Customer Questions & Answers

I am 5 feet tall, How high can I safely reach?

I need to paint the inside of my house, most rooms have 12 foot rise, do I need to get a taller ladder?
Asked by: Anonymous
The best formula that I use for choosing a step ladder for a project is: The ladder height plus 4 feet, this would give you your safe reaching height. So and 8 foot step ladder plus 4 feet would equal 12 foot safe reach. Or a 6 foot step ladder plus 4 feet would give you a safe reaching height of 10 feet. Simple formula to remember.....

I want to climb into my attic which has a trap door 9 ft from the floor. What size and type ladder do I need?

None needed.

How well can you climb? If you climb well you can get by with 4' step ladder or sturdy stool. I am about 50# over weight and i would use an 8' or 10' ladder. The 8' will open easier in a 9' high room but you may need to use the top step or top of the ladder which is not recommended buy the MFG. A10' will protrude about 8-10" into the opening ensuring you have a safe footing.

Step ladders: What is the difference between Type I Duty Rating and Type 1A Duty Rating?

Asked by: Anonymous
The difference is the recommended weight limit. 1A is 300lbs and I believe 1 is 225lbs.

I'm a woman in my 50's and I do pretty much all of my own repairs, inside and out. I have a huge HEAVY extension ladder (loathe using it) and a 6 foot old school - I call aluminum foil - ladder. I've needed one of these for years and finally pulled the trigger! So happy I did. I actually said "I love my ladder!!" the first time I used it putting up xmas lights. Easy to carry, maneuver, stabilize on rock - I feel 1000x's safer using this - should have bought one years ago!!

I wanted one that I would not have to worry about the weight of people on it and I wanted it sturdy and strong. This ladder is so stable and feels safe. My 10 year old grandson is scared of ladders ( we used to have an aluminum one) and he LIKES this one. He feels secure on it. I also like the magnetic screw holder on the top. Just the size we need for all the fix it items around the house & now everyone can take part in fixing the items with no fear. Bought an 8 ft. one for when I need to get on the roof or have items to fix in the cathedral ceilings. I am sold on these ladders

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replacement Ladder This was a replacement for a 34 year old wooden ladder 8 foot that I suddenly realized was WAY past it's prime. I checked with a few professionals, who all told me to go with the Werner brand. Home Depot's price was better than their competitor and they had the ladder in stock. The only issue was getting it home, and a contractor friend w/a truck came to my rescue. The first time I used this ladder, I realized how much more stable it was than my old ladder and I should have bought this ages ago. It fits on the same "hanger" hooks that my older ladder fit on in the garage.

I feel safe working on a ladder that is solid under me. I have 4, 6, and 8 foot ladders of this model. I have worked on ladders my whole life and these are the best by far. They do not wiggle and wobble while you are working on them. I have 2 of the utility buckets that slide into the holes on top of the ladder as I often use more than one of the ladders at a time. I think they were about $10 or so and they are in the store. I wish they would carry the 4 foot ladder in the store. It is online only and I had to wait about 3 weeks to get it.

The ladder is well built, well designed, not too heavy and very sturdy. I recently moved into a new house with higher ceilings and also had to prepare for a hurricane putting shutters up. It has been well used in a short period of time and is everything I had wanted it to be. The cups and openings for tools in the top also came in very handy. I am also a larger individual and the 300 lb. weight limit makes it much more secure than the 6 ft. aluminum I had been using previously. I highly recommend this p;product.

I bought a Werner 12 foot ladder twelve years ago when we moved into a house that had 18 foot ceilings and I realized that I didn't have a ladder that was tall enough to reach the top of the twelve foot Christmas tree I had just bought. It has held up perfectly over the years with no issue. This year I realized that I needed to replace my old no name/cheap 6 foot aluminum ladder that had bent and twisted over the years (and that I fell off of last year, luckily not getting hurt). I decided to stick with Werner since they have done me so well and got this 6 foot. Worked perfectly for me, and is much more sturdy and safe than an aluminum ladder. My wife even trusts my 14 and 16 year old boys with this ladder, so you know that it is sturdy.

I purchased this step ladder to hang the Christmas lights on our gutter .I didn't a really big ladder and this was the right size but when the clerk got it off the shelve for me at our local store in Kennewick Wa I didn't look it over untill I got to the check stand then I noticed the 2 bottom steps were bent there was a clerk walking by he took it back and got me another one that wasn't bent. So far the ladder has work great for me its still a little hard to close but as it gets broken in the hinges will close easier.
