tube could be cut down to size easily and since we didn't have attic space it needed to travel through, it made installation a breeze. The outside looks great too. We've made lots of changes to the cabin, and this is so far our favorite!

We had to get a new roof, so we installed a sun tube while the roofers were laying new shingle. The roofers did roof hole and install the flashing and top portion. I did the hole cutting through ceiling, and interior install. It was pretty easy, even with notching out the 2"X4"s in ceiling to make room for light fixture. Flexitube is like a giant dryer tube, but more reflective. It was easy to stretch and manuever down into place. Hardest part was trying to get the plastic light diffusers back in place after pulling the reflective tube down through the "light fixture." The fixture and light diffusers are plastic, and I thought it might be higher quality for the price. It works though.
Installed in bathroom 10' long by 6' wide, and it provides plenty of light. Light does look a little blue in the evenings and mornings, but most of the day its just bright sunlight. This 14" gives PLENTY of light in that bathroom now.
I'd install again if I had to do it all over again, and recommend to anyone who has a room with no windows that wants some light in it.
I live in TX, and we get plenty of sun.

I had a contractor install this, so I can't speak to ease of installation. It seemed pretty straightforward.
My problems are:
1. The light that the sun tunnel emits is blue.
2. It doesn't emit as much light as I had hoped.
I wish I read all the reviews before I bought this product. Another customer talks about the light color, but the sales rep says they've never had this problem before, and there is no mention of it on the website. I also found out after I had it installed that flexible tubing reflects only about half the light of rigid tubing. So be aware. Once you have this installed, it s a major job to undo it.

We were getting a new roof done anyway so we thought the Sun Tunnel would be a nice addition to our main (windowless) bathroom. The light has a distinctly bluish quality, like a full moon. We like the additional light and the flexible tube made it easy for the contractor to install. The product would be better if the metallic ceiling ring/collar was made of steel, so you could use a magnetic cover for when you don't want light. Time was tight and the flexible Sun Tunnel was in stock at Home Depot so that's what we ultimately chose, but next time I might go with a rigid tube and perhaps a Solatube.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by shibafu Disappointed, low light, cheap cover
Our contractor installed it on our hallway, but I hated it so much that I had him remove it and patch the sealing up. Here are parts I did not like.
1) It hardly provided much additional light.
2) The tone of the color that came from the dome was much cooler than regular light, so while the rest of the house looked warmer, the area under the dome emitted much colder light and it looked very depressing.
3) The cover is a very cheap plastic cover. There is no glass cover with this product line.
I should have used SolaTube brand, which has glass cover and light color correction.

The skylight was not hard to install. Taking off the shingles was a bit challenging, but overall it's not difficult to install. Flexible tunnel made it easier to go between kitchen ceiling and rooftop. We were very disappointed in the amount of light reflected. Probably has to do with the flexible tunnel. We would not go to the expense or time to install again if we knew the small amount of light it produced.

I had a roof contractor put in my Sun Tunnels. Love them. Let's in a lot of light into room. I have tried other ideas to get light into this darker room. Great solution!
