Product Overview

The P414 Aluminum 14 ft. Platform Ladder has a duty rating of 300 lbs. and features a safety guard rail to encourage proper use. The large platform provides a secure and comfortable work area, and the slip-resistant TRACTION-TRED steps are double riveted and knee braced. A full set of rear horizontals are spaced one foot apart. The 4 ft., 6 ft. and 8 ft. models have a duty rating of 375 lbs. These ladders are lightweight and easy to transport.

I would like to paint may garage. How close can the platform ladder get to the garage if it is angled away from the garage?

Answer: 
You would want to align to step ladder next to the garage so that the ladder is horizontal with the garage. By having the ladder positioned this way, you would avoid over extending. The spread of the ladder is 103 31/32"

Answer: 
According to the product description this ladder has a base (leg) spread of 108", or 9 feet. Just about half of that would be as close as possible to getting to a wall if I understand what you meant by angled away. If you set the ladder with a side next to the garage wall you'd be much closer but take into account that the legs flare out at the base.
